Batters - have you opened it yet? Do love this thread. We bought a new wooden floor for our kitchen 3 yrs ago which is still in its wrapping in the garage - 'maturing' dh says. Since we bought the new one i've never cleaned the one actually in the kitchen, i just keep saying 'oh we'll put the new one down soon...'

Must just add that i HATE ironing too . My sister has a cleaner and works long hours away from home. I wait til sis's gone to work, creep in with my ironing then pick it up before she's back from work. She's so vague she hasn't realised and i've done it for 18 months

SoupDragon · 29/04/2003 21:02

I once found half a slice of toast under our sofa cushions.

oh close it again Batters, sounds quite hygenic to me, it'll keep another few months.

BTW found a manky sausage in DD's knicker drawer the other day. Think i must have scooped it up with the washing in my disgusting kitchen, and put it there a few weeks ago.

Meanmum · 29/04/2003 21:17

Mabs - love your ironing ploy. If she lives near me can we share the key and I'll drop mine off too. Manky sausage gave me a laugh too.

Well done Batters. I thought you should have made your dh open it rather than you but maybe it's better to have him wash them instead.

Or....... get your children to break the pc again and get you up here to do mine.

Actually better alternative is to get your children to break the pc and get you up here to drink. What difference can a clean make to my house. Not much by what I have posted here.

Happy to say no used condoms under the bed lately. Two reasons for that - we're sleeping on a mattress on the floor until our bed is delivered and we're trying for another baby so no need for contraception.

Furball · 29/04/2003 22:04

Meanmum - I once found a used condom by our bed when we were in Las Vegas, How I never puked up I'll never know. I washed my hands after -I touched it as I couldn't work out what it was, thicko. Anyway I washed my hands in 99.9 degree water and nearly took the skin off my hands trying to 'sterilise' them. Oh, the things we do Ha Ha Ha!

They're not the most pleasant things either before or after use are they.

I am a mum to a five year old angel,I am also a full time student and i work part-time in IT. People often ask me how I manage and I tell them to come and look at my abodefor the explanation.

yesterday i went for a coffe at my "oooohyoullhavetoexcusethemess" house and i realised there wasnt a single toy downstair for her 4 year old ds,she told me proudly that if he wants to play itll have to do so in his bedroom,i mean, the poor little mite all on his own upstairs,i told her that a house is for living not for showing of anyway im not doing anything today as i like to follow my country`s traditions and today is the working people day and nobody works

Tissy · 01/05/2003 09:29

Oh God , a cleaner is coming to see me this afternoon, with a view to cleaning our house regularly- I'll have to rush round and at least tidy up before she comes!!!

Tessie · 01/05/2003 11:19

On the cat poo theme - I once had a friend to stay and as her and I were setting up the futon for her, we discovered a pile of cat poo behind, together with a dead mouse! My cat (now 6 years old) deposited a dead mouse in my handbag which I only discovered when I got to work that day and was rooting around at the bottom of my bag for my pass - grim!!!

whymummy · 01/05/2003 11:31

oh tessie,i would have died!!eeeeeeeeeeeeeek

Tissy · 01/05/2003 11:52

When our cat has caught a mouse she leaves the gallbladder for us under the kitchen table! I assume it's too bitter to swallow!

Yuck!

whymummy · 01/05/2003 11:59

Tissy - THAT'S what it is !! I had no idea !
Our cat leaves it on the playroom carpet - sometimes he leaves the teeth and the tail as well - just depends how kind he's feeling towards me

Tissy · 01/05/2003 12:09

Somehow, I don't think so, she hasn't the application to make it in Medicine. It amazes me how she ever catches mice at all- she's old and fat and her favourite occupation is lying on the windowsill with her head jammed into the gap between the two halves of the radiator

whymummy · 01/05/2003 12:11

i nearly bought a cat last week, thanks youve save me some money ,youll have to excuse me now while i go and puke

Tessie · 01/05/2003 12:21

Ours doesn't bother with mice any more - think she has worked out she always has plenty of food at home! Cats are great - we have two, both from Battersea.

Hughsie · 01/05/2003 12:25

Whymummy - dont be put off cats they're lovely. We gor ours as a rescue cat and she has learnt to trust us and gives lots of love - she has unfortunately for her slipped down the pecking order since the arrival of ds1 aND 2!

The wonderful thing about them is they are so independent so you can get the best of both worlds! I think they are great animals to have around for children too as they are not intrusive. Having said all that the very rare occasion that we have been treated to a bird/mouse I have been horrified!
