head buried firmly in the sand<
Too scary.

misdee · 16/06/2005 13:29

i have learnt turn in the roads now! driver instructor makes me look for 'little jonny' all the time. one day i am going to run over that imaginary kid!!

Kelly1978 · 16/06/2005 13:29

Can't u put him in another day as well? It might not be a waste if you really enjoy it. I find it scary but I do enjoy it as well. I've not lived in Croydon long, and the idea of earning here was terrifying, but it's getting better.
Hi misdee, how far along are you?

Kelly1978 · 16/06/2005 13:30

lol @ little johnny/ Mine is little doris, I wonder if they all have imaginary children that run out in front of cars.

beansmum · 16/06/2005 13:30

I'd happily put him in another day if I had a spare £32! There's no way I can afford the lessons anyway, so I don't know why I'm even thinking about it

Kelly1978 · 16/06/2005 13:32

That's a shame. Perhaps when he has a free nursery place? One hour costs me £19 which isn't too bad - jsut have to scrimp on other things.

misdee · 16/06/2005 13:32

i've had lesson on and off for about 18months now. just have to learn now as dh isnt well. re-started my lessons a few weeks ago, have 37hours paid for by the family fund as my kids have lots of hospital appointments, and my dh isnt allowed to drive till october.

saffy202 · 16/06/2005 14:36

Hi
I've just started to learn again. My provisional had the wrong address on as well but I just showed it to the instructor and promised to send off for a new one - of course I still haven't got round to it yet

Have had 4 lessons just on the factory estate thou I did get on the road for a few minutes at the end of the last lesson. I think I am officially the world's worst learner. I tried a few years ago and 'thought' I was doing okayish until I got a letter through the post from my then instructor stating it might be for the best if I looked for another instructor as I wasn't coming on as quick as he would like!!!

I was quite insulted - afterall I was paying him. Anyway that dented my confidence and i resigned myself to a life on public transport but as there is a car on the drive whilst dh is at work and 2 ds's to ferry everywhere I have decided to try again!

My new instructor is lovely, very patient and happy to work at my level

loulabelle222 · 16/06/2005 15:17

i am so happy i have found this thread. I am having mu 3rd lesson on fri . i have to learn to drive i hate relyin on dp! cannot wait to drive. BTW i love it !

Kelly1978 · 16/06/2005 16:01

wow saffy that is really bad. I feel that mine tries to rush me a bit too much, but we'll see how it goes. I was quite surprised as I thought they'd be happy to take it slowly - earn more money!

Loobie · 16/06/2005 20:05

Rebooked the test, onto number 4, wish me luck for the 27th july

misdee · 20/06/2005 17:48

spent today reversing round a corner. had to stop as we were on as test route and someone doing a test needed that place to do their reverse round the corner and turn in the road. we stoppped to watch and she did well.

another lesson tomorrow. will be practising reverse parking then.

btwe does anyone need the theory and hazard discs? am selling mine, only bought them in feb.

Kelly1978 · 20/06/2005 18:16

Oooh I do, been told to book my theory. How much do u want for them?

saffy202 · 20/06/2005 19:05

Awww Misdee - guess what I've just been and bought today?!

Following on I had a great lesson yesterday. Was finally let loose on the roads and was cruising up the coast road in 5th gear doing 55mph! Felt like it was 100mph

Feel much more confident this time around and am determined to carry on until I pass.

saffy202 · 20/06/2005 19:07

Good Luck for the 27th July Loobie - will keep my fingers crossed!

misdee · 20/06/2005 19:25

misdee · 21/06/2005 16:04

today i did a turn in a orad, and reverse parking round a car. was a witness to an almost accident as well .

oh and lost it on a roundabout

Kelly1978 · 21/06/2005 16:08

Sounds like u are doing ok, misdee. I can only have one a week, find it hard to fit in lessons around dp's work. Had 4 now, and it was starting to come together on Sat. Except for when I went for the brake instead of the clutch. Gave the instructor and the learner driver behind me a right fright! God knows why I did that.

whymummy · 21/06/2005 16:10

hi everyone
i've been having lessons for over a year now i have had lots of breaks with school holidays or children not well, had long breaks due to ear problems wich make me loose my balance etc.anyway my instructor told me yesterday that i'm not making any progress hit the kerb twice after that so made it even worse,i don't know whether to carry on or not.
good luck everyone

misdee · 21/06/2005 16:13

whymummy, i think you made to change your instructor. my one is a lot better than some i've had, not a patch on my old old instructor but he was booked up all the time and my lessons are now with BSM paid for by the family fund. so am learning lots of different tips. am hoping to get my practical booked in a few weeks time for the summer holidays.

Kelly1978 · 21/06/2005 16:15

I was thinking same as misdee too. I've had no real experience with instructors, as this is my first, but I wonder if your instructor could be a bit more encouraging. I'm not surprised u hit the kerb after being told that, I'd be the same.

whymummy · 21/06/2005 16:18

hi misdee, thanks i never thought of changing but although he's a lovely man and honest as he could have said nothing and just take my money, i don't think he's teaching me a lot,he doesn't explain things properly so i think you might be right, thanks

whymummy · 21/06/2005 16:19

thanks kelly,i do think you're both right,i will ask IBM tomorrow

whymummy · 21/06/2005 16:20

irritable bowel syndrome? i meant BMS
