I vote for Codswallop. But only if she makes me a prefect and gives me some REAL POWER, like being biscuit monitor (no, M2T, you can't have one unless you ask NICELY)

OP posts:

Yeah well this thread doesn't have much to do with parenting though does it? It's a bit cliquey and the most prolific posters are probably the most attention-seeking ones. I have noticed a load of trolls recently (I thought I would join in the little game, but soon got bored!), who just cruise from thread to thread making silly little comments and then revelling in the attention. What has that got to do with Mumsnet?
It's a bit like Big Brother, vote off the least popular now - because obviously with a thread like this you will get members who will vye for popularity, and the rest will feel left out. A bit like being picked last in the school games team.

Sense of humour you say? How about a bit of niceness and genuineness for a change?

judetheobscure · 04/06/2003 22:45

I just took this thread as another "chat" thread, much like a conversation you might have down the pub or whatever. Didn't tech get asked to set up a separate "chat" area?

SamboM · 04/06/2003 22:47

Oh my god we could start a fight in a paper bloody bag. CHILL OUT!

Tortington · 04/06/2003 23:09

all custardy chilled am practically a yoghurty custard thing you get from tescos
i stated how those comments made me feel - it did make me feel that way ( the covered in shit could also be a metaphore for that extra little dig which may be had ) understand it or no - i still felt that way

everytime i posted which at the beginning was thought through and i tried to be reasonable = metaphorical kick

am sorry SD that you dont understand how this thread could be misinterpreted

rhubs, your analogy of school team summed it up for me i didnt think it fair

although i think two issues are here - the thread itself
and the right to make a comment with out feeling like crap

so as a very chilled custard am off to put the heatin on

lou33 · 05/06/2003 00:40

Please, no more arguing after the Guardian thread, it's too depressing. Don't we all come on here to relax after the stresses of the day?

ThanksForSpoilingIt · 05/06/2003 08:47

Custardo, you started your 1st post with the phrase "walks in to spoil everything". Well you certainly achieved your aim.

Goodbye.

M2T · 05/06/2003 10:40

D'you know what.... some folk just can't resist stirring up the sh*t. I just found this just now and I think it's pathetic!

I really do think that this particular sh*t stirrer only posted to spark this argument off. Perhaps backing up her/his point that Mumsnet has become volatile.

I think he/she needs to take a dose of his/her medicine.

GET A GRIP
GET A GRIP
GET A GRIP
GET A GRIP LA LAAAA

...how immature.... well I am only 25.

GeorginaA · 05/06/2003 11:09

M2T - youngster!

(gawd, it feels so good to say that.. in my mum and babies group I'm the youngest at 29!)

M2T · 05/06/2003 11:16

Oooo Georgina.... you're pushing 30!!

GeorginaA · 05/06/2003 11:33

Don't!

I found myself buying a Good Housekeeping the other day instead of a Cosmo - that's got to be a bad sign, hasn't it?!

Not only that, but the whole issue seemed to be devoted to ageing...

Before I had ds I was fit and healthy (well, okay, ish... but I didn't have to think about it). Now I have (mild, but still) varicose veins, mild carpal tunnel, weak pelvic floor, joint aches and pains (suspected arthritis as I'm the same age as my mum when she started getting it), poor memory and back ache. I'm falling apart!

I was only thinking the other day "well, at least I've retained my sense of humour, then SoupDragon tells me that gets pushed out with the afterbirth with child number 2!!!!

I'm doomed

M2T · 05/06/2003 11:37

LOL Georgina!

Another sign that you are becoming a woman of a more mature age is:

The first thing you do when you get into your house is make a cup of tea....
If you are trully still a girl then the first thing you do is listen to your ansafone and press 1471!!

GeorginaA · 05/06/2003 11:51

cry I'm getting OLD!

Bobsmum · 05/06/2003 12:00

I turned 27 last week which means I'm now officially in my "late twenties". I'm sure I was meant to have done more with my life by now. FriendsReunited can really get you down
Being a house captain/prefect blah blah was supposed to look good on my CV but 10 years on noone really cares in all honesty - ahhh the glory days.

Rhubarb · 05/06/2003 14:54

Ok M2T, does it make you feel better to be so offensive - really? Custy happens to be a very close friend of mine and as such I don't like her being insulted. She found some threads offensive, isn't she entitled to say so? If you want Mumsnet all to yourself why don't you just say so?
I have never felt so angry in all my life! Mumsnet is FOR EVERYONE and you seem to be intent on excluding those who do not agree with you. Not everyone shares your sense of humour, not everyone want to chat about banal things, and they certainly don't deserve being treated as you are treating them. I really think Custy deserves an apology but I doubt if she'll get one. I'm sorry Mumsnet has gotten like this, I've been posting for nearly 2 years now and received a lot of help, support and advice. It's made me laugh, made me cry, made me think. I was like a community and disputes were solved by people being big enough to apologise to each other and tolerate each other. I've loved having Mumsnet as a companion. Maybe it will revert back soon.

Enid · 05/06/2003 14:57

It will rhubarb, it'll all settle down I bet. And lots of people love custy and would hate to see her go.

M2T · 05/06/2003 15:00

????Rhubarb - Custy equally has insulted me BIG TIME.... or have you conveniently forgotten about that one. But that's not what this is about. I thought that was pure sh*t stirring. So like you have said, I am entitled to my opinion. If you don't like it tough.

Again take a bit of your own advice. If you don't like a thread.... don't read it and don't
post on it.

Flattered though that you seem to be following me about the board insulting me.

SamboM · 05/06/2003 15:18

OOoh good idea M2T I think I'll do that too.

Hag, witch, sh*t 4 brains...

That's for starters

M2T · 05/06/2003 15:22

LOL SamboM....

Thanks... such flattery.

aloha · 05/06/2003 15:33

M2T,I hate to make things worse, but I do think expressions such as sh*t-stirrer are pretty ugly and offensive when used against someone. I too would be upset if my opinions were dismissed like that and in such terms. I have stood up for your before when you were criticised by name so please don't lump with with these 'enemies' you talked about - but I can see why that phrase would be upsetting. Also, saying you don't like a thread is not, IMO, the same as attacking someone and their motives personally.
I shall probably regret posting this

SamboM · 05/06/2003 15:35

What about sh*t for brains? Don't I get told off for that. Come on now, what's sauce for M2T is surely sauce for me

Rhubarb · 05/06/2003 15:36

I really can't be bothered any longer. M2T it's all yours.

M2T · 05/06/2003 15:39

Granted Aloha... I had actually forgotten about that... oooops. And I apologies for that, but not for anything else.

I s'pose it was sheer disbelief that a volatile situation had arisin from a harmless joke about voting a head girl!?

M2T · 05/06/2003 15:39

What the feck have I done to you now Rhubarb??
