anyone watching it this time ? why are they such unappealing characters ? I have to say that I particularly can't be doing with that Stuart....

I've seen it twice now. I think I got in to BB more towards the end last year. I find watching Surviver on Mondays only better. I hope Eve wins.

Midge · 04/06/2001 20:10

With it being half term last week, and my husband + I wanting a quiet restful week we ended up watching quite a bit of BB (sad but true).
I hated Bubble to start with bit now I think he may still be there at the end. Stuart is not to be trusted I feel, he looks like Dirty Den from Eastenders! I am not sure who I want to leave the most - Penny or Helen.
I fear I am hooked already.

Robbie · 04/06/2001 20:38

Me too - but am at least confining myself to C$ and keeping away from E4 and 24 hr watching! Anyone else think Narinda (spelling?) is fab?

Starling · 04/06/2001 21:24

Yes, I reckon Narinder is a top girl - at least she seems to be honest about how she feels about the rest of them.
Midge and Tusky - you're right about Stuart - never trust a man with no lips!
Is it me, or are they generally more stupid than last years contestants?

I reckon you're right Starling - they are a pretty dismal lot, though Narinder is probably the best...Stuart not only has non existent lips but also has too much space between his mouth and nose-
Does anyone agree that Helen looks a bit like Courtney Love ? and Elizabeth is not at all unlike
Emma Thompson ??

OP posts:
Bee · 05/06/2001 09:00

Yes, Big Brother is very addictive here are my views on the housemates:I think that Stuart looks like a Spandau Ballet fan,Martin Kemp like.(and his lips are really hideous, am surprised he hasn't gone for implants he seems so vain!) I agree Bubble has definately improved his laddish banter and was the picture of domesticty unpacking the shopping.Penny is really irritating and very like Cindy from Eastenders with her simpering and pursed lips.It is becoming very interesting but this lot are certainly less on the ball than last years and already seem to be spending alot of time loafing around. No mud painting yet! (Having just read through my message I sound a real sad case)(but entertained..)

Pupuce · 05/06/2001 14:36

Well I would vote Helen out because I think - however irritating she might be - Penny is more the kind who will generate some storyline than Helen is.
I don't like Stuart either . I think Brian is a good laugh and so is Dean when he says something.
OK I am hooked too but I think I prefer Survivor.

Penguinsmum · 05/06/2001 15:38

well, as a blonde Welsh woman, I would like to say that Helen is not typical!
She really is completely vacant and doesn't seem to help much. Maybe it's clever editing, but I haven't seen her trying her hardest to learn the first aid - if I'd been the reason they failed the fire task, I'd be putting my all into it.

Penny seems to be one mixed-up woman - hope she can deal with the media attention sh'es going to get.

So I'll be voting Helen out, Welsh or not!

Adelaide · 05/06/2001 19:03

Stuart is soooo vile and Penny is clearly unhinged; Bubble is growing on me while Brian is as irritating as a bad case of chicken pox. Narindar's far too short but personally speaking I wouldn't mind being locked in a house with Dean. But who the hell are Paul and Elizabeth and what are they doing there, they contribute absolutely nothing.

Hooked? Not me, it's all under control, really it is!!!

Lizzer · 05/06/2001 23:46

Dammit! I said I wouldn't waste another summer.... But anyway yeah, Helen = Courtney Love and Stuart-urgh! Disagree with you though Adelaide, I think Elizabeth has some tricks up her sleeve and once a few have been voted out I think she'll show her true colours!
I can't believe how excited I was by the last series, my friend even had me tape the last one and send it to her in Italy!

Starling · 06/06/2001 08:42

I don't know about Helen looking like Courtney Love - I think she looks like a slightly pissed-off cod (have a look at her when she's not smiling).

Penguinsmum · 06/06/2001 09:19

LOL Starling - a vacant cod! That's made me laugh, only I'm at my desk in work, so maybe I'd better try and calm down!

I don't trust Stuart or Elizabeth - they seem to be watching the others all the time.

I'm also warming to Bubble, which I didn't think I would.

Emmagee · 06/06/2001 09:37

My concern is for the children that Penny teaches, she'd got SO many hangups. Still, I'll be voting for Helen as she adds nothing to the drama!

Kate71 · 06/06/2001 19:12

What & where does 'Penny' teach? How did she get leave for this?

Midge · 06/06/2001 20:12

I dont know where Penny teaches but she did say that they have told her she can return. I wonder of they are changing their minds, she is clearly unhinged!

I've warmed to Helen, I did think she was a completely hopeless case but she is at least honest about her shortcomings you get what you see (unlike some of the others) and she did try really hard on the first aid tasks.

Completely agree with the comments about Elizabeth and Stuart, we watched the E4 "Big Brothers Little Brother" tonight - they called them The Bloomsbury Two!

At the moment I'm favouring Bubble and Amma, but ask me again next week....

Me, hooked???

Marina · 07/06/2001 08:12

Penny teaches English at a thriving girls' school in East London, the Sarah Bonnell. Her pupils apparently adore her because she is so zany. The head teacher gave a short interview in the Evening Standard to the effect that if Penny did another flash on tv her teaching career would definitely be over.
Penny is apparently on leave for "personal development". What do you make of that, Kate71, Candy, Snowy and other teachers?

Binza · 07/06/2001 21:09

I too was not going to get into BB this time around but I do find myself watching it although I don't think it works this time. The majority of them seem to be there for the "fame factor". That said I think Elizabeth is definately not showing her true self yet, I'd be worried if Penny was teaching my kids, Stuart is so far up himself and the only ones I like are Brian and the black guy with the guitar - you see I told you I don't watch it that much! Survivor however is brilliant and especially tonight when pathetic Adrian got the boot. Does anyone else think that Charlotte's
marriage might be on the rocks when she returns?

Kate71 · 07/06/2001 21:20

Binza, I couldn't tell Charlotte's married. I was so glad Ade was voted out, these people seem to have something about them which is more than can be said for the BB set.

I've seen BB2 three times now. Does Penny have no self respect? How can she possibly expect to be able to gain respect from her class after this? What a nightmare woman. Bubble what sort of name is that? As for his giving up smoking, he could at least have a go without patches first. Narinder is the best in my humble oppinion.

Callie · 08/06/2001 20:48

hi I just love bb and even watch it when I can on E4 . I have to say though I really cannot stand Narinda I think she is sooo twofaced always bitchin and she is so extremely jealous of Helen. She feels so threatened by another good looking girl especially a younger prettier one. Helen seems harmless but Narinder has got it in for her.
Does anyone else think Penny is completely mad?
Anyway my best so far is Helen or Brian. I think he is great.

Binza · 08/06/2001 21:10

Kate71, did you catch tonights Survivor episode with "Lazy Ade"? If you didn't then it was mentioned about Charlotte's husband. I'd read somewhere that she was married and then I did wonder if it was some publicity stunt but apparently not! Should prove to be a very interesting final programme.

I think that Narinder should go as she has an overwhelming majority. I'm sure she will get evicted as the viewers don't seem to notice Paul being aggravating but Naz is sssooooooooo in your face and very bitchy. I think she manipulates Brian and tries to keep him for herself. Also, it is interesting that Helen didn't get nominated this week. Anyone else think that Bubble is cracking under the strain?

Robbie · 20/06/2001 12:04

Are you all crazy? Narinda is the best - she's funny, honest and fabulously perceptive (okay bitchy). Without her absolutely NOTHING would happen. Compared to Narinda the rest are non-entities.

Rhiannon · 20/06/2001 13:11

Not been watching it for long but Bubble doesn't look too healthy.

I think Elizabeth could win (reminds me of Anna from the first series).

I think Brian will become incredibly annoying and he might go soon. I think Brian feels threatened by Josh so I don't think there'll be much fudge packing action!!!!!

Haven't seen enough of Narinder to pass judgement but she's certainly found a pal in Brian.

At least this time round they've got a bit more to do. An exciting game of tennis breaks the boredom a bit!
