Am I the only sad person who has got hooked on Survivor? All my friends rather piously say"I dont have time to watch telly"and make me feel like a couch potato.
Anyway I want to have a natter and a bitch about the programme so if there are any of the several million viewers out there ....

Tusky · 26/06/2001 22:09

no you aren't the only saddo - I've been watching it on and off (ditto Big Brother) - it's getting more interesting now I must say. No one on the island is particularly likeable - esp
Eve who is very scary. The whole tribal council bit is a hoot - does that Mark Austin repair to a luxury cabin in the middle of the island ? peculiar but quite watchable....

Debsb · 27/06/2001 11:08

Not watched them all, but I have watched quite a few.
Anyway, I think Charlottes going to win it. They're all so convinced she's useless that no-one bothered voting her off yet, so I can see her still around at the end.
Also, how come she stayed on so long anyway? Couldn't be anything to do with her rather obvious attributes? (and I don't mean her ability to skin a rat)

Binza · 27/06/2001 19:18

I'm totally hooked on it - much more interesting than BB which is suffering because it's all been done before. I didn't like Charlotte at all but I do feel sorry for her now as Eve,Zoe and Jackie are such childish bitches and as for Richard I wouldn't trust him at all. In fact last night even Mick showed a rather different side to himself for the first time. Sadly I think it will come down to one of those four and I wouldn't want any of them to win - particularly Jackie who has done nothing but be exceptionally two-faced. By the way is Zoe by any chance a lesbian? Not that I have a problem with it but I just wondered if I was jumping to the wrong conclusion following her phonecall home the other night.

Boo321 · 27/06/2001 21:34

I cant understand why Charlotte has not been kicked out before her laugh is SO irritating and did you know she is married ..all that messing about with sulky Adrian shouldn't be allowed.
And as for Jackie she needs a good slap what a silly cow she is I wonder what she will think of herself when she watches it on tv, she was so rude about James.
Pete or Charlotte will be the next to go I reckon and I think Eve may end up winning.Richard is too scary and all the girls will vote him off.
I would have liked to see Andy or James win.

OP posts:
Binza · 27/06/2001 22:17

Boo321, an interesting nickname by the way. Yup I did know Charlotte was married and that's why I didn't like her much as I thought it was a bit off behaving like that with Useless Adrian when her husband and god knows how many others who know her would see it.
I would like to have seen Andy win as he reminds me of my friends husband.James was very calm on last nights program when he was talking about the others and I thought it was to his credit - unlike JJ who just took every opportunity to slag everyone else off. It'll be Pete or Charlotte off next.

Boo321 · 28/06/2001 12:33

Binza youre a fine one to comment on nicknames!!
I have never wathed the chat show bit afterwards as the one I did watch I found rather nauseating.
James is the father of my nieces best friend...
beat that!!
Do you get anymore info on that follow up programme?PS..you can call me just plain old Boo if you want.

OP posts:
Binza · 28/06/2001 20:10

Hi Boo, You know when you're trawling through the message boards and there's only so much showing? Well I got a bit worried as all I could see on this one was "you're a fine one..." and I thought you were launching in on me. Yes it is a bit of a silly name I agree. Now back to Survivor. You do get a bit more info on the follow ups but more interestingly you get that persons reaction to some of the comments others have been making about them that they are seeing for the first time. The last three ie Simon,Andy and James have all been very reserved in their reactions and all have a problem with Richard. Some of the earlier ones ie JJ, Adrian and Sarah have had a good old bitch about the others and have come across as sore losers. God I sound such a bore. It's one of my all time favourite things though - people watching.

Boo321 · 28/06/2001 20:39

Binza I actually spoke to a real live person today who actually watches it !!That makes the 5 of us then!!Mind you they have been saying its a flop.
Yeah people watching, a splendid pastime. I love it when we are out trying to work out whats going on at other peoples tables, whos with who etc .
I shall make more of an effort to watch the follow up in the future .

OP posts:
Lil · 29/06/2001 08:42

Here's another one who watches it (when I remember). I've always thought that ironically the women will be left to win it. Why? because the men are always seen to be stronger and a threat so they get voted off - what do you think?

Binza · 29/06/2001 12:43

People watching is just the best free entertainment you can partake in. My SIL and I have such a giggle doing it. We once went on holiday together with her sister and everyday on the beach it was like a real live soap-opera. We had everyone sussed out - who wasn't with their spouse, who was having relationship problems etc. Body-language can speak volumes! She has a hotel so there's always somebody to amuse or intrigue us there.
So gradually the Survivor audience is coming out of the woodwork huh. You're right Lil about the women but isn't it typical that if you put a whole load of them together they inevitably start bitching? Why is this? Men may have their faults( and plenty of them judging by another on-going message) but I prefer their company as there aren't usually any hidden agendas with them. They're just not naturally as crafty as women, well not in my experience anyway. I have to say though that conditions on that island are far from pleasant, what with the rats and snakes etc, and all of the woman have coped extemely well with it. Or maybe we've all been taken in and they go off to luxury cabins like Tusky said.

Boo321 · 29/06/2001 21:25

I assumed at the beginning that it would be a man winning ,I dont know why ,stronger I suppose but now I am certain that it will be one of the girls. The conditions are very tough but not everyone seems to have lost weight ie jackie or eve(what was that about women bitching Binza!!) and have they really not cleaned ther teeth for 3 weeks.

OP posts:
Tusky · 29/06/2001 22:05

I think some of them took a toothbrush as their luxury item - Zoe's teeth look very white and clean !

Boo321 · 03/07/2001 20:28

Well, what did you all think of Poor Ole Pete's departure?
I think it was the right thing to do , he did seem to have lost the plot just lately , all that crying and stuff.Poor chap was obviously starving, he was so much bigger than say Eve but they all get the same food portions.
Did you notice Charlottes beautifully shaped eyebrows?how does she manage that without a mirror?
Do you think Richard was being truly honourable in telling Pete the bad news or was he just making sure that he would get his vote if he gets to the last two.?
They seem to have stopped catching fish lately

Tlb · 09/07/2001 10:23

I absolutely adore Survivor and so does my husband - we are glued to the TV on Monday nights.

My vote goes for Charlotte to win the sneaky little you know what she has only had one vote against her which will count in the event of a 'tie break' etc but I don't think she should win. Zoe is a one (or Zowie as Andy used to spell it!) I like Mick personally as he reminds me of a good friend and i think he has the skills to deserve to win it. I think you are right about the men being voted off due to strength. Jackie who I thought would be gone very quickly has remained in the background quietly getting on with it and strring it up so I reckon she'll be around a while.

My prediction for tonight is that Charlotte will tell everyone that Richard told Pete he was going against the wishes of the tribe and they'll decide to vote Ricahrd off instead of Charlotte and so again she remains on the island even longer...

On the teeth front - the whole thing is sponsored by Macleans toothpaste so you can't tell me they haven't got toothpaste etc - wouldn't be much of an ad would it. And have you noticed they all seem to be carrying nivea sun cream around with them.

AND.. they must have tweezers or something as there doesn't seem to be any hairy legs, armpits or bikinis lines either - I would look like a gorillas by now if I hadn't got something!

Boo321 · 09/07/2001 13:50

Tlb,you may well be right about Charlotte telling everyone about Richard, I never thought about that, who knows what you would do for 1m £s!! I have warmed to Charlotte a little but I can't stand any of the other girls!
Roll on 9 pm.....

OP posts:
Tlb · 09/07/2001 15:39

Boo - how could you warm to charlotte - resist - it is all part of her plan to win sympathy..! Too late really.

I tell you what I thought was a trifle bizarre was this business of secret messages via the bible - the producers obviously picked up on this and made appropriate t-shirts for pete to draw strength from at last weeks tribal council when andy and et al were wearing them.

But as you say roll on 9pm.

Binza · 09/07/2001 21:55

Well now we know! It's getting more gripping every week and I don't know what I'm going to do when it finishes. Like Zoe I didn't see that one coming at all! I hated Richard last week but I have to admire the mental effort he's putting into winning. I did think Charlotte was a gonner ages ago but with all the back biting that's going on she's become very useful to some and may even last to the end now. Eve/evil is looking very iffy for next weeks vote unless she wins immunity. Roll on next Monday I say. Boo321 don't forget to watch the follow up with Zoe I think it could be very revealing!!!!

Tlb · 10/07/2001 09:21

The camp has split...Eve seems to be getting a mite obsessed with the rice issue don't you think and boy does Charlotte eat the lot - why doesn't eve just say something - I know I would! I wouldn't fancy my chances in a head to head with either Jackie or Richard who she claims is in her pocket rather smugly I thought!!

I quite liked Zoe (and yes I think she is a lesbian as previously mentioned) and thought her departure was a gracious one.

Did you see the 'jury' t-shirts last night - the letters spelt out R EVE NGE !!! It is getting weird..

Lil · 10/07/2001 10:17

help, am confused. What does the jury do? why were they sitting there lst night. i know I've missed something here on the final judging, how does it work???

Boo321 · 10/07/2001 12:03

Getting a bit juicy now ,I was a bit surprised about Zoe, but it has certainly made it more interesting and it was getting a little predictable when they kept picking off the other tribe.
Each time I watch it my loyalties change.I quite like Richard now and he was very kind to Charlotte about the video(thought that whole thing was a bit cruel to say the least).
Tbl,I think youre over estimating Charlottes brain power ,i think shes a bit too dim to scheme!
Evil Eve is the next one for the chop, shes got too full of herself lately and now without Zoe she'll have lost her confidence.
What do you think Mick is up to?I keep forgetting hes there at all, good tactic really ..
Lil I think the jury vote at the end when its down to the last two which is why it is important about all thats happened before ie who voted who off. All those bible refrences are a bit odd!are they a message to Richard who has petes bible?
My vote for the final two are currently...Richard and Charlotte!!

OP posts:
Binza · 10/07/2001 12:23

At first when Richard offered his prize to Charlotte I thought it was another tactic to try and break her completely as everyone had got pretty upset at watching their messages. Then I thought it was to win her round to his way of thinking and now I think it probably was genuine but did work in his favour in the long run. He's definately the one they should all watch out for as he seems the best at adapting his stratedgy depending on the immediate circumstances. It's a dangerous game he's playing but so far they all seem to trust him -fools. Mick is a bit of a low-key player but I think that's a deliberate ploy. He's going to have to win immunity though to secure a place and the challenges are very hit and miss now. I could tell last night exactly who was going to do well on the assalt course before they set off. I bet they had fun thinking up some of these challenges.

Emsiewill · 11/07/2001 15:18

Oh, the joy of finding someone else who watches - me & my husband are both addicted to this & BB, but we both agree that this is getting more interesting as time goes on. My personal feeling is that Charlotte (the Harlot...) will win, as they showed a clip of her a couple of weeks ago, and she was saying "the person who wins this will be the most devious, most nasty, most backbiting person" I think those words will come back to haunt her. Considering they've got no energy to fish, they stil find the energy to bitch & scheme. As for Mick - never trust a man who stuffs sausages up his backside (& then can't retrieve one of them.....!)

Pupuce · 11/07/2001 16:11

I think Richard and Charlotte will be the last 2. I don't think any of the participants yet know who won... they know who the last 2 were but have not seen the results of the vote.
I hope that we will get clarity on all their biblical references.... but yes I also enjoy watching the backstabbing - particularely when it's a bit surprising (like Zoe's eviction !!)

Dixie · 12/07/2001 11:01

I thought the double cross on Zoe was really funny, it now leaves mick & Eve as 1 alliance and Jackie, Charlotte & Richard as the other so it will be 3 - 2 voting wise (If Richard & Jackie stay loyal to charlotte that is). I think they will get rid of eve, then mick and then re-gang up up on charlotte. I don't like Charlotte really she was too bitchy in the beginning causing a split in her own tribe - however I'd quite like to see her win because when the tribes merged the 'old blue lot' were so horrid to the yellow lot it would serve them right! MY GOD I MUST SOUND SUCH A BORE TO HAVE GONE INTO THIS INTO SO MUCH DEPTH!!! but i like it and i can't help it!

Binza · 12/07/2001 19:27

Did anyone watch the follow up programme after Zoe got kicked off? If so what did I miss? Anything I should know about? I really wanted to hear her reaction to it.
