Gasping for air here too Sputnik (mal comune mezzo gaudio?) - and we are deep north, so I can only imagine what it is like being in Rome...

Unfortunately we have to wait another month or so before going off on hols and that feels like a long time right now!!!(except DD, who goes off with my parents for a week... Feeling a bit worried about that too!).

Re: car seat - I think over 18 Kgs is OK to use booster only - it is pain to have to carry the full seat to the UK everytime we go actually (every time we have to search for it in the airport...). And then it is almost impossible to keep her strapped in - she will wriggle out of the straps the moment you turn around...

Mind you at the moment she has turned into the spawn of satan - it's impossible to make her do anything without her throwing herself on the floor screaming her head off and throwing a huge tantrum... argh pls tell me it's just the terrible twos and it will pass?

Rosa · 16/07/2010 21:18

Hot hot here as well...Have fun in the Uk Gio and Sput in time for the sales lucky things...If the key for the laptop was a bit faster I would do some online sales buying but I need to sit on the balcony for it to go faster but my fingers slide off the keys !
I thought that up to a certain height they had to have a back in a seat ...It on the dvlc website as thats where I got dd1 info from when she was just on the cusp. I went to Halfords and we tried them all out ! I keep them there as i couldn't even think about bringing them up with us flight change at LGW would be impossible !!!!
One week of hols left and then its to the UK.....Am looking forward to that as well even though not sure when dh will be joining us hopefully for a week/ 10 days !
Gio eeek about the nits a good Balsamo like the Garnier pot ones and a nit comb are fab ..According to my sis whose 3 went through a ton of them.

Francagoestohollywood · 20/07/2010 14:48

Hello everyone, sorry I disappeared but I went to the seaside and didn't have a laptop, etc.

I hope you have all survived the heat wave and that those of you in the UK are enjoying a fresher weather.

It was so hot on last friday in the adriatic sea, that the temperature of the sea must have topped 30 degrees, so, not even a swim helped!

Gio, I hope you got rid of the awful nits. The only time I had them, I was 18 and caught them on the ferry from Greece.

Hi Franca ....I know it was terrible on Friday we were in the pool for an hour then in the sea for another it was teh only way. The elctric kept blowing so the AC diddn't work and of course dh wasn't here !!!!! The dds must have had 5 showers in the pm!!!
Got minirosa now with a funny tummy it is similar to dd1 last week but surely a virus can't take a week to incubate??? Anyway hope she clears up by tom as I have to go and buy bathroom things and get my nipotina so dh will have both ........( Rosa panics as dh doesn't understand the little one at times ...well less than me !!)
Roll on the wet and cold Uk next week......( Please no just a bit of sun would be nice !)

Francagoestohollywood · 20/07/2010 16:22

I'm not sure how long tummy bugs take to incubate, maybe 48 hrs?
Having said that she might have caught it from someone else, lots of nasty bugs seem to be doing the rounds (again!). I've just spoken to a dear friend whose dd (they are at the seaside) has just had a massive otite

OP posts:
Rosa · 24/07/2010 13:43

POpping in at Venice for case changing and everything else . Thankfully its not so hot here at the moment but the outside of my fridge is in fact is very very hot !!!!!!! Almost scotta to touch ......

Uk from Martedi and I will be solo so computer time might be a bit limited

Happy Agosto to to all ......... WIll pop in when I can !

BananaGio · 25/07/2010 09:07

you can tell it's nearly Agosto-Little Italy is closing down! Loving the UK, cool, overcast, drizzle- perfect! Had a visit to Thomas Land-probably the best day of DS's life! Eaten way too many pub lunches. Bought up H&M, George and the Next sale for DS. Lovely! Looking forward to toscana and mare though. Have a lovely Agosto all!

Francagoestohollywood · 26/07/2010 18:48

Hi, we are still on the continente, but will head to sicily in 12 days.

Rosa, have a lovely time back in Cornwall! All the people in the UK: have a massive slice of a nice M&S cake (carrot cake for instance) on my behalf...

OP posts:
Sputnik · 26/07/2010 20:40

Well I'm back, no M&S cake but ate everything else in sight.
It didn't rain too much, considering we were in Wales. Totally what I needed anyway. Luckily Rome has cooled down a bit now.
Also managed a visit to Cambridge and stayed with my sister. We drove past Penthe's new house, she is a brave woman!

TheMysticMasseuse · 28/07/2010 14:23

just popping in to say hi to everyone! I am actually IN Italy at the moment so feel rather close to all of you

thins on my end are going ok, I am so sorry I don't drop by more often.

I do lurk from time to time though!

baci a tutte

Rosa · 30/07/2010 14:06

Been to the beach for 2 days and dds played in the garden in pants and vests so it must have been warm. Today drizzle and yuck so I guess that was my summer.......
Sput glad you had a good time and Franca I will be hitting the M&S food section as soon as I can manage it but I can't face the town with both of them so am going to start the clothes shopping on line as am not sure how and when can do it. DH doesn't come over until 22 Aug ...
Baci a tt

minervaitalica · 02/08/2010 14:29

But I am off to the beach next week too - DD is already there with GPs... I thought I would love the time off but I miss her tremendously!!!!!

Francagoestohollywood · 02/08/2010 17:26

We are heading south on friday... so more hot weatehr is on the way for us...

Minerva don't you have sushi restaurants in the NE? In Milan there are thousands of sushi restaurants, I can't takeit anynore

Hey Franca, I was thinking of you the other day as I found girl's bikini bottoms without the top in good old UPIM. Got one age 7 for DD and they appeared to have them up to 10-12.

Having a relaxing time up the mountain atm, I'm really enjoying the house and the quiet and resh air. Not too hot either. Much as I love the Rome one it's not the kind of place you can spend the whole day in IYKWIM.

Plus plus plus, someone posted a link to the new Ikea catalogue which is out on the US site, here if you're interested. So I've been browsing that on and off all day.

Hi Minerva!

Sputnik · 02/08/2010 20:53

oops forgot the link
God what a saddo I am, the highlight of my week is the new Ikea catalogue. Maybe I should start reading Twighlight or something.

Sputnik · 02/08/2010 20:54

Or Twilight even

Francagoestohollywood · 03/08/2010 11:25

Yo Sputnik!
Yes, good old UPIM! And they are nice, I fi9nd. There is alos another place where I found a size 6 costume with no top: Z. Dd didn't really need another costume, but I actually bought it and praised the commessa for stocking them!

Oh gosh. A new IKEA catalogue would make my day too . In fact I'm quite grateful that you posted a link, this is how I'll spend my afternoon.
We are in the countryside, the kids are loving it... I, instead, crave some urban life... a virtual trip to IKEA is just what I need!!!!

OP posts:
Francagoestohollywood · 03/08/2010 11:26

Oh no! Step away from Twilight!! ...

OP posts:
TheMysticMasseuse · 04/08/2010 09:56

NOOOO go on read twilight!!! And then you can all come and hang out on the twisluts thread and take the piss out of it and read all the fabulous fanfic that goes with it.

Actually. I don't think you should bother reading the books. they are so bad. Just watch the movies, and then you can jump straight into the fanfic Plus you get to ogle Robert Pattinson, which is always a good thing.

I am in the South already, countryside with beach 10 kms away. Some days I am so lazy I don't even want to make the drive. Dds are so happy, my parents are so happy... I miss my DH. He's coming on friday.

Francagoestohollywood · 04/08/2010 15:53

Oh I thought you were in Switzerland MM! Are you in Cal? We won't pass you by this time. We are taking the freccia rossa to Naples and then the ferry this time. Speriamo in bene!!!

I'd follow your advise Masseuse, but as much as I tried, I really seem to find RP immensely unattractive ! Will you forgive me?

Instead, I've recently re watched My own private Idaho (one of my fav movies) and have rekindled my love for River Phoenix (and lets face it also Keanu Reeves)

OP posts:
TheMysticMasseuse · 04/08/2010 16:40

if they ain't dead they just don't do it for you Franca, eh?

Let's put it this way: RP is undead in Twilight. Any better?

(I am pretending I didn't hear "immensely unattractive" )

Francagoestohollywood · 04/08/2010 17:50

Even undead he really doesn't do it for me... try to forgive me, think of all the men we fancy ... Lester and the bunk, for instance!

OP posts:
Sputnik · 04/08/2010 20:33

I wondered if that would make you delurk MM!
I so did vampires when I was 17 already, sorry.

Rosa · 04/08/2010 20:40

I keep hovering on picking up Twilight...Maybe. All go here dd doing swimming lessons first thing then is racing back top pick up mini rompe and trying to do something for the rest of the day. Weather is a bit cosi cosi and both girls are loosing the lovely golden tan they had.....
DD1 is missing papa and we have another 2 weeks to go before he arrives. GPs are great but nonno is getting a bit old now ..
Franca have a great time and MM glad all is well .
Sput as for IKEA I am going on to check they haven't removed my bathroom....... ( fingers crossed as we have had the plumbing measured for it !!!) Thanks ....

TheMysticMasseuse · 04/08/2010 21:31

ah no, you see, I keep thinking that Jimmy would have made an excellent cocky vampire. The Bunk I want very much alive and quipping

Srsly. My addiction is ridiculous. I am going to force my dds to be extremely silly and immature when they are teenagers in the hope that when they reach their thirties they'll be respectable madri di famiglia, not silly old bints like me
