here we go !

OP posts:
hotcrossbunny · 18/01/2010 11:47

Gosh, where have the days gone? Hope you're both OK and have had good weekends.

We've been really busy, but busy in a nice way IYSWIM. On Saturday we went to our friends house, so dh could fix their computer and to have dinner. It was really lovely, but exhausting as they have very bouncy children(literally) The little boy is our godson and he's a little monkey, with beautiful blond curls and big saucerlike blue eyes. He's 3 and very into clambering all over you, and headbanging etc. OW OW OW!

Yesterday we went with a family from school for a long walk. B managed to ride her bike for nearly an hour and a half which is a record!(She's usually not too keen) It was a gorgeous bright sunny day, so it was good to be outside.

Now I'm supposed to be sorting out the house for the arrival of our overseas relations, but am not in the mood.

MaryAnnSingleton · 18/01/2010 14:30

ooh, when do your overseas visitors arrive hotcross ?
Nothing much happening here - am doing a bit of work though-working on a book idea and some Valentines day pictures for the folksy shop...
T has his first piano lesson on Wednesday - think he is looking forward to it !

OP posts:
hotcrossbunny · 18/01/2010 14:55

Hi MAS We still don't know when they're coming. They're still trying to sort out M's visa and she needs another couple of health checks apparently. I'm wondering if P will come on his own and the rest of the family can come when they're able. At least then P can start work.... and get the house sorted out etc.

I've referred a couple of people to your folksy site. There are so many talented people! Are you getting much business through it?

Exciting about the piano lessons! I really regret not learning to play...

MaryAnnSingleton · 18/01/2010 15:14

oh thank you hotcross -that was kind -there's some lovely stuff on there - I have bought a few things !!
I am selling quite a few pictures but they are all to friends or friends of friends so far.
Really wish I'd learned piano or stuck at my guitar lessons

OP posts:
hippipotamiHasLost77lbs · 21/01/2010 17:44

Hello you two - long time no see
MAS - your pictures on the Folksy website are so cute! Really really lovely.

Sorry I have not been on here for a while. I have been browsing MN but not really posted much.
Have had a hideous week after discovering the girl who has been bullying O for the past few years had co-erced (she is too clever to do it in her own name) her friend to set up a 'we hate O' facebook group. Quite what these children are doing on FB in teh first place is another thing. Anyroad, got deputy head involved and the children had a telling off and their parents were informed. It was all a bit hideous really for various reasons and my instinct was to put the house on the market and move as far away as possible.
It is all starting to die down now so hopefully my stomach will unknot itself soon!

Work is still good - had a first aid course today. Very scary...the thought of being first on the scene... eek!

New car is lovely - am driving everywhere with a daft grin on my face

Hope all is well with you both - will read thread and catch up properly later.

MaryAnnSingleton · 21/01/2010 18:00

Dear God -that's unbelievable what complete little shits - poor, poor O. Really hope it gets sorted and an end put to it,plus suitable punishment for them.
Hope you can relax a bit and not feel too stressed- a big comforting hug from me.
T had first piano lesson yesterday - all went well- I drove him there as it's a long walk to the other side of town - once the weather improves/it gets lighter he could walk on his own I think. I sat in the sitting room and read my book.
Thanks for nice words about my Valentine pictures

OP posts:
hippipotamiHasLost77lbs · 21/01/2010 20:04

I know, I was horrified! Apparently it happens a lot in secondary schools - any dispute between children which in the past would have been dealt with in school with insults or even fisticuffs now turns into an internet hate campaign.

Well done T for piano lessons - quite the musician you have there

hotcrossbunny · 21/01/2010 21:37

Oh no, that's truly horrible and . How is O about it? Talk about cowardly little shits who have been dragged up Poor you too, it's really horrid when anything like that happens. Sending big hugs. I agree I don't know why children are allowed on FB, they should be outside running around.

I had a period when girls at school would ring me, laugh down the phone and then ring off. It was awful, but for some reason I didn't tell my parents, so it dragged on. It's really good that you know what's happening and can support O. I'm dreading this...

Glad the car is fab! Am very jealous I have a sticky indicator ATM which is driving me mad!

MAS - the Valentine's pics etc are gorgeous. You are so clever Glad piano has started well too.

hippipotamiHasLost77lbs · 22/01/2010 08:02

Hi
O was very upset - he has had issues with this girl and a few of her friends before, but it was 'standard' playground teasing stuff. This facebook thing was behind his back (and cowardly) and a step too far.
But he has bounced back remarkably well - he is very philosophical about it, shrugs his shoulders and says 'everyone gets bullied at times'. I am a wreck though!

The phone things sounds mean hotcross - I hate children at times
I know there will be more incidences of bullying as the kids grow up, I just hope I can deal with them.

Right, better go Dc need to go to school!

MaryAnnSingleton · 22/01/2010 10:37

girls can be vile - boys seem less so -am sure they can be bad,but girls seem sneaky and manipulative..your dds I'm sure won't be like that of course.

OP posts:
hotcrossbunny · 25/01/2010 12:44

Shouldn't be here! Am frantically cleaning and making beds as BIL and family are arriving tonight At last!

Hope you're both OK and that O is coping and hasn't had any further trouble. Will catch up tomorrow and let you know how the visit went .

hotcrossbunny · 25/01/2010 12:45

Ooh just spotted these Had forgotten it is Burns Night today.

MaryAnnSingleton · 25/01/2010 13:52

hope it goes well hotcrossblackbun

OP posts:
hotcrossbunny · 26/01/2010 19:41

Thanks MAS, it was lovely My dSIL is very nice, more confident than last time we saw her, so we had more in common. B played beautifully with M, no agro at all and E(18 months) is absolutely scrummy I still struggle with my dBIL, he is very very odd, but the rest of his family seem OK! I have to say I am exhausted though Dh took them to their house today, so I'm expecting him home late tonight. I'm planning a sandwich, TV and early early bed. Bliss!

How are you both? Have you had a nice day?

MaryAnnSingleton · 27/01/2010 08:53

oh that sounds good hotcross ! in what way is dBIL odd ?
All ok here - I have an ear infection but the doc gave me some drops -it doesn't hurt, just feels really odd- funny sensations in and around the ear..

OP posts:
hotcrossbunny · 27/01/2010 11:00

Sorry to hear about your ear, but glad it doesn't hurt! Does it affect your balance etc?

I shouldn't say it really, but dBIL is definitely a bit odd! He speaks constantly, even when it's obvious no-one is particularly interested in what he's saying. He'll follow you around the house talking and talking, with no real idea of personal space. I don't think he has great social skills, doesn't seem to understand social conventions particularly, and can bore for England! He sat on his laptop or mobile, leaving his wife to sort out the children, but I guess she's used to it Dh has always bailed him out of situations, mainly money-related, even though he's the younger brother. DBIL doesn't seem to learn from his mistakes... Anyway, didn't mean to vent quite so much!

I must go and do the washing...

MaryAnnSingleton · 27/01/2010 13:59

balance is fine, it's more of a fuzzy feeling, as if there's something in there,or my hair is brushing it...
oh dear, dBIL does sound a bit odd - maybe he has mild Aspergers ?

OP posts:
hippipotamiHasLost77lbs · 28/01/2010 08:12

Hello
Hope the ear sorts itself out hotcross.
dBil does sound a bit Aspergy too me - dh has some of the traits you describe although not as extreme

Have had an awfully busy week, work is mad at the moment and I still don't know what is happening to my timetable - the headteacher has taken them all in to review our hours - I hope I get allocated some extra ones!!

Right, better go and sort the children out - they both have a cold at the moment and E has an awful cough. Not entirely sure she should go to school but I have a TA meeting at 11.30 which I can't really miss....
She does not have a temperature and I am only working until 12 so if she is not well I suppose they can ring me and I can bring her home.....

hotcrossbunny · 28/01/2010 11:16

Hello both of you!

Sorry O and E are poorly - there's a lot of it about ATM. Hope you don't have to bring E home Hippi... but at least you can if you need to... TA's hours do seem to be a moveable feast I think. Certainly my neighbour never seems to do the same hours from one term to the next, but I think that suits her. Hope it works out in your favour!

I agree, I think there are some Aspergers tendencies there in dBIL. I know he's always driven dh to distraction and nothing he does surprises him anymore! Oh well, as long as he does OK at work, he should be fine.

I'm busy stripping beds again for MIL coming tomorrow. I'm so fed up with ironing sheets!

MaryAnnSingleton · 28/01/2010 12:33

poor O and E - hope they're feeling better soon.
You iron sheets hotcross ?? I only ever iron pillow cases and my lovely cotton White Company duvet cover as it creases so much...I iron as little as possible in fact !

OP posts:
hippipotamiHasLost77lbs · 28/01/2010 12:38

Well, had the meeting without having to bring E home. She seemed quite bright on teh way to school so I think she is getting over her horrid cough.
Meeting was a bit of a non-event after all that anyway. I was hoping they would be able to provide us with our new timetables - I want to know what hours I am supposed to be doing.
My hours - and in fact those of the TAs at school are not that moveable because they tie in with the timetables of the children we work with. I suppose the only moveable hourse are ancillary support. Sadly I don't have too many of those

Right, better go and have some lunch and walk doggle.

MaryAnnSingleton · 04/02/2010 21:05

help - have neglected this thread for so long it disappeared off my active threads thingy...
hope you're both ok - fine here - took T to hospital check up and blood test, all ok. Also saw my breast care nurse to have a chat about my progress with the antidepressants etc..very helpful. Nothing much else to tell really !
xxx

OP posts:
hotcrossbunny · 05/02/2010 12:50

Me too! Had to search - thank goodness we put it in Other Subjects

Glad things are going well for you. How did T cope with the blood tests? I seem to remember he isn't too keen!

Hope you're OK too Hippi, and the O situation has sorted itself out as much as possible.

I've not been too well. Usual doing too much, with too little rest, so haven't switched on my computer for days. My house is knee deep in dog hair and dust, but I just can't get on and do it. I've slept and slept and am beginning to feel slightly more human. Very boring!

MaryAnnSingleton · 05/02/2010 19:17

T was very good, still nervous but so much calmer than previous visits - it was over in a trice.
Poor hotcross - sorry to hear that you've been poorly..take care and don't fret about the house.
Hope all is well with Hippi and dcs.
I feel bad for neglecting you both - it's been busy and I'm also tending to spend time on the Tamoxifen thread which has picked up quite a few breast cancer ladies - some of whom are having horrid times -I feel quite lightweight in comparison..
I won't forget about you two though

OP posts:
hippipotamiHasLost77lbs · 05/02/2010 20:43

Hello you two - soooo pleased you are both still here

The O situation has pretty much resolved itself. But I get the feeling he feels a bit 'removed' from it all at school. A bit more out on a limb, feeling as if he does not really fit in. Never mind, he has one or two nice pals so he is not alone, and in only 6 months or so he is off to secondary school so I am not too worried. He was always a bit of a one-off at school (due to not being into sport mainly) but he always felt he was quite well liked. Now he is a one-off but feeling not liked and it is not worse as such, just 'different'. But he is doing well, very philosophical, not really bothered i am amazed at him really - he has a very mature head on his 10 year old shoulders

Work is fine - a bit stressfull at the moment. No timetable changes as yet so I still have my three free afternoons - quite happy with that Especially as the weather will get nicer - lots of doggle walks planned
Have to start planning the targets for Boy for next term and the next year as his annual review is the week after half term. The Educational Psychologist is coming to see him that week too. Fretting a bit, I know I will be called upon to talk at the meeting and am worried (that emoticon should be called [fret]!)
Also, next week, I have been chosed as one of the 12 members of staff to be interviewed for the Investors in People award for the school - we already have the award but need to be checked every 3 years so as to be able to keep it. Have to read up on the School Development plan and my place within it ([fret]!)

Anyroad, Silent Witness is on soon, so am going to make a cuppa
Well done T on his bloodtest - very brave!
How is B? Did you ever get the result of the ballet exam? (am sure you did, I may just not have read something properly)
