Coddy help! Will I lose my licence?

I have 4 pts on my licence already, got convicted of speeding doing 48 in a 30 zone (I think) about 2.8 years ago.

Going to the Cup Final last weekend, I got nabbed doing 70 in a 30 but am furious, it was coming out of the tolls on the M4, I didn't even see a 30mph zone, but how on earth are you meant to get back up to speed to get back on the M~Way if you have to do 30 for a while after the toll? They obviously had a mobile camera and decided to nab lots of unsuspecting English people for some revenue on Cup Final day.

So Cod, do you think I will lose my licence as s it was more than twice the speed limit? It's not like I was in a a built up area or anything.

yes that was my first thought, however asking someone to take a ban is a bit different to asking them to take points. Also dh is a lawyer, he would have to effectively perjure himself as the car is in his name, so not really an option though if he wasn't I would have no qualms being a naturally anti authority vampire.

not a suggestion, as if, only possible if the other person has a clean licence and is not at risk (usually it's wives)

I think it may be 6 points from what you say

SenoraPostrophe · 28/05/2005 20:22

eeek!

Don't know anything at all about it, but it does seem very unfair if it's a clean bit of road. (and usually I'm all in favour of speeding fines/cameras).

Janh · 28/05/2005 20:29

Clean road, SP? You mean no litter?

SenoraPostrophe · 28/05/2005 20:32

of course. speeding and litter don't mix.

Janh · 28/05/2005 20:33

I will get a broom fitted to the front of my car immediately.

CountessDracula · 29/05/2005 13:53

Didn't understand last msg cod##

now i have looked again I am v confused. It says

excess speed 50mph speed camera
recorded speed 70mph

Does this mean I was only doing 20mph over ie 70 in a 50, or was I doing 70 in a 20 zone ie 3.5 times the speed? I honestly don't remember seeing anything that said the mway changed from 70mph so I have no idea, can any regular welsh visitors help me?

cd was it m4?

WideWebWitch · 29/05/2005 20:15

Was it M4 between Swindon and Bath or wherever it is? Because if so the limit is 50 IIRC so you were 20mph over.

CountessDracula · 29/05/2005 20:17

It was by the M4 toll at the Severn Bridge
this would imply that it is 50mph, just a very badly worded document then?

Sorry, ignore me, just read your first post, it was Wales. How the hell did you get up to 70 so fast? Surely after the tolls is motorway so is 70? How bloody annoying if not. Sorry, chatting away to myself here!

70 on a 20 worse!

ffs I didn't see the sodding sign (too busy groping about for cash to pay)

Last time I was done was on a 3 lane road too, I thought it was 50 and was 30...
