It's for A316 eng lit- 19th c novel.

Textual analysis.

Read the book, know the passage well but can't get my thoughts together.

Kick me up the bum.

yep - it took months but it is posted now

winnybella · 31/10/2010 16:30

But that's the problem- I can't even think about the intro- it should start off strong and to the point and I can't write that opening sentence.

I do get good marks usually, so it should be within my capabilities, but it seems nearly impossible at the mo.

FFS.

Never start with the intro. Do the thing you didn't want to do. Do the boring para by para analysis. Just get stuck in to the first bit and then you will be in the zone and the ideas will come. Really they will! The strong opening sentence will come when you know what you have written. Trust me!

You're both right, I know.

Am fortifying myself with some chocolate cake.

I think DP will take DD out, so I'll have some peace.

Well done, Prolesworth Smile

I am afraid that my absence didn't signify that I was busy with the tma: DP and DD took ages to go out so I did some housework and when they finally left it was for only 15 minutes and I had to prepare dinner and then I bf DD for ages-she went to bed at 10:20 Shock

I've just sat down with a glass of wine. Will try to work for a bit but maybe it would be more sensible to go to bed and wake up early and start then.

Arrrgh.

Are you up yet?

Have you started?

(Is this helping?)

Yes, DP took DD out to meet her godfather, so I have a couple of hours.

But now I'm not sure which novel to write on (well, just a passage).

Tricky.

And yes, it is helping!Thanks.

Winnybella - what's the book/passage you've chosen? Is it like the first TMA on A210 on p&p - FIS, focalisation, that sort of thing?

winnybella · 01/11/2010 09:55

Yep, but I feel it has to go deeper than the way we did it for A210 iyswim.

It's either Northanger Abbey or Jane Eyre.

Struggling here. JE more interesting (Bertha, issues of race, imperialism etc), NA easy (overactive imagination, Gothic etc), but somehow it doesn't seem 'meaty' enough to really get my teeth into it. Trying to go with NA as planned, but am just writing some notes, meh, and if I want to do JE, I would have to read a few chapters in coursebook and I haven't got the time.

When will you get your exam results, NCOT?

OP posts:
NiceCupOfTea · 01/11/2010 10:03

Hi,

Results are due next month (some time in the second week, I think). Reading Woman in White at the mo - great stuff. Got a feeling some of the other books might not be such a good read, though! What's the passage you have to analyse? (I've got all the books already, so I can look it up.) Maybe I can offer some deep and meaningful insight to inspire you ... Hmm

Thank you, Prolesworth Grin

I sent an email to my tutor this morning asking about the grace period (ie deadline at noon, but can submit til midnight) and he wrote back saying I can have a couple of days more...I didn't even ask for an extension Shock

Did say that I was struggling, though.

So I might have enough time now to read what I need to re JE.

Now just waiting for the roast chicken to be done. And the dishwasher just broke down, so will have a huge pile to wash.

Anyway, will work on the essay later tonight, so all encouragement and good vibes are very welcome! And Katy's whip, too Grin
