I had a while where I thought we would stick with two but was having thoughts of a third by the time my second was about 2yrs 2mths and was pregnant started trying for a thrid when second was 2yrs 9mts.

beckynbump · 26/11/2010 10:26

Always knew I wanted a third, from the moment I gave birth to my second. Was going to wait until DD number 2 was a little older, but then suddenly decided I wasn't getting any younger (38) and hubby and I decided to try again. Weeks later I found out I was pregnant. When this one is born in the summer I will have a 3 year old and a 1.5 year old. Crazy , mad times as I work full time and hubby works away for a couple of weeks at a time but we really cannot wait. Hope you are able to make the right decision for you.

IWouldNotCouldNotWithAGoat · 26/11/2010 10:35

I have always known I wanted two.

No way in hell do I want a third!

I have one of each though. I think maybe I might have been more tempted otherwise.

yeah i'm not getting any younger either! and the thought of an 'easy' life with my two lovely boys is very tempting... but could i live with the decision later in life? i do wonder if gender is the thing, even though i am delighted with 2 boys i have always kind of imagined having a daughter...

I know of someone who had 8 boys (yes, 8!). She tried one last time for a girl and had...triplet boys.

Stop thinking about a third, you've only just had the second. Just enjoy him and your eldest - relaxing about it will probably help you make your decision, later!

moajab · 26/11/2010 14:41

I knew that I'd be having a third when i realised that 8 weeks had gone by since my last period..... :) Definitly don't regret it though and having three boys is great fun if exhausting!

stinkypants · 26/11/2010 19:33

i know you're right, it's hard not to daydream a bit - it also affects future house-moving decisions, as we're pretty tight here anyway.
getting pregnant by mistake right now would be an interesting one - scary thought! (-:

I asked dh about having number 3 when ds1 was 3 and dd was under one. I still think I would have had 3 if I had known what it would be like but it is a massive difference to having 2.

NormaStanleyFletcher · 26/11/2010 19:40

I realised I we were having a third when the pregnancy test confirmed that my merina coil had failed and I was 18 weeks pg.

Snip after that (though that has not been trouble free either!)

thisisyesterday · 26/11/2010 19:42

i knew as soon as i had ds2 that i wanted another one! was ready to start tryting when he was about 8 weeks old lol

thankfully dp wasn't so keen, but we did have number 3, with a 19 month age gap

it's great! 3 is a fab number of children to have

MitchyInge · 26/11/2010 19:45

I didn't. I suspect my 'date' put holes in the condom. Hmm

Roo83 · 26/11/2010 19:46

I always wanted 2, a boy and a girl, ds is 2.5yrs and dd is 3 months. However, since having dd I am now desperate for a 3rd and 4th! I think about it a lot and can't bear the thought that I might never have another baby :-( Unfortunately me and dp always agreed on 2,at the moment he's adamant he doesn't want any more, but I guess we'll see how he feels in a year or so's time. What does your dp think?

stinkypants · 26/11/2010 19:57

aah, well he says no at the moment but hasnt ruled it out and joins in discussing the ifs / hows etc.
when my 2 ds's are hard work i feel it's a no but as soon as they smile at me unexpectedly or i watch them peacefully asleep i think i could have 4!!

Adair · 26/11/2010 20:07

We always talked about having 4. Then had decided that just having our two were pretty lovely and actually life was peachy. Then had a pregnancy 'scare' where we realised we were both GUTTED that actually, I wasn't pregnant. So started actively trying and (very luckily) got pregnant straight away! Am due in Jan...

stinkypants · 26/11/2010 20:11

oh congratulations! that's a lovely story (-:
What have you got and do you know what you're having?

Adair · 26/11/2010 20:25

We have dd 4 and ds 2 and will be having another ds - most likely called Max!

Was a bit worried as ds kept saying 'squash baby' and 'go away baby' to my bump Confused but I took the kids to my last midwife appointment. Dd loved hearing the heartbeat. We said to ds, can you hear your baby brother?' and he said 'Baby Max laughing! Ha ha ha... like that!'. Grin Since then he has been a LOT more positive. Phew.

eidsvold · 26/11/2010 20:39

when I had dd2 I knew I was not finished. Once I had had dd3 - I knew I was finished.

I love my three dds but the jump from 2 to 3 is harder than from 1 to 2 I felt. Just seemed to take longer to get organised and in the car for example. My dd1 was only 4 y 8mth when I had dd3.

Boozilla · 26/11/2010 20:42

er...Norma? I have 3 DCs and a merina coil. Are you serious??

[gulps large glass of wine and runs to toilet to dust off old pregnancy test]...

InkyStamp · 26/11/2010 20:43

No

nameymcnamechange · 26/11/2010 20:47

I was so euphoric after birth of dc2 that I started planning no. 3 straight away. I just thought I could do it all again immediately.

Luckily (cos I was v nealy 41 at the time) reality set in and I got ground down by workload of newborn and a preschooler realised that two was just perfect for me after all Grin.

racmac · 26/11/2010 20:47

As soon as i had ds2 i decided i wanted ds3!
I was pg 10 months later
