Would you leave your baby in a cot all by itself?

Even worse, in a room all by itself! Because of some of the threads on Mumsnet I'm wondering if I'm being a really bad mother letting ds sleep all by himself in a cot in another room - I mean, what if the room spontaneously exploded???? Perhaps I should gaffa tape him to me all the time, just to be on the safe side?

Interested in this thread?

Then you might like threads about these subjects:

how exactly did I miss this thread?

I am also now left with the enduring image of Spidermama and all her little spiders in identical tracksuits a la "Tenenbaum" for identifiation purposes.

And on that note, I need a Tenenbaum Lady now after reading this lot.

at the lot of you

In any case, Spidermama, the so-called medics at the hospital shouldn't be trusted. You know your baby better than anyone else, so you just trust your insincts and don't listen to anyone who claims that 20 years of working in a hospital gives them any basis to judge.

OMG I gave DS a bath this evening ! Will never do this again what with the risk splashing water on his face or even worse - drowning in the inch of water in the botom of the bath. Think I will clean him using my own spit in future

Bugsy2 · 14/10/2005 21:27

with your own breastmilk surely cheekymonkey!!!

Damn, damn didn't think of that one!
Decided that the risk of DS choking on my nipple was too much to bear so I have fed by dripping milk directly from my mouth to DS's mouth, just like the birds do - how sweet

QueenVictoria · 14/10/2005 21:41

OMG! Ive done something terrible. I put DS in his cot tonight and left the room . I just didnt know what i was doing, he's only my 2nd. Someone told me today that you have to have at least 16 children to be an expert. His name doesnt even start with a J.

Not only that but he didnt cry? What am i doing wrong? Have i scarred him for life? Im sobbing into my lap because i just dont know how to train him to have separation anxiety? Any advice?

FrenchSorciere · 14/10/2005 21:51

oh now you all got me so worried....
do you think it's OK for my dd to speak? I mean she could get into contact with other people and you never know where that might lead! And she can speak two languages, what was I thinking?
Is it too late????

Rhubarb · 14/10/2005 22:06

SPEAK!!!!!! What are you thinking of woman! How dare you even remove the nipple from their mouths! Mine have no need for words, they have all the fulfilment they need with my organic breast milk!

MrsSpoon · 14/10/2005 23:28

Pelvic floors LilMissy, squeeze and release, squeeze and release ...

LilMissy · 14/10/2005 23:38

hehe

fisil · 15/10/2005 08:53

I think you're all being a bit selfish, though, and should think about the rights of your child. For example, today I through away some of ds1's own property, surely I should wait until he is old enough to make a decision about what he wants to keep and what he wants to throw out. I feel so guilty, and I was just being selfish - I suppose I did it because it was getting a bit stinky just sitting there in the potty.

tigermoth · 15/10/2005 09:12

lol long and loud :

I just cannot believe this thread. You all have the nerve to actually bring a baby into this world - there's a name for people like you!

ThePrisoner · 15/10/2005 10:22

So what Tigermoth - I managed to have two in one go!! And, horror of horrors, not only did they get put in a different room to mine at night ... they were in separate cots too! Oooooh!

tigermoth · 15/10/2005 10:49

You m*er!

sorry, I know that's a bad word to say, but I just couldn't help myself.

SerahScarer · 15/10/2005 11:25

fisil

donnie · 15/10/2005 14:23

well actually fisil I think that is very selfish of you.I personally save all my dds wee and poo so that when old enough she can decide exactly what she wants to do with it - something at Tate Modern, for example? I hope you decide to empower your ds in a similar way....!

MrsSpoon · 15/10/2005 20:39

fisil, could you not turn it into manure for your organic veg plot (which I'm sure you must have, don't we all???), so you will be all ready with your purees for weaning at 16 years? Or is that too early these days?

mumfor1sttime · 15/10/2005 20:58

pmsl at this thread!

Chandra · 16/10/2005 01:11

Great idea MrsSpoon! the ultimate act of recycling, and if you take the kids to do the business straight into the garden soil you don't even need to use nappies!

fisil · 16/10/2005 08:59

What! You would take your children out into the germ ridden, risk infected garden before their 18th birthday? Shocking. Mine are staying in the safety of their own home until then, having skin to skin contact and suckling at my breast.
