here we go !

hope B is in good voice today and feeling well !
Our concert was yesterday and was soooooo long -we didn't get out until after 10 -am exhausted ! T's choir sang nicely and some of the other ensembles/bands/orchestras were good - best of all was the staff choir who were fantastic ! T very upset on coming home as I think he finds the music groups a bit isolating- he knows fewer children in them, compared to in his tutor group -he said he feels lonely there..aww. He was in tears-he is is very hard on himself (wonder where he gets that from !?) and feels that if he hasn't had a 'sociable' day then it's bad. Anyway,am sure all will be ok.
Am meeting him after school at 12.30 to pop into his old school to wish a very nice teacher there a happy retirement-then home for some lunch.

Hooray for the start of the holidays! I have J here at the moment, and the girls are happily ensconced infront of Tom and Jerry!

Glad the concert was good MAS but sorry T's feeling a bit despondent. Do you think it's end-of-term tiredness talking, or do you think there really is a problem? It's difficult. Has T made a special friend through music yet?

We're hopefully meeting one of my university friends and her girls tomorrow, but it all depends on the weather as they're travelling from Somerset. Fingers crossed for no more snow!

Bet you're happy it's the end of term Hippi! Hope you're OK>

MaryAnnSingleton · 18/12/2009 16:59

I think it's just a thing he feels from time to time -there's no special friend in the choir, though there's a boy he knows fairly well -think he just feels out on the edge-seems ok normally at school and 'chats' away on facebook - he is just quite hard on himself if he feels he hasn't been sociable.
Hooray for hols though

hippipotamiHasLost77lbs · 18/12/2009 18:43

Oh no, poor T It does not get any easier as they get older does it??

How was B's voice Hotcross? Did the strategic sickie do the trick?

Last day of term today - had a farewell presentation to say goodbye to the lovely Senco/teacher who has been with the school forever and is just fabbo! Was tinged with sadness.
Boy B was not at school yet again - there was an incident with another boy and since then Boy B is using it as an excuse to be 'too scared' to come to school. Hope he is back next term, he was doing so well!!
I am glad it is the end of term, but also feel strangely 'flat'. I really really enjoy the job and could not wish for a nicer bunch of people to be working with, whilst a holiday is very welcome I feel a bit 'bereft' of my daily purpose/social interaction. Does that make sense or am I completely certifiable??

But yes, it will be nice to kick back and relax Although, I still have the whole of Christmas to prepare for, tree to go up, decorations to do, presents to buy and wrap, friends to see and and and.... [fhelp!]

HOHOHOtcrossbunny · 23/12/2009 17:43

Hello! Am sneaking on here, but should be packing just to wish you both a VERY HAPPY CHRISTMAS AND A WONDERFUL 2010!

I've got a very sore wrist (MN induced-RSI????) so have stayed away to try to let it recover a bit. Am hoping after a few days at mums it will be as good as new and ready to come and chat soon! Hope you have a lovely few days. xxx

MaryAnnSingleton · 23/12/2009 18:15

Are you around hippi ? have a fab Christmas !! xxx

OP posts:
hippipotamiHasLost77lbs · 29/12/2009 11:33

Hello you two, I am here

We had a lovely Christmas, the children loved their presents, we had Mil and her partner here on Christmas day in the evening, we saw Fil and stepMil on boxing day and all the Bils and Sils and O and E's cousins on Sunday. Great fun!
The dc received their much wanted Wii and I must admit it is the best of fun! I have discovered I am a whizz at basketball and archery but rubbish at bowling and canooing!
Yesterday we went to the Pantomime in Woking - brilliant! The tickets were a Christmas present from Fil and stepMil so that was a lovely surprise

All in all it was wonderful! But today it is raining, the house is a mess and dh has had to go back to work. A bit of a bump back into reality.

I hope you both had a wonderful Christmas!

MaryAnnSingleton · 30/12/2009 21:15

glad to hear you had a lovely time hippi and that the Wii was such a success (with all of you !) and pantomime too !
Our Christmas was very quiet but nice - just us 3 -dh cooked duck which was fab,but he gets terribly stressed and was also feeling poorly. We were meant to be up in Notts. from today until Sat. but have cancelled as the weather conditions seemed worrying - it's probably not as bad as anticipated, but dh didn't want to risk our getting stuck there,or having to drive on icy roads...T is very disappointed as is MIL and other family members but...
Had a nice day out today in Farnham - mostly having nice lunch !

hippipotamiHasLost77lbs · 01/01/2010 12:20

Happy New Year my lovelies
Did you have a nice NYE?
Sorry you did not get to go to your family get together MAS but probably a sensible decision by dh.
We stayed home too. We allowed O and E to stay up until midnight, watched dvds and played scrabble. Then we watched the London fireworks on TV at midnight and went to bed.

Not doing a lot today. Are going to put a roast in the oven later and then head over to Wisley Gardens late afternoon for their illuminations - that is only open until 4.30 so we will get home to a nice nearly-cooked roast. Yum.

MaryAnnSingleton · 02/01/2010 08:54

Happy New Year too !
We had a nice quiet one -just stayed in,ate nice things- was in my bed just after midnight- T stayed up too.
Yesterday was really nice- my parents came to lunch and then later my best friend F came (she was spending NY with a friend who lives fairly near here) so we had tea and my ginger cake-was fun.

hippipotamiHasLost77lbs · 02/01/2010 16:13

Hello

Well, two days in to the new year and we have bought a new (well 6 months old nearly new) car - eek!
Just need to confirm the loan with the bank and then we pick it up next Sunday...

Never got round to doing the illuminations at Wisley yesterday so are doing them tonight instead. Have only just come in from car-test-driving...

Back to work on Monday - have mixed feelings. It has been lovely being home so in a way am dreading going back to work, but ont he other hand I am sort of looking forward to it too. Strange really...

Right, I have ended every paragraph with ... so am heading off

Hope you are good too hotcross

MaryAnnSingleton · 03/01/2010 19:28

how exciting about new car !!
hope tomorrow goes well, once you get back into the swing,it'll be fine - am not looking forward to being up early, nor my boys both being out...

OP posts:
hippipotamiHasLost77lbs · 03/01/2010 20:19

Hello

I am dreading going back to school tomorrow.

So is Ollie - he came down from his room in tears last week and said he is being picked on by a group of kids in his class. I think we have talked through it all and he is ok now but it is still a worry... Sigh. This is the same group he has had trouble with on and off since Year 4.

At school they have changed all the timetables around (due to one teacher leaving and them having to accomodate a new French teacher) The result is that I am now working right up until 3pm on a Monday. And am in Literacy with Boy so no chance of sneaking out early. Not a problem except I will be late (5 mins or so) to collect E. Am sure her school will hang on to her but I had a nightmare last night where she had been taken into care because I had failed to collect her [fret]
Just goes to show my subconcious is fretting [again]

What are your plans for tomorrow?

MaryAnnSingleton · 03/01/2010 21:56

oh poor O - that's horrible for him,poor lamb.
Am sure all will be fine once you aqre back - and E won't be taken into care if you are a tiny bit late - did you tell her school ?
I hope to get to my desk and at least start something tomorrow - must get out for fresh air too though,so will walk into town at lunchtime. No childminding until Thursday. My friend S is coming on Tuesday to met me for lunch -she's coming by train from London..haven't seen her since the summer. On Thursday morning I'm seeing my doctor about my medication as I will have finished the first pack (they've been ok really)- 2nd swine flu jab on Saturday ! Also chipped a bit of tooth the other day, there's now just filling left and a bit of tooth at the bottom-am due to see dentist anyway on 25th,so will hang on until then -doesn't hurt or anything- really hope he can patch it and that it isn't expensive.
Have a good day...xxx

OP posts:
hippipotamiHasLost77lbs · 04/01/2010 07:27

Morning

No, have not told E's school yet - was going to catch her teacher this morning. I think that was the reason for the nightmare - I had not yet made arrangements...
[despair over self]

Busy week for you this week! It will be nice to catch up with your friend!
Hopefully we can catch up soon with hotcross too. I have an inset day on Feb 12th (it is a Friday) and would love to meet you both at the Packhouse? May have to bring O but can decide that nearer the time. If you are both free?

Right, better go and wake the urchins.

Have a good day!!

MaryAnnSingleton · 04/01/2010 08:47

12th ? that might be ok,have to check ! have a good day !

OP posts:
HOHOHOtcrossbunny · 04/01/2010 10:31

Hello! HAPPY NEW YEAR! Hope you're both OK and that first day back has been alright so far. B slept in and we had to really shake her to wake her up, typical!

Sorry haven't been around for a bit. We unplugged the computer before we went away and dh only got round to setting it all back up again last night

Hope O is OK Hippi, and not too nervous about being back at school. Hopefully the break will have broken the picking-on-O cycle . Hope you manage to sort out the E pick up too, and don't have any other nightmares. How was Wisley?

That sounds a busy week MAS. What a pain about the tooth, but good you've already got an appointment.

We had a lovely Christmas and New Year. Can't believe it's back to school already though, could easily cope with another week off. We spent NYE with friends in Cobham, which was great. The children all played nicely and enjoyed seeing the fireworks on TV. Then NYD we met friends for a very cold walk on Frensham Common, which was a bit eventful. Poor doggle got pushed through the ice into the river by a very boisterous black lab so is now a bit hobbly with arthritis We're keeping him warm and feeding him painkillers and he's much better today, thankfully. B got a big fright though.

Today I need to try to get the house straight and go and order some new ballet clothes for B. It's so cold I don't really want to go out, so I'll have another cuppa first!

Meeting up sounds lovely, but I'm not sure I can We have an INSET day on the 12th too and I think dh has booked it off work so we get an extra day at half term... Will check with him and get back to you...

MaryAnnSingleton · 04/01/2010 15:42

poor doggle - hope he's feeling less hobbly soon
Your Christmas and NY sound jolly
Have done some drawing today -hooray ! but even better than that - T passed his singing exam with merit - just 4 marks away from a distinction...yay !!!

hippipotamiHasLost77lbs · 04/01/2010 15:51

Well done T!! Brilliant result!

The ringleader of the let's-pick-on-O campaign was not in school today so O had an okay day.

Timetable change worked fine but I did not get to E's school until 3.10 so will definately have to chat to the teacher about hanging on to her. my friend K picked E up for me today but her dd Little S starts French club next Monday so won't be able to help.

What a scare for doggle! Hopefully he picks up soon.

Right, am still frozen (heating at school takes a few days to kick in) so am off to enjoy a warm cuppa

hotcrossbunny · 04/01/2010 20:02

WOW! WOW! WOW! That's fantastic news - Well done T!

It's soooo cold. -5 at the moment outside, and pretty cold inside. Am once again dreaming of a modern, non-draughty house

MaryAnnSingleton · 04/01/2010 22:06

thank you both - T v pleased
Hope O has a good day tomorrow x

hotcrossbunny · 05/01/2010 10:49

Morning Hope you're wrapped up warm?!

I remember well the going into school after the holidays feeling - it was deathly for about three days and then the kiddies finally warmed it up (and distributed their germs) Is it an old building Hippi? IME the modern school I supplied at was permanently like an oven, with very sleepy children!

I'm taking down decorations today and cleaning bits I haven't been able to reach. Oh and ironing I think...

hippipotamiHasLost77lbs · 05/01/2010 12:23

Wore two pairs of socks to work today!! It is a late Victorian building, so thick brick walls, concrete floors, hugely tall ceilings, floor to ceiling draughty windows.... Freezing!

I don't think we will get any big snow here today - the sky is cloudy, not the steely grey which normally heralds snow

hotcrossbunny · 05/01/2010 16:11

Poor you. I bet it's a lovely and cool building in the summer though It's got much warmer here this afternoon - about 2 just now, but the sky definitely looks sort of blankety, so I'm crossing my fingers!

How was your meeting with your friend MAS? Hope you had a lovely time.
