I don't have a problem with Tatu. They try SO hard to get people worked up. I think they have comedy value.

Bobbins · 13/05/2003 11:48

English will have to be drinking lager. Probably a famous belgian lager.

whymummy · 13/05/2003 11:51

any french here?? i always wanted to know what they thought of france being represented by a group singing in arabic?? i mean we have a lot of southamericans living in spain but we wouldn`t send a group of mariachis to represent us

pie · 13/05/2003 12:06

I always thought that the French having the entry in Arabic was some sort of back door reparation for their occupation of north africa. I quite like hearing Arabic sung, french sounds like Celine Dion.

Oh god, I'm gonna offend Celine Dion fans....

Bobsmum · 13/05/2003 12:14

Bobbins · 13/05/2003 12:19

OK...my favourite ever Eurovision winner was the Israeli tranny...Dana International. What about you lot?

Bobbins · 13/05/2003 12:22

As you can probably tell. I love the camp aspect of Eurovision.

pie · 13/05/2003 12:23

Bobbins - is there another aspect to Eurovision?

whymummy · 13/05/2003 12:26

mine has to be the spanish song many years ago i don`t know if she won but the lyrics were great it went
LA,LA,LA,LA,LA,LA,LA,LA,LA,LA,LA,LA,LA,LA,LA,LA,LA,LA

Bobsmum · 13/05/2003 12:26

any entry with a balalaika always has my vote

Bobbins · 13/05/2003 12:29

pie...you have a major point there. I always want the campest, silliest act to win

Bobbins · 13/05/2003 12:32

I wish countries wouldn't put forwards ANY really serious entries

BigBird · 13/05/2003 12:37

My fav ever was in 1993, Niamh Kavanagh for Ireland with "In your Eyes" where Britain and Ireland were down to the final vote...the show was held in Ireland and I was studying for my finals and it was soooooooo gripping!!!!

Other favs are :
Bucks Fizz 'Making your mind up' - I had the dance routine to a tee
Dana 'All kinds of Everything'
Nicole 1982 German entry 'A little peace' oooh what memories - I had the single !!!
and the classic Johnny Logan 'Whats another year' !

am i really sad

Bobsmum · 13/05/2003 12:38

Who's the poor Irish entry guy they wheel out year after year? (Not El Tel) is it Johnny Logan? Can he not be put out to pasture yet ?

Bobsmum · 13/05/2003 12:38

ah - crossed posts - thanks BigBird

whymummy · 13/05/2003 13:21

i also liked that israeli one
abo de beea bodebe, abo de beea bodebe
obviously not spelled correctly but you know wich one i mean???

Tinker · 13/05/2003 19:37

Love Eurovision - use to be a treat as a child to stay up to watch it.

Used to really like it when the jury chairman phoned in the result - sounded really far away and romantic, like listening to Radio Luxembourg in bed as a kid.

Best from the past:
Teach In (Holland)- Ding a Dong
Mouth & McNeil (Holland) - I see a Star
Milk & Honey (Israel)- Hallelulah (sp?)
Like that Spanish la la la la one as well
Vicky Leandros (Luxembourg)- Come what May
Anne-Marie David (Luxembourg)- Beautiful Dream

Hmm, I'm a bit obsessed aren't I?

"Ding, ding a dong,
Ding it loud, ding it strong
Ding for good times, not bad
Ding for happy, not sad..." etc, etc

Sorry.... very poor - going to bed now......

jodee · 13/05/2003 22:27

Congratulationnnnss, and jubilationnnnsss ... sorry, went to see Cliff the Musical last week and one of the 'Cliffs' sang his two Eurovision entries ... (I'm not a fan, I was taking my Mum as a treat, honest!)

jodee · 13/05/2003 22:35
