Would you leave your baby in a cot all by itself?

Even worse, in a room all by itself! Because of some of the threads on Mumsnet I'm wondering if I'm being a really bad mother letting ds sleep all by himself in a cot in another room - I mean, what if the room spontaneously exploded???? Perhaps I should gaffa tape him to me all the time, just to be on the safe side?

moondog · 12/10/2005 21:04

Gaffa tape? You dreadful woman. I carry mine around in my arms all the time - I'd never forgive myself if I taped them to me and the tape accidentally broke.

ScreamEagle · 12/10/2005 21:06

Yes very silly and making me pmsl into the computer screen!

CountessDracula · 12/10/2005 21:06

I am considering having mine surgically implanted back into my womb for safekeeping

You're just being silly now, gaffer tape will give him a rash. Teach him to grip your clothes with his hands when sleeping and carry him on your back at all times.

CountessDracula · 12/10/2005 21:07

oh fuckit that keeps happening

saying that, they are not even safe in wombs these days with those baby-womb-nicking types around. Maybe I should purchase a tank and lock her in

CD!

LOVE this thread.

gingerbear · 12/10/2005 21:07

of course not, velcro is whats needed.

gingerbear · 12/10/2005 21:08

That is why we never had the umbilical cord cut.

Rhubarb · 12/10/2005 21:09

Superglue? Or as Countess Drac said, I might have him reinserted into my womb, just to be on the safe side!

OP posts:
gingerbear · 12/10/2005 21:12

Thats what superglue was invented for!

spidermama · 12/10/2005 21:13

No. I like my freedom.
I have a ten feet long tube sewn from my nipple to his mouth so I can cook for the others whilst he lies in his cot in the kitchen feeding.
That way we're both having our needs met.

Rhubarb · 12/10/2005 21:20

Spidermama, that is so outrageous! How could you even part from skin contact with your child? You should be reported!

Currently sleep all of mine (4.5 and two at 1.2) back in the womb every night. They are reminded of the heart beat rythmn and fall into deep sleeps instantly feeling both secure and loved in a deeply spiritual place). I then do 5hours of yoga, outside, eating figs and drinking water by the marie-rose load. Followed by enough crisps to harden Selena Scott's arteries and enough gin to put the "girls on tour" to shame.

Works for me .

expatinscotland · 12/10/2005 21:26

You can tell MI is no Earth Mother. Gaffa tape! Puh-leeze! Who needs that when you can get one of those slings and keep them not only next to you (skin to skin is best!) but also at the breast 24/7.

hunkerpumpkin · 12/10/2005 21:28

I keep DS under my mattress for safekeeping, along with my life savings, some hairy toffees and all my precious jewels.

He looks a bit squashed in the morning, but what the heck, I know I'm not a bad mother.

HRHWickedwaterwitch · 12/10/2005 21:28

Ha ha at this thread!

FrumpyGrumpy · 12/10/2005 21:33

OK, TIME to be really truthful. I've left mine, in a car by themselves, in the bath by themselves, upstairs by themselves, with the kitchen cupboard to play with WITH MY BLESSING by themselves. All while I left the particular area to scream internally and find much needed strength to carry on life as they know it. And pour a gin. I'm a yummy mummy by the way.

Blu · 12/10/2005 21:33

I'm having mine surgically re-implanted into womb, re-attaching him by a reconstructed umbilical cord re-infocred with steel cable, gaffa taping my f*y shut and then triple locking myself into a steel cage surrounded by a moat full of pirhanas.

Do you thnk this is responsible? Could a pirhana eat him? Would you do this?

hunkerpumpkin · 12/10/2005 21:35

You'll never have sex again, Blu, but yes, sounds reasonable

FrumpyGrumpy · 12/10/2005 21:36

Mt DTs have currently awakened each other and I've still laundry and the packed lunch to pack for dd1 whilst not actually fed myself yet due to interesting chat on MN. Should I move out or chuck another stick of insence (sp?) on the burner?

Blu · 12/10/2005 21:37

Well, sex, now you mention it - isn't it a bit uncomfortable on a mattress all lumpy with jewels, hairy toffee and child underneath?
