What factor sun cream do you wear?

Dh and I were talking about when we were kids and high factor sun cream was 8, and most of the time we wore SPF4 (we're both in our late 30s, so this was the 70s).
Now we routinely wear SPF30 and both of us have quite "tough" skins, not sensitive at all.

So what SPF do you wear?

My SIL just rang and while we were chatting she thanked me for having her 14 yo DD over at the weekend and for nagging her to put suncream on while in the pool with the kids!

It was easy I said - I told what I'd said which was "Do you want to get skin cancer?" and she said "no" so I handed her the suncream and she put some on. Simple! She was so busy being 14 and cooooool and I think seeing my two insisting on putting more cream on might have changed her thinking. Imagine and 3 yo influencing a 14 yo! Excellent.

15 on sunny days or abroad.

fqueenzebra · 18/07/2005 21:03

i don't actually know... but i only buy zinc or titanium oxide ones (avoid methyoxi-cinnamate, something like that). The ones I use I suppose are usually around 20-40. I don't like the chemical sunscreens, I don't think they're as safe or as effective.

factor 60 on face... 15 on rest of body, except forearms, which get 30. absolutely fanatic about keeping face out of the sun. am 42 but have no real wrinkles & believe it's partly genetic luck, partly massive amounts of skin-care.

when i think back on how we used to "fry" ourselves & use baby oil as "sunscreen"... & then have contests to see who was darkest. mad, completely mad.

as high as i can get - 60 usually, sometimes 40. thinking of progressing to artex this year.

fairydust · 18/07/2005 21:25
