Nursery equipment

I'm 27 weeks pregnant and starting to think about getting a nursery ready.

I've read a few books telling me what equipment I should get but I'd really like to know what "real-life" parents have to say about this. Are there any absolute essentials- anything I don't need to get?

I live in Camden, North London.. can anyone recommend good places to buy baby stuff?

Mine came from Argos (its pine though but they had quite a range) and they will deliver

Thanks Ems and Alison,

Went to Ikea today and bought it there. I did check Next online and M&S (but M&S Home doesn't work online...).
I also looked at Aubert - the French specialist - they had loads and at a reasonable price. In case anyone looks for a French alternative.
I think it's www.aubert.fr

Excellent Pupuce, cant believe how at 37 weeks pregnant you can just 'pop' into IKEA! Takes me a year to work up to it each time!

Ems I was Christmas shopping in Oxford Street on my due date in an effort to hurry him up - it didn't work. I know what you mean about Ikea though

IKEA is actually pretty "dead" week days and Saturday AM... Forget Sunday's though !
