I am so b****y angry

Had a woman chasing me from a debt collection agency last week. She was a right mouthy cow saying i had got to do this that and the other.

Anyway after a big argument it was agreed that I would pay £40 a month for the next 5 mths, and that she would call to collect the money on the last thrusday in every month (today).
She said she would be here at 9am and I said 'well i would cos there won't be anyone in, i have kids to get to school'.
So she said 'doesn't matter, i'll wait'.

So last night i'm lying awake worrying that if the tempremental cashpoint at the shop isn't working this morning I will have to go all the way to town just to get her money and then she wouldn't be pleased at being kept waiting etc.

Anyway got the money, rushes home and guess what ???

She hasn't bloody been . After all the threats and telling me I had to pay now,. and she doesn't even turn up.

Feel like telling her to stick it.

When she does finally turn up I am going to make sure that she knows that if she isn't her for a certain time on collection day that she won't get a penny.

i would do the same, and tell her that if shes says she be with you at x time then she must be there or else, let her know you have a life and things to do and you cant sit around all day wait for her and her pretty little golden ars to come to you....

is there any way you can send a cheque to the agency and not have this woman on your doorstep?

had one debt company wanting me to go down the post office to pay each week, in the end i persuaded them it was in their interests and mine if i couod pay by standing order.

Erm yep i think so.

It's a long story but the debt is with Npower and is from an address that I liced at years ago. When we moved to the flat were we lived before here I agreed that they put a crad meter in so that I wouldn't get into anymore debt and could pay a bit each week off the debt.
They suggested £2.66 a week based on our incomings. 3 times after that I had to ring them because the money wasn't being taken.
When we moved here I still owed about £150 and before we moved I rang them and said I was moving, will it be ok to continue the arrangement and they said yes fine no probs. However once we'd moved in they said they wouldn't transferr the debt to my meter because it was already a card meter and they couldn't transfer debt to that. I moaned, saying that they had said it woul be fine etc, but if they sent me a card I would continue to pay the £2.66 a week on that. They said they could send a card but the payments would have to now be £40 a month. I told them I couldn't afford that and how on earth could they justify putting them up that much. They cou'dn't explain why, just kept insisting I had to pay it. I offerred to pay £20 a month and they refused it. They said if i didn't pay they would send it to a debt collection company, and so I said fine go on.

Debt collection company rings me and tells me I have to pay £40 a mth still (oh and add £50 to the total bill). I insist I can't. They ask me our incomings but not our outgoings and then decided I can pay it. Again I refuse, so they send this woman.

Am sick of it now I just want it clearing. Am in the process of changing electric providers now as I think Npower acting terribly especially since I did offer to increase my payments.

She would only accept doorstep collection.
I wouldn't know where to send it to anyway as I haven't even signed the new payment agreement yet, was due to do that today.

Update........

The woman from the debt collection place rang me at 8:30 the next morning to sau 'sorry, she had forgotten about me'.
She asked when she could come and get the money and I said I would be out until at least 4pm. She said she would ring after 4 to arrange a time.

Guess what ???????????she didn't ring.

She has now rung this morning and said she forgot again and will com before 12.30 today.

Now what do you think would happen if it had been me that had forgotten ???????

Nutty - could you try ringing the energy watchdog - cant remember what its called but its based at Five Ways/Edgbaston. It seems an awful lot of money to have to shell out. And do you know this woman is actually from Npower?

She isn't from Npower no, she is from Moorcroft debt collections which is who the debt was passed too.

She said this morning 'can you pay over the phone'

I said NO i have already got the money out as you were going to collect it thursday remember.

make sure you read it first. In fact ask her to leave you with it and read it at your leisure before signing it. She can always come back and collect it or you can post it to her

Can you get in touch with the company, and ask to pay it direct to them. After the way shes been treating you, I wouldnt trust her at all. Explain your concerns to the company.

Right she has been.

I have a payment card with her number and the debt collection places number on.

She wanted to collect the next payment on the same date next month. I told her I can't do that as dp gets paid on the last thursday in every month not the same date each month.

She moaned because she said that would then be 5 weeks until the next payment, so i said yeah thats cos it's 5 weeks before he gets paid again.

Anyway she agreed and wrote the next payment date of the 30th june on my card.

they are trying to frighten you. send them an income and expenditure breakdown with a letter saying you can afford to pay X per month and no more. in your letter you could say that
"this is a genuine offer based on my circumstances, there is no point my agreeing to pay an amount that is greater than i can afford. I will not prioritise you above feeding my family and paying my priority debts. If this is not acceptable to you, i suggest you take me to court, where i will present this information before the judge. Furthermore, i do not appreciate your harrassment of me in respect of this debt. Owing money is not a criminal offence. Harrassment is. I am not prepared to make doorstep payments due to the intimidating attitude of your representative. I will therefore pay you X by X method. If i do not hear from you within 5 days, I will assume that this is acceptable to you and will proceed as outlined without further communication."

these companies rely on the fact that people are scared of debt and of court etc, but trust me on this, you have more on your side than they do on theirs!!! I KNOW OF WHAT I SPEAK!!!

Dont be worried about them. Be firm. They try to put the frighteners on, but they back down after a bit and become meek little mice - its just most debtors cave in before getting to this point!!!!!!

Nuttcracker these may seem like personal questions so tell me to mind my own if you wish or cat me but I might can help you.

How much is the debt for?
Is there any chance you could pay about 3/4 of it asap?
What is the debt company?
Where do you live?

My Dad is area manager for a debt company called The Lewis Group he looks after Everywhere from Yorkshire up over. Id love to be able to help you and I know that they cant treat you this way as he's been there over 10yrs.

Nutcracker, just read whole thread.

Ring the dept company and tell them what has happened. Tell them how much you will pay but tell them less than you can afford to pay. Then you have room for negotiation. Tell them you want to set op a standing order or pay by posting a cheque to her.

My Dad also worked for this company for a while but they have so much paperwork its not worth collecting more than monthly/fortnightly. She can not make arrangements to call and then not. This account will then go back to NPower and may go to court.

If you can pay a lump sum in one go ask them for a settlement figure and they will probably reduce the amount you still owe. Its not a guarantee though and you only have so long to get the money together to pay it.
