yes! onto our second one, but only 'cos we moved, it hasn't fallen apart. dunno which one we've got though, very simple, birch. i really like it. are you going for wooden work tops?

Flum · 26/05/2005 11:59

sorry. no. I've got an ikea plant pot though. its very nice. everything else i've bought there has broken.

we went for the wood worktops, Hoxtonchick.

they have warped so badly, they go whee! at the edge, like miss houlie's hair.

on the upside, ikea's drawer action is sensational.

we have an idea kitchen - it's the abstrak one in white, with the dark brown worktop. really wanted wood but decided against it. have a dark grey rubber floor ( dalsouple) love the kitche, it works really well, it's a year old

no the white is great - its' a bit shiny tho so shows marks esp in the sun ( and is v sunny kitchen well when it's sunny out) that reminds me I have to wipe the marks off or should wipe them off

anchovies · 26/05/2005 12:18

We've got white Adel with a dark grey worksurface, looks very nice together. Kitchen was an absolute arse to fit though, no hidden backs in the units means cutting round pipes etc.

Wish we'd gone for a more expensive worksurface (got the cheapest) but other than that would defo have the same again.

anchovies · 26/05/2005 12:18

I didn't get abstrakt cos am too lazy and its very shiny, think adel might be easier cleaning wise.

bundle · 26/05/2005 12:19

we have the same one as hc from what i can remember, but no miss hoolie worktops, despite them being wooden
spent £1,000 and another grand having them fitted, well worth the money.

agree with bp re: drawer action

anchovies · 26/05/2005 12:19

Also agree about the drawers

In our old house we put in an Adel birch kitchen with a wooden work surface. The units were great and durable. No problems with quality of cupboards but have to agree about the wood surface. Needed regular care and attention. Have to say, the kitchen looked great. I was really pleased with it.

we have a pullout larder. lovely smoooooooth gliding action, but the shelves frequently collapse, showering the floor with macaroni and lentils.
have i put you off yet?

anchovies · 26/05/2005 12:42

We got a corner base unit and you need to choose handles carefully as they bang together (or chip the paint) when you open the door. The carousel thing inside is fab though.
