Mine are due to sent out next week for D843 Discourse Analysis (no I'm not quite sure what it means either!) I just need to finish my ECA for D821 that's due in on the 20th Sept first.

I'm waiting for mine too, SK277 (Human Biology), they are online as PDFs already though so I've started reading.

daisychicken · 11/09/2010 14:43

Mine arrived yesterday and all looks very daunting! I have made a note of all the TMA/iCMA's but am waiting for the website/forum to be opened on Sept 23rd for the timetable!

I am doing K101 Introduction to Health and Social Care.

AspieGirl · 11/09/2010 15:33

I'm waiting for S205 (Molecular World)to arrive.

Must be mad to be doing it alongside my p.t. bio course, but I really want to do it, and I'll never do it if I wait, so hubby said I'm pretty much full time anyway with my horrid timetable so might as well go for it.

Really looking forward to it.

Hopefully I'll get the Chemistry Diploma or whatever to go alongside my Bio degree. Might help with postgrad stuff.

:)

juneybean · 11/09/2010 15:36

I was going to do E115 but chickened out so will be watching how you get on Bonkerz as I believe it's all new this year?

Bonkerz · 11/09/2010 15:38

yes juneybean it is all new this year beacuse they have combined 2 30 point courses. BUt the E100 was new last year and despite the teething problems it was a very good course that taught me alot!

MarsLady · 11/09/2010 15:48

I miss those days. Sad Still I have my BA. Now I just yearn for another... maybe I should just enroll again. Sigh...

megonthemoon · 11/09/2010 15:51

I got mine a couple of days ago :) 9 text books and 5 DVDs - gulp! And it's my due date tomorrow so I'm suddenly wondering if I was crazy attempting to do an OU course while on mat leave...

Doing MST121 Understanding Maths

cordonbleugh · 11/09/2010 16:17

eek meg! It will certainly keep you occupied!

Daisy, I did k101 last year and it was really good. Smile

Am slightly apprehensive about doing 90 points in one go, but I only work 20 hours a week and DD starts school the week after next so should have plenty of time!

Had to force myself to go out this afternoon otherwise I would have been looking out of the window for the delivery van all the time!

Bonkerz I did E123 and E124 the year before then took time out from studying (went straight to OU from doing my level 3 lol)

I may do the E115 next year!

foxypar4 · 11/09/2010 17:06

My books for SDK125 arrived on Monday but I've not looked at them yet, had an ECA to finish which is now done and needed to catch up on my other course too.

I love getting the materials, it's so exciting. DH is also studying with OU so it's double the fun in this house! We've had 16 books between us in the last couple of weeks.

Hope everyone gets their materials soon!

MumInBeds · 11/09/2010 17:36

juneybean I did E123 and E124 too and I've now had a gap before my next course, I'm on a whole new track though as I'm going for a Natural Sciences BSc.

cordonbleugh · 11/09/2010 18:19

16 books! I love getting my materials (too late to get them today now Sad ) but hope there's not too many in total for my courses!

I've been super organised though and brought a box file for each course to put all the stuff in in an attempt to be organised!

Hi webwiz! I'm starting D821 soon, really excited. Discourse analysis looks basically at how people construct their realities through language. There is micro DA which looks more at sentence construction like pauses, and macro DA which looks at the overarching themes of conversation and examines power relationships and how they are reproduced. I did my undergrad on a feminist topic using DA and really loved it, wasn't even like a project TBH. Hope you enjoy it

durga · 12/09/2010 14:40

I am starting Thought and experience: themes in the philosophy of mind (AA308). But I need to get my exam out of the way before I even think abou that.

NomDePlume · 12/09/2010 14:52

Mine arrived a week ago. Course starts 3/10/10.

SDK125 "Introducing health sciences: a case study approach"

It's my first course with them (30pts) and I'll be combining it it with my job so I'm excited to get started but a teeny bit anxious about how managable it's going to be, time-wise. Academically, it should be fine as it's only a L1 course.

webwiz · 12/09/2010 15:53

I've replied on your other thread Spikeycow!

foxypar4 · 14/09/2010 09:57

I'm doing SDK125 too NomDePlume and am looking forward to getting started. I've just finished SK123 Understanding Cancers and quite a lot of people on that course had done SDK125 and had good things to say about it. Good luck, hope you enjoy it.

schroeder · 15/09/2010 21:28

Meg I'm also doing MST121 :) Got the books last week but only just got the log on details so haven't had the chance to look at the web pages - am still in blissful ignorance of how soon anything is due in.

cordonbleugh · 18/09/2010 19:13

Oh no Prolesworth! One of mine (K217) is mostly online but we still have books! I can't imagine not being able to use my lovely highlighters in a shiny new text book!

I know they're trying to cut costs, but I'm quite disappointed that they didn't even provide us with a study planner. Or assessment guide.

Still love OU though!

Got my AA316 The 19th Century Novel stuff over a week ago. Aside from having a sneak at the TMAs, I haven't had a chance to look yet. Very nervous about this course...
