welcome!

OP posts:
Camomilla · 15/07/2009 10:55

better, thanks. but really not sure it is pig flu after all, as my temp never went over 38 and didn't get the cough either, which seem to be the 2 major symptoms , still, the tamiflu is working and I feel a lot better, so maybe it's still flu, but just the usual one... boh.

it's DS's b-day tomorrow! can't believe it's 5 already!! oh, and DD has finally cut her first tooth!!! just felt it earlier!!

gio71 · 15/07/2009 12:25

glad you're on the mend Camo. DS woke with a temp of 38.5 this morn and very miserable. Taken him to ped's- of course as soon as he was in the waiting room he perked up and seems fine now . He's got a bit of a red throat that's all. As soon as we walked through the door he clutched his crotch and told her very firmly "no willy" because when we go for his checks she always checks it and he HATES it.

Sputnik · 15/07/2009 13:20

ROFL at "no willy".
My DS would be in total agreement, what is it with these paediatricians? When I took DS for his 2yr check up he ended up throwing a full scale tantrum, I think the last straw was having his balls inspected!

Glad you're on the mend Camo, I'm feeling quite a lot better today too. Your DS is nearly the same age as my DD, she will be 5 next thursday.

gio71 · 15/07/2009 13:51

lol at balls inspection-it's the yanking back of the foreskin that really finished ds off last time
didnt realise you'd been ill as well sputnik, just scanned back and see. Glad you're feeling better. DS's temp back up again . DP making ominous "should you go to UK on Fri" comments... Ped said to give him Nuraflex (sp??) but cant get it down him, he spits it everywhere. So dug out the good old suppositories once more.....

gio71 · 15/07/2009 13:51

"and seen"

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 15/07/2009 13:59

oh poor ds gio. oh yes I remember sooooo soooo well the foresking thing being done to my brother at about the same age, he was screaming!

sputnik glad you're feeling better too. where's the email address btw?

uh lots of birthdays ... it's dd next week too. Ah Camo meant to say, want to come over for the party? will email you.

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 15/07/2009 14:04

camo can you email me I've lost your address.

Camomilla · 15/07/2009 14:06

glad you're better too sputnik! we'll think of your dd while we're flying to venice then! well, if DS doesn't get ill that is, as just got a call from mum of one of DS's classmates saying he won't be able to come to the party as he's got swine flu, just hope there'll be someone there including DS . oh, &$%%*£ why did it have to arrive at school when we're about to go on hols

Sputnik · 15/07/2009 14:37

Pippi, it's:

gio71 · 16/07/2009 09:59

ds still got temp , went to 39 last night, is 37.5 this morn. He doesnt seem too bad in himself but definitely isnt right. He has bursts of more energy and plays then comes and flops on sofa. Am I making a mistake to take him to UK tomorrow morn if is still like this? DP called ped, she seemed to think was fine to go and he didnt seem too bad yesterday, but his temp def gone up since then. She said to get some anti-infiammatori if has still got temp tomorrow. Keep worrying he has got dreaded pig flu and noone is spotting it...

Camomilla · 16/07/2009 10:41

Gio, has he been in contact with anyone who's got it or outbreaks where you are? they're saying over here that you need to be in "prolonged close contact" to catch it (in fact, apparently only 1/4 of members of the same family get it) - another reason why I doubt I have it, boh, so much conflicting advice really. hope he's better and good for tomorrow!

gio71 · 16/07/2009 11:07

not to my knowledge Camo, we havent been out that much apart from walks over last week or so. havent heard about outbreaks either around here- boh! I should probably just listen to the ped and go shouldnt i. At least if poor kid has a temp he will be in 18 degrees instead of 38 which they reckon Rome will hit today!

Rosa · 16/07/2009 14:30

Gio Minirosa had a high temp the day before we left. I had her checked ears /throat and wee ( fun) and got the ok. He suggested gocce as easy to carry in hand luggage ( but taste foul) and to keep her topped up until travelling. Avoid if poss doing huge temp changes e.g don't go from 38 temp to standing in Iceland kind of think.
Rememebr children shake things off far faster than us !!! If you have travel insurance then you can fall back on that if needed, I was up checking mine the day she fell ill......

Sputnik · 16/07/2009 14:46

I think you should go Gio. Dose him up if necessary. Definitely too hot here!
Who knows about pig flu here, boh? DD had something wierd last week of school, she just had high temp and nothing else, and I think that's what I've caught, although it was ages ago. So anyway maybe that is doing the rounds.

Sputnik · 16/07/2009 14:51

Hi Rosa, is it cool there? It has reached sit-in-your-underwear weather here.

Camomilla · 16/07/2009 15:14

sputnik, if ped said ok and no pig flu around, I'd go, just make sure is not too/not enough dressed during changes at ariport/plane (that's what always get us ill).

made tiramisu for DS so at least he has his favourite cake today. got another message about a girl in his class not coming on sat as she's not well... hope someone'll be there....

anyway, off to clear up before DP comes back from school...

Camomilla · 16/07/2009 15:15

I meant gio, of course!

Sputnik · 16/07/2009 15:40

It would be lovely to teleport and swap places for an afternoon every so often. I'll gladly swap a cool London for a sweaty afternoon with the sound of a very noisy ceiling fan and cicadas. I hate effing cicadas, I have a forest full of them here.

mandybagpuss · 16/07/2009 16:10

Hello, anyone here from monza by chance? I am in milano and thinking of moving, cheers. Amanda

TheMysticMasseuse · 16/07/2009 16:26

hey everyone, i am a bit sick too was ina meeting yesterday afternoon and suddenly felt like death, came home with temp of 38.4, felt really bad. i am still a bit weak today but i don't think i have piggy flu... or if i do then it's not so bad. still i have taken the day off work and am feeling massively guilty... must be my 4th sick day in 9 years...

Mandy- i was born in Monza but that's the extent of my knowledge I am afraid. I think it's very nice though.

TheMysticMasseuse · 16/07/2009 16:29

Pippi just saw the thread. oh dear, poor you...

Sputnik · 16/07/2009 17:14

Sorry can't help Mandy.
Hi MM

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 16/07/2009 19:00

mandy I think Brangelina could help you as she did exactly that.

gio71 · 16/07/2009 20:52

thanks for advice everyone. we are going! temp has gone . he went from burning up to sweating this pm and within half an hour it was gone! boh. ah well, just glad he is ok.
hope you feel better soon MM
Know nothing about Monza Mandy except what Pippi has already said re Brangelina
