Would you leave your baby in a cot all by itself?

Even worse, in a room all by itself! Because of some of the threads on Mumsnet I'm wondering if I'm being a really bad mother letting ds sleep all by himself in a cot in another room - I mean, what if the room spontaneously exploded???? Perhaps I should gaffa tape him to me all the time, just to be on the safe side?

Leaving a baby on a monitor, no matter how apparently securely strapped on, is incredibly dangerous! I'm really shocked. She could fall off and DIE! I really can't believe some people. They shouldn't be allowed to have children.
My own children are under my jumper atm. Skin to skin, you see. Can't get enough of it. People think I'm quite fat, but no, it's just bonding.

JoolsToo · 12/10/2005 23:10

LOL rhubarb!

motherinferior · 12/10/2005 23:19

I don't understand why people have children if they just want to leave them for minutes on end.

And it's only for a few decades, for heaven's sake. Where are your priorities?

aloha · 12/10/2005 23:22

They are only little for about 16 years.

Didn't quite make it to the shower as I decided to wake my beloveds (4.5 and two at 1.2) to have some quality painting time. Figured we might as well do it when I was good and ready so as to give them the very best of what I had to offer. We are currently painting sandscapes and will sleep by the rythmn method when the third moon eclispes pluto.

Anyone have patterns for knit-your-own swimming cozzies..... its the school holidays next week......

Chandra · 12/10/2005 23:26

Kids all tucked back in and are sl like kids do. Would it be appropriate to bake fresh bread for breakfast or will toaster-singed bleached white be ok? Oh shit, my halo seems to have blackened one eye.

Top thread

The only reason I am on here so late is so I can watch my children sleep I find it helps me to be at one with their cycles. I can't sleep anyway as I have to knit another pair of trousers from the peelings from my organic veg.

unicorn · 13/10/2005 08:12

You mean to say some of you actually sleep?

How selfish and irresponsible - you should be watching them 24/7.

Rhubarb · 13/10/2005 13:24

My friend has hers stitched to her skin nicely positioned just under the boob so they can feed whenever they like, she has bodyguards wherever she goes in case someone does try to snatch them, she never uses anything with an engine in case it spontaneously combusts, and baby alarms are a big no-no - the electrics might fail and set the whole room on fire!

Her kids are just 16 and 14 - bless!

Bad Mother alert

I'm feeling really low and bad. I lost skin to skin contact with my eight month old this morning after he squeezed his way out of my arms and began sprint-crawling for the door.
It was at least 90 seconds before I noticed what had happened.
I flew after him, scooped him up and am still holding him tighter than ever.

I'm just wondering does anybody know what the long term psychological implications might be?

mandrake · 13/10/2005 13:36

lol

actually I got into BIG trouble for leaving 1 year old neice sleeping in room by herself. the little horror vomited. silently so baby monitor didn't register it. sister came home to find baby covered in vomit. we were not permitted to babysit for ages after this.

which just proves you should never let them out of sight ever.

Kidstrack2 · 13/10/2005 13:54

B**y Fantastic Thread or should I say Pure Dead Brilliant!

bran · 13/10/2005 13:58

Only this morning at the supermarket, I put my ds in his seat, then closed the door and walked around the outside of the car to get into the driver's seat. Thank goodness for this thread, I now realise that I have to get in his door and climb between the front seats so that he is never left on his own in the car again.

sandyballs · 13/10/2005 14:07

I love it!

Caligula · 13/10/2005 14:23

I don't know why people have children if they're just going to sleep after they're born.

Trollsbane · 13/10/2005 14:28

i let ds watch television this morning
i'll now have to whip myself in punishment for turning his likkle brown eyes square

DissLocated · 13/10/2005 14:31

I have purchased cycle helmets for myself and dd to wear when walking down the street to protect our heads incase the sky falls down.

Caligula · 13/10/2005 14:35

LoL at chicken licken there!

donnie · 13/10/2005 14:40

great thread!!! but I have a major problem. What should I do with dd2 ( 5 months) when I need to go to the toilet?
As for sleep.....what's that?????

highlander · 13/10/2005 15:30

stand aside ladies

DS is currently asleep in his stroller - without the brake on!!!!!!!!!!

spidermama · 13/10/2005 15:53

highlander!
The little mite.
Just think. A kidnapper could get him so easily with that brake off.
