Sunny weather = An ugly nation?

I have seen so much pink, wobbly, flesh today I was in danger of screaming 'Sausage' in a very loud voice.

I am not a body fascist.. but why oh why oh why (!!!) must people flash their flesh when it is pale and pink and flabby?

Last summer I got so sick of being gawped at, as tho I was a page 3 gal (ha) I even tried plasters over them.. looked very odd under a vest top!!

My MIL and her neighbour always sunbath in their gardens in their bras I know its in their gardens but then I get slagged off for sitting in my jeans "oh you just may me feel hot looking at you", "Well you make me feel queasy" I should reply. Neighbour was power washing in strappy top with no bra (at least a FF) it got quite scary so I went in and read the paper.

You must be huge as I thought mine were big but T-shirt bras work.

we were in Dorset last weekend and it was unbelievable. SO many really fat people (as in when you sit down your stomach edges over your knees) everywhere, mainly eating ice cream at 10am. I'm sorry but it is like being in the US, I can't remember it being like this in this country before. I am not exactly kate moss but this was OTT

i disagree, on days like today you dont have to show flesh because its too hot. on the contrary, on days like today, i dump the short sleeved t shirts and were long sleeved, loose fitting cotton tops, and loose skirts. much more practical for the weather. and have to use much less suncream as well.

loose covering up is the way to go for keeping cool and looking good.

around here it is mostly the Indian women only who look good in their shalwar kemeeze! sadly we have a lot of larger ladies in spaghetti strap tops and tight shorts. oh and pink flesh after an hour or so. has anyone told them suntans aren't in fashion anymore?

I don't go out in the sun, makes me ill, today I am wearing a long cotton dress, and I felt cool all day.

I saw a couple of shirtless men yesterday in Canary Wharf, in the actual shopping mall. It's freezing cold there, lovely aircon (which is why I was there!) I don't care what men's chests look like, but I think there are better and worse places to show them off. Beach, fine. Park, ok. Street, not really. Indoors, never never never.

Right, so it's OK for small women to keep cool in the heat, but I have to make sure that my bulges are kept firmly under wraps, and if I want to sunbathe then I'd better do it in jeans and a long sleeved top?

Big people get just as hot in this kind of weather as small people, and while I agree to a certain extent that baggy long sleeved shirts are a good way of keeping cool, at the moment they just end up wringing wet and uncomfortable.

Wearing strappy tops and shorts might leave me flapping my bingo wings and showing a bit of cellulite, but it was 30 degrees yesterday - forgive me for not wanting to be covered from head to foot!

Already feeling hormonal and fat and horrible... thanks so much for this thread - now I know that people really do notice how bad I look.

I have less than perfect feet and usually don't buy strappy sandals. This year I have found two pairs of sandals which manage to be wide and very attractive at the same time.

And, shock horror, I'm going to wear them, enjoy them and keep my feet cool for once. I don't care what other people think.

Where did you get them from, assumedname? I'm fed up of not being able to get sandals that fit and having nasty, sweaty, hot feet all the time whilst all the other perfect people out there are wearing their sandals!

Im not bothered what anyone else wears, if they're comfortable and confident about there appearence then good for them!

WWB - got them from Brantano. Chatting to other people in the shop and they thought some of the sandals were wider than normal. Yippee!

The actual pairs I got are 'Horatio' from Caravelle - black - and 'Rattles' from Clarks which are toe-post brown sandals with faux stones along the straps.

Very comfortable, both pairs.

who cares what you look like if you are cool and comfortable... im 22 weeks pg - look like im about to drop already, and if little shorts and a vest top keep me cool, then so be it. Who has the right to comment on someone else's appearance?!
