I HAVE STARTED A LITTLE ITALY THREAD!!!!

hooray for me!!!

OP posts:
Camomilla · 15/09/2009 21:14

best friend who came over here with me, her gps lived with her, and I was always there (did same school + had terrible crush on her bro ), so she was a bit like a 3rd nonna...

oh, and meant pippi before of course

francagoestohollywood · 15/09/2009 21:14

Pippi, excellent idea!

McCloudsextoy · 15/09/2009 21:15

Something i once thought about and then did bugger all about it was to give italian lessons to kids in small groups. As long as you don't end up shouting at them,,,

francagoestohollywood · 15/09/2009 21:17

Ah I see now camo! So sorry to hear about your bf's nonna.

McCloudsextoy · 15/09/2009 21:17

Pippi's dp must think we are mad!

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 15/09/2009 21:17

Yes sorry about nonna Camo, I did not quite undrestand that before.

Very very jealous of you and W&P McC, really. Just read the AM's story about the young girl married to the older math prof, remember? The end was chilling. Love the book and I am reading it slowly on purpose because I do not want to finish it and do not want to forget it immediately as you would a page turner ifkwim.

McCloudsextoy · 15/09/2009 21:17

sorry camo!

francagoestohollywood · 15/09/2009 21:18

at the thought of mc cloud trying to traumatize a bunch of children with competitive parents who send them to italian lessons

Camomilla · 15/09/2009 21:18

no, don't think I could teach kids, maybe older kids... but DP says i have no patience (he wanted me to teach him proper italian, but it's just frustrating trying to teach passato prossimo, congiuntivo etc when he has no idea of the english equivalent!

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 15/09/2009 21:18

What small groups of kids! NO WAY!! One child or adults, no timewatsers !

francagoestohollywood · 15/09/2009 21:19

Oh god, who's AM? I'm getting lost with all these initials, and honestly feel un po' tonta

ah, alice monro eh? giusto????

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 15/09/2009 21:21

I taught a friend and she thought I was great. She speaks quite well now, not all because of me obviously.

No competitive parents here but lots of second generations children who need practice. Quite a few italian aft schools around here attached to catholic churches, which is my second plan.

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 15/09/2009 21:22

yes, sorry.

francagoestohollywood · 15/09/2009 21:23

oh yes, very good idea pippi teaching to second generations. go for it!!!!

Camomilla · 15/09/2009 21:24

wish we had italian after schools round here for ds, as his italian got so good, but i know he'll lose it again

McCloudsextoy · 15/09/2009 21:26

Damon, wow you have a plan!

No, i don't remember that short story, shame on me, i gobbled up her stories and some have started rereading, that is what i like about her, you can read the same stories many times and you discover something new, especially if you are like me and tend to forget what you have read.

Lots of competitive parents here, willing to chuck money for their dumb gifted children, but i am not good at pretending, so i would start getting pissed off.

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 15/09/2009 21:28

Yup. Lots of greek schools here for the second gen and very popular. Same with the italians. Thinking of sending DDs maybe if the week is not too busy. They start from 5 or 6 (the italian way). I wouldn't know otherwise how she would learn to write it and basic grammar. I don;t mind doing it myself but who listens to their mums?

McCloudsextoy · 15/09/2009 21:29

Off to read guys, another failed dvd night, we are throwing money at lovefilm, one of us is always tired..

dd was up 3 times last night, not sure why, maybe a bit sick, but if she repeats tonight...better go to bed just in case..

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 15/09/2009 21:30

Oh I def show when pissed off too.

LOL at 'a plan'! Let's see what I'll do about it!

But thanks for mini add, will def do it tomorrow. will let you know.

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 15/09/2009 21:31

we throw money away at lovefilm too - this month I cannot even find the movie... what if I lost it?

Sputnik · 15/09/2009 21:31

I think that's a great idea Pippi. We will be checking on you now

McCloudsextoy · 15/09/2009 21:31

i am teaching ds with a book, but now he is back at school is going to be hard to fit in with friends coming round etc, we were anyway managing 5 mins a day, but his readign was pretty spot on, e l'accento alla Stanlio e Ollio.

francagoestohollywood · 15/09/2009 21:31

good night ragazze, I should go and write.

Penthesileia · 15/09/2009 21:32

Hey all. LOL @ this thread. Esp. Italian male fashion. Could someone explain the breasola shoes to me, please?

Camomilla · 15/09/2009 21:33
