You are probably right Sputnik - probably need to find a DIY solution for nets. Just something else to think about lol, and I have to work this saturday. Oh well.

BTW, DD's birthday is coming up in a couple of weeks, and was thinking about doing a family BBQ with a Middle-Eastern theme (you know - mezze as starters, then shish kebabs that type of thing). Too out there for a fairly traditional (but not unadventurous Italian family)?

Rosa · 07/07/2010 12:50

I have had 'home made' mozzi nets for 8 years and they work fine. Tip is to cut an extra 3 /4 inches either side so you have overlap. Alos I have odd sized windows so when I take them down I end up with the wrong one in each window so have a couple of spare ones and I overlap with pegs!!!!! I got mine in SME / Castorama and worth every penny ...I will be having proper ones I hope but they are on the list next spring if we have any money left !!
MRosa cold is a bit better she is still a bit snotty though. Waiting for dd1 to go down with it now........
Its much cooler now and enjoyable here now the afa has gone but MIL coming for the day domani !!!!

Hello ragazze!
Hello Minerva, glad to see you again and that things/work etc are going well. I also approve of the middle eastern theme for your dd's birthday.

I've just come back from le marche, I left the dc there with my mother and my aunt, and I'll go back in a few days once I sorted out a few things here.
Luckily also Milan appears to have cooled down a little bit. There aren't many mosquitos here (yet), I think they must have done a disinfestazione.
But also I don't seem to be targeted that heavily my them, boh!

I'm off to check the saldi out.

how were the saldi Franca? I keep wanting to go but the heat is beating me and keeping me caged indoors.
have just killed a total GIT of a mozzie after he bit ds 14 times on his back and bum in 5 mins while we were making a rail track. Poor ds!!
buffet sounds fab Minerva.

Francagoestohollywood · 09/07/2010 13:55

Ooooh the saldi were good! I went to my fav boutique and they were already having 50% off, I got a pair of Miu miu sandals at 110 euros. They are perfect!

Today I got a few bargains at Oysho, and I now consider my self done for the season.

BananaGio · 13/07/2010 06:04

just horrible. we have been scratching for ages, I kept checking and couldn't see anything so put it down to heat. When we went to ped last week I got her to check and she said there was nothing (and prescribed v expensive shampoo for dermatological condition). Then I felt something move on my head yesterday......

Sputnik · 13/07/2010 15:57

DD's school were selling special bug buster combs, they are meant to be very good. So far no bugs here.
Back in Rome and OMG I am dying. We don't even have any fans here. Looking forward to leaving for UK on thursday, hoping for some cool.

DelGirl · 13/07/2010 16:06

Sputnik · 13/07/2010 16:41

Sputnik · 13/07/2010 21:31

A rainy week in Bournemouth totally apeals atm!

DelGirl · 13/07/2010 22:20

well the offer is there

Sputnik · 14/07/2010 09:03

We are totally broke, otherwise I'd consider it!

BananaGio · 14/07/2010 10:48

just started a thread re this but you ladies may be able to help. Having sudden panic re UK tomorrow and car seats. Last time we were there car seat was seeming pretty small my parents have for him. They have a booster seat as well. Will that be OK for him? He is 20 kilos, 1.08 metres and 3.9 years. Am so out of touch with regulations there.
Saw in paper yesterday went over 40 degrees and Friday is meant to be the peak! Am counting the minutes til flight tomorrow........

DelGirl · 14/07/2010 11:50

Has the booster got a back on it?

DelGirl · 14/07/2010 11:55

I think a booster cushion only will be fine but witha back is better. www.childcarseats.org.uk/types/index.htm

Sputnik · 14/07/2010 11:56

We're taking a booster for DD, she's a little bigger. We used it last year too and I remember researching it a bit, I'm pretty sure you can use them for over 18kg.

BananaGio · 14/07/2010 12:00

no it doesnt have a back on it - just a seat. am sure will be ok-he is a hefty child! am so Italian hadnt even thought of this as we now shamefully shove him in the back of friends cars/taxis etc without a seat over here

DelGirl · 14/07/2010 14:38

Yes, it is legal just to use the seat without a back on it
