Had a woman chasing me from a debt collection agency last week. She was a right mouthy cow saying i had got to do this that and the other.

Anyway after a big argument it was agreed that I would pay £40 a month for the next 5 mths, and that she would call to collect the money on the last thrusday in every month (today).
She said she would be here at 9am and I said 'well i would cos there won't be anyone in, i have kids to get to school'.
So she said 'doesn't matter, i'll wait'.

So last night i'm lying awake worrying that if the tempremental cashpoint at the shop isn't working this morning I will have to go all the way to town just to get her money and then she wouldn't be pleased at being kept waiting etc.

Anyway got the money, rushes home and guess what ???

She hasn't bloody been . After all the threats and telling me I had to pay now,. and she doesn't even turn up.

Feel like telling her to stick it.

nutcracker, totally agree with my2pworth, that is exactly what you should do. I bet npower sold the debt to this company - if this is the case I doubt the energy watchdog will be interested. It all sounds very aggressive, unprofessional and complelely over the top and inappropriate. Please do check she's from where she says she's from before handing over any cash. Good luck.

I think it is too late to do anything about it now because I have agreed to the new payments.
When the debt first got reffered to them I told them I couldn't afford £40 a month and they said it was tough.

I was going to let it go to court because I know they would let me pay less then but costs will be added on top of the debt then and I don't want that.
Moorcroft have already added £50 to the bill.

The balance is now £168 and there is no way I can afford to pay it off any sooner. I am already struggling with rent and council tax.

Oh she did have id by the way and the number she gavce me is the same as the number on the original letter from moorcroft.
Oh and I know she is from them cos 2 of my friends have had dealings with her.

moorcroft are absolute sods and well known for behaving like this. it is not too late. write and say you agreed to a payment amount that you cannot afford due to the harrassment and intimidation of the company. you cannot continue to pay X as your priority debts must come first. If they wish to take you to court you would welcome the opportunity to lay before the judge details of the company's treatment of you.

it is not too late, you must be firm. write that you can only pay X, that you are not prepared to have this woman on your property, that you are happy to go to court but that you would seek from the court recognition of the harrassment you have suffered in respect of what is a very small debt and you are considering taking action yourself against the company due to their handling of the situation.
Moorcroft are well known bully boys. i have sorted them out before. i wish i had 10 mins in your body cos id give 'em hell! they make me sooooo mad

i think npower have behaved dreadfully, you are only in this situation because they did not stick to their end of the deal. i havent had problems with debt but have had problems with idiot electric company and i wrote to energy watchdog and they made them pay me compensation. it is only a letter so maybe if you write to them telling them the problem you can at least get your £50 back out of them? i was in totally different situation but had to wait in several times waiting for engineer and they compensated me for lost wages and also inconvenience. might be worth a try, if nothing else it might make npower buck up their ideas for next poor soul in your situation

dont they have to give you a "cooling off" period if someone gets you to sign something at your home? May be worth checking with one of the lawyers on here?
