Firstly i want to apologise for 'going off on one' on that other thread. That thread was about a specific case and i made it personal. I shouldnt have done but i got wound up and angry.

Secondly, Its bought to my attention the way i feel about the justice system and punishments for rapists.

I believe that the punishment should fit the crime. On the other thread i was called 'unhinged' and many other things but like i said i was wound up.

But i stand by what i said and am just taking my opinions away from that thread cause that thread is on a specific case iykwim

this probably makes no sense but im struggling to understand why people dont agree that nothing less than torture and death is good enough for a rapist?

and cause you cant tell tone of voice in a post im just letting you know that im not typing out of anger, more just thinking allowed.

i dont believe you can rehibitate a rapist, so therefor i can see how that is an acceptable punishment

the circle of violence would stop when the rapist was dead

Huggy please stop.

hercules · 05/07/2005 23:38

So, a 15 year old child who has been abused etc themselves and is clearly in need of serious help, should actually be tortured and shot? And you'd be happy to do this?

Gomez · 05/07/2005 23:39

But we are just going around in circles Huggy - you can't understand why people wouldn't and others (whilst understanding a deep anger and almost a 'gut' reaction to inflcit pain on someone who has inflicted deep pain and physical hurt) can't see the benefits to anyone of a physical, revenge driven retaliation. Impasse perhaps?

HappyHuggy · 05/07/2005 23:40

cant SG - it makes me angry

So go to MF - I still can't get on msn right now.

This is doing you no good.

Remember - woodlice underfoot in the next life, get your revenge then.

Please leave this.

I'm just wondering how this thread could be taken wrt others who have been victims of rape, especially recent ones, such as the case of justthinking? She still has the whole court case and reliving of it,to come up i believe.

better safe than sorry

i know your going to rip me to shreads for that and theres nothing i can say to stop you except that its so hard to get a rape conviction, the amount of 'innocent' rapists must be minute but of course according to them they're all innocent.

Of course it's a sensitive subject but doesnt mean we cant discuss it surely?

lou33 · 05/07/2005 23:45

i guess it depends how it's discussed really

HappyHuggy · 05/07/2005 23:45

i think its ok to be discussed, the title of the thread explains the content.

(lou have already checked and warned xxx)

hercules · 05/07/2005 23:46

Who's to say who has or hasnt been victims of abuse on this thread anyway? Why should it be assumed you must have never experienced such things if you dont agree with torture and death?

ScummyMummy · 05/07/2005 23:47

Huggy- I'm wondering if you or someone close to you has suffered a rape? Please don't answer if you don't want to. I'm just wondering if you've suffered some kind of terrible trauma which has informed your views.

HappyHuggy · 05/07/2005 23:47

im not assuming anything herculies but i dont think you were talking to me then?

OP posts:
ScummyMummy · 05/07/2005 23:47

good point Herc.

hercules · 05/07/2005 23:48

No, more to Lou really.

Caligula · 05/07/2005 23:48

HH the number may be minute. But even if it's only one, if it were your son, you'd want the state not to execute him.

lou33 · 05/07/2005 23:49

i never said that herc, was just thinking that this subject atm is v painful and recent for one poster in particular

lou33 · 05/07/2005 23:50

hh i think you misunderstood her reaction btw

HappyHuggy · 05/07/2005 23:51

i can see the sense in what you say caligia, i really can but that doesnt change the fact that rapists ought to receive a punishment fitting the crime. Unbearable pain and long lasting torture ending in the being put out of there misery and making the world a safer place
