how often do you bath your dc?

i have 2, 4.5yo and 2yo, when 4.5yo was an only child we used to bath everynight, with arrival of dc2 its now every 2nd night. bath them both together.

i remember when i was young, it was one bath a week with my siblings!

i am shattered. i can usually muster up the energy to be cheery, happy go lucky mummy, but today i feel blah, no energy, feeling down... relentlessness of it all getting to me and it's bath night and i'm thinking of pushing it out another day although i probably won't as i'll just feel guilty... sigh!

just throwing this out there while the dc are eating!

DS1 had mild eczema whe he was little so I never gave him a bath every day as it seemed to make it worse. Now its a couple of times a week or more often if necessary

DS1(8) every other day
DS2(7 weeks) every day

I used to bath ds1 everyday but i got sick of having to mop a ocean off my floor ever bloody eveningXmas Wink

Every other night. I have excema and believe bathing every day isn't good for the skin.

I have 4wk and a 3yo and they bath together

SilveryMoon · 07/12/2010 18:54

i used to do it every night but now can't be bothered Blush so it's every other night.
as babies, they were bathed vevery 3rd night and cotton wool washed the other days

lal123 · 07/12/2010 18:56

DD2 every night - its part of her routine (she's 14 months). DD1 - probably has 1 bath a week, and a couple of showers (she's 7)

mousymouse · 07/12/2010 19:05

every other evening or more often if needed - always when there was pasta for dinner :o
ds has eczema and I feel he needs it to strip away the layers of cream.

InmaculadaConcepcion · 07/12/2010 19:36

Every evening for DD1 - but she's only 10mo and tends to have various items of food stuck in her hair and bodily crevices.

Plus, it's part of her bed-time regime (not that it relaxes her at all, she's always full of beans immediately post-bath...)

Firawla · 07/12/2010 20:10

normally every day but they have both been getting colds and ill lately so have been doing it quite a bit less as it seems to make them worse sometimes?

debka · 07/12/2010 20:38

every night, also part of her routine. Mummy is lucky if she gets one once a week... Blush

LadyOfTheFlowers · 07/12/2010 20:42

3 boys in a bath tub, ages 5, 4 and 2. Needless to say, it is NOT every day!

DD most days as she is weaning and needs it.

MaudOHara · 07/12/2010 20:47

As babies mine would get bathed every day as part of their routine to get them to bed.

As they got older its less and less as they don't actually need it.

Then when they start the early part of puberty they need a shower every day

strongblackcoffee · 07/12/2010 20:49

2 or 3 times a week (they're 3 & 5)

Every night when she was little. She got in with me.

undercovasanta · 07/12/2010 20:55

About 4 nights a week (they are 1.5yo and 4yo).

JetLi · 07/12/2010 20:58

Every night in with me - part of the evening ritual. I have a tendency towards eczema, DD doesn't. In an adult-depth bath I add about half a teaspoon of Halo & Horns bubble bath & that does us. She loves the bath TBH. That amount of decent enough bubble bath doesn't affect mine (or her) skin at all adversely. DP does the drying & the PJ's & its half an hours family time for us.

MumOfAPickle · 07/12/2010 21:00

We aim for every other night but every now and then it might stretch to a third night Blush
(DS 2.9 & DD 11 weeks - they go in together)

It depends what we're doing and who's home - its so much easier when both me & DH are around as I can take DD out and he carries on with DS

taffetazatyousantaclaus · 07/12/2010 21:04

DS(7) 3 times per week, sometimes bath, sometimes shower. Deal is if he has a shower in our bathroom, he has to clean it with the windscreen wiper thing. He loves it and is in there for hours Xmas Grin

DD (4) bath every other night.

DD has very different hair to DS, so hers gets washed every bath time, DS's hair just once a week, after swimming.

taffetazatyousantaclaus · 07/12/2010 21:05

Oh and DS also has a shower or bath as soon as football is over on a Sat as he is filthy

biscuitsandbandages · 07/12/2010 21:07

when they look grubby - which works out a couple of times a week in the winter - more often in the summer as they are hot sweaty little things.

Water is not good for your skin :)

On school nights it's every night. Weekends every other night (or 2 Blush). I only used to get a bath once a week when I was a child.

ChildofIsis · 07/12/2010 21:12

My DD has mild excema, we were warned not to bathe her too often by the hospital midwives when she was born.
She was 16 days overdue and had very dry cracked skin.
It probably works out 3x a week with aqueous in the water.
Always on a saturday after swimming lesson.
