Would you leave your baby in a cot all by itself?

Even worse, in a room all by itself! Because of some of the threads on Mumsnet I'm wondering if I'm being a really bad mother letting ds sleep all by himself in a cot in another room - I mean, what if the room spontaneously exploded???? Perhaps I should gaffa tape him to me all the time, just to be on the safe side?

Sex? How selfish! Motherhood isn't all about pleasing yourself, you know. Studies have in fact shown that children whose mothers had more than one sexual encounter in the first five years of their lives were noticeably less able to play with yellow sticklebrix.

lucykate · 12/10/2005 21:40

if you put them in a wilkinet, they'll be strapped to you for life. they are impossible to remove!

madmarchscare · 12/10/2005 21:42

FGS, dont put them under the matress, they might choke on your jewels.

Medised to the rescue. Have put DT2 back down to sleep ALONE in his cot. Will I report myself or is anyone on here woman enough to dial the number with their stick of celery?

unicorn · 12/10/2005 21:49

mi.. stickle brick.. lol

don't ever ever ever go to the toilet without your child... that is an arrestable offence.

And you wll surely go down for that one (and be stoned by mumsnetters worldwide)

FGS... how dare you relieve your bowels without your child attached?

MrsVonTripTrap · 12/10/2005 21:49

You lot are all so norty. I am going to report you all to social services for failing to neglect your children in a suitable manner.

There is absolutely no excuse for not leaving your child unattended for more than 30 seconds each day.

Utterly disgraceful. I am appalled at the lot of y ou.

geraldgiraffe · 12/10/2005 21:51

Sometimes I leave my ds at nursery. Would anyone else do this?

geraldgiraffe · 12/10/2005 22:50

Does anybody have Aloha's home contact details so that i can report her, please?

weesaidie · 12/10/2005 22:54

You know, sometimes I even hear my dd whimpering slightly in the cot (in another room !) and I ignore her...

Chandra · 12/10/2005 22:55

AT A NURSERY!!!! why are you still working???? you are a mother now!!!

Angeliz · 12/10/2005 22:55

pmsl at the sticklebrix!

I have my two girls holding hands with me and each other to not break that circle of family love and unity, (am typing with toes) and am not infact sitting with a glass of wine while my 4 year old is STILL up at nanas eating quavers apparently. She hardly sees nana and i think she might be taking the Mick!!

weesaidie · 12/10/2005 22:56

Exactly chandra... I mean what is the point of having children if you are not going to spend 24 hours a day attached to them?!

aloha · 12/10/2005 22:57

I do hear that some women abandon their children with strangers at a place called 'school'.

codface · 12/10/2005 22:57

fer eaks

weesaidie · 12/10/2005 22:59

Absolutely disgusting... I mean reaaaaally!

Trickorflum · 12/10/2005 22:59

My dd is asleep on the sofa next to me. Couldn't bear her to be upstairs alone and wake up scared. I strap her to my back when I go to work. She is 2 and getting quite heavy now, but you never know. Dunno what I'm gonna do when the quads arrive.

trinityrocks · 12/10/2005 23:07

at this moment baby is smoring softly whilst velcroed to the top of the monitor, she's getting quite long now and sometimes I have to whip a leg out of the way to see mumsnet ...................................but at least she is never more than a foot away from me.

oh no is a foot too far, oh god I must now strap her to my head.

Have not laughed so hard in a long time, you lot are hilarious, really must do my pelvic floor exercises!!!

Chandra · 12/10/2005 23:08

Actually, I once met a highly responsible woman who was horrified at the idea of getting a pushchair as it was an un natatural thing to do because no other being in the animal kingdom carried its offspring in an artifact (I'm not joking about this)

Chandra · 12/10/2005 23:09

not joking about the woman saying this not about being a highly responsible.
