What is wrong with twit?

EccentricaBirthdayGallumbits · 21/08/2009 14:31

No to all except perhaps twit or ploker as long as either was used n a friendly manner not a nasty one.

nigglewiggle · 21/08/2009 14:31

What's wrong with saying twit? That and plonker would be ok, but none of the others.

cocolepew · 21/08/2009 14:33

No to twat, knob and prick, all depends on the age of the child of course.

TrinityRhino · 21/08/2009 14:33

just sounds a little sharp for me
not very easily used in a friendly joking manner imo

plonker is completely fine and the others, apart from twit, are absolute no nos

sherby · 21/08/2009 14:34

plonker and twit not so bad

TrinityRhino · 21/08/2009 14:34

littlenamelessunrememberedacts · 21/08/2009 14:36

Twat - NO
Twit - ok
Plonker - ok
Idiot - NO
Git - rather not but will overlook
Arse - no, but not as bad as idiot
Bugger - no, but not as bad as idiot
Bloody - no, would have a sharp word over this one
Knob - NO
Prick - NO

GossipMonger · 21/08/2009 14:37

We say 'dimwit' or 'donut' for those types of things!

We do say plonker too but thinking about it we dont say twit.

Goblinchild · 21/08/2009 14:38

Twit and Plonker used non-aggressively.
Idiot under extreme pressure from a sibling.
The rest, no.
Mine are 14 and 18.

Bloody is the only other one I've heard them use in the house, and it's not OK.

AMumInScotland · 21/08/2009 14:40

Twit and idiot are ok, if they're saying "you're being an idiot/twit" about some idiotic behaviour. The others I wouldn't want to hear from a child. But my DS is 15 now, so that's different - it's more like an adult swearing, so depends if I think it's areasonable response to the situation, same as if DH or I swore when angry about something.

AMumInScotland · 21/08/2009 14:42

I thought "plonker" meant the same as knob/dick - I'm surprised so many people aren;t bothered about it.

Oliveoil · 21/08/2009 14:43

Twat - no
Twit - who still says this? Prince Charles?
Plonker - no
Idiot - they may hear this at home [mumble]
Git - no
Arse - erm, see Idiot [ahem]
Bugger - no
Bloody - erm, see Idiot and Arse
Knob - no
Prick - no

mine are nearly 5 and 7 and say Crap sometimes and are informed it is Rubbish and not Crap

GossipMonger · 21/08/2009 14:45

I think though AMIS that I am thinking of the way DelBoy says 'You plonker Rodney' in a kind of funny way rather than 'you knob!' but didnt know it meant that!

GossipMonger · 21/08/2009 14:46

plonker means

1 A fool

or

2 A Penis

We mean it as fool rather than a penis

TheFallenMadonna · 21/08/2009 14:47

Mine are 8 and 5. They might use the words 'idiot' and 'twit' about soemone, but I would come down hard of they used it to someone. Although I do call them 'foolish children' . Still...

I would be if they used any of the others, and mortified if they knew 'knob' or 'prick'.

I do say bugger in front of them though. And bollocks. They think some words, like wine and beer, and coffee, are for adults only...

GossipMonger · 21/08/2009 14:47

ooh hello Oliveoil

how are you?

Oliveoil · 21/08/2009 14:51

I am fine and dandy thanks, rainy here atm, where is my sunshine?

(are you a namechanger? can't keep up atm as I am rarely here)

EccentricaBirthdayGallumbits · 21/08/2009 14:59

By the way. Are you all coming to my party laer? I have cake. and wine.

GossipMonger · 21/08/2009 15:02

You probably wont know me but I followed your thread about your move

I was Collision and Majeika for a while and might go back to Collision.

Oliveoil · 21/08/2009 15:10

I do know you (as collison)

I am a mouldie but don't go on the internet much at all at the moment tbh so I find popping on here easier as mouldies is a bit more intense and every knows everyone etc so you can't just bob on every month and say "ooooh ffs" or whatever (as I am apt to) as you may meander into an indepth discussion that you do not know the background to (but I do love all the mouldies and hate the fighting )

anyhoo

so I find it better to bob on here when dh it out (rare) and waffle on for an hour

then leave for a month

I actually have Real Life now

facebook, MN, hotmail and booking my 40th, that is the limit of my internet atm

and long may it last

xx

(sorry for hijack)

MrsBadger · 21/08/2009 15:14
