Ciao, welcome!

OP posts:
francagoestohollywood · 20/05/2009 22:17

She's probably just forgot the whole accident already. Children do that, they don't carry grudges, if that's the expression. She is lovely sput!

gio71 · 21/05/2009 08:29

che caldo ragazze!! Just sent DP down to the cantina to dig out the fans and we have had part 1 of our annual summer row re danger of circulating air (him) versus overheating (me). Che palle!!!
Promised myself last year that would have air con by this year but can't justify expense at the moment. At least this year we are not in a basement flat so am hoping it won't be quite as oppressive.
Am glad for dd Sputnik that she seems to have forgotten about hammer incident-am sure you still want to pin the kid against the wall though. I still harbour a grudge against the 5 year old who bullied my little sister in infants school- perhaps I could learn something from your DD

Bucharest · 21/05/2009 08:34

Gio- dp says the following (all Vieste/Peschici area) have bungalow accomodation. He remembers Mira and Gusmai in particular being good. (tho' he was there over 10 yrs ago, so best to look at websites etc)
Mira
Julia
Gusmai
Manacore
Jalillo
Valle-Clavia.

gio71 · 21/05/2009 08:41

Bucharest thats fab! Thanks-now I have a reason to delay starting work for an hour while I look at holidays

francagoestohollywood · 21/05/2009 09:17

It's gfjofdgjkfgdjkfgjgfk hot here today. I need to bully dh into going to buy some fans or a pinguino.

Off to work, ciao!

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 21/05/2009 10:23

oh please do not complain about heat... think about poverini us in bloody England! We still have jumpers and jackets. ! If weather does not improve this summer I'll start thinking of moving back. Oh how I envy you already in summerish clothes... and maybe even slightly tanned???

Bucharest · 21/05/2009 10:59

No Damon- far far from it. at the jumpers.... Sitting in darkened room like an extra from Twilight waiting for darkness to fall before I can even contemplate setting foot outside to forage for food...... No appetite, no idea what to cook or wear and having to run constant gamut of people saying "ooooh look at you mozzarella legs, don't you go to the sea?"
Been to have passport pics done this morning (leaping across the road from shadey spot to shadey spot...lol) and that's knackered me for the rest of the day. Little photo man said "puoi tornare a pranzo" and I said "oh no, I can't come out of the house again today"
All we need now is the GreatMozzieInvasion and my cup will runneth over......
I am sooooo anglo-saxon......

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 21/05/2009 11:10

LOL Bucharest!! I must have turned a bit Anglo-Saxon too because I started hyperventilate at your description and thanking God for UK weather which has changed 5 times in the course of an hour!!! blimey I did not remember that it is so unbearable already... thought you get to this stage in august. Here it feels as if we are still in autumn. Same clothes for sure!
Don't think I could cope like that. Especially because I'd get the mozzarella comment as well even when I am tanned !!!

ups it looks like rain now... a minute ago was kinda hot... boh!

Bucharest · 21/05/2009 11:16

It is apparently unseasonal- very humid, it's definitely more end-June this week than May- the telegiornale people are all whining about "afa" (sp?) and allergie and what to do with old people....(hmmm, could give them a few ideas about the ones I know...)
Am settling for panini and speck for lunch. Can't face the oven.

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 21/05/2009 12:09

at panino con speck... even though it reminds me of alpi in winter not hot profondo sud .

Sputnik · 21/05/2009 12:30

So has Rai2 got out its stock footage of bums on beaches and tourists in fountains yet?

Took DD to the paed today and she said probably nothing to worry about with the bruise, she sent us for an ecografia, so we have to go out again later. I share your feelings on that Bucharest!

Rosa · 21/05/2009 13:15

This morning was unbearable here but now we have high cloud so actually its not that bad My Pc is on the blink again so am using the Mac and it always blows the screen up huge and I can never remember which keys to press to get it normal !!
Sputnik hope your dd is ok and the nasty boys mtìother makes pasta out of him with the said rolling pin .
MOoncup I had one pre dd and to be honest I felt like I was going to explode masisve headaches exp 1st 2 days taking it out was a great relief !!!so I actually only used it at night am not going to invest in a another as you have to get a different shape post babies....... Oh bugger now its all gone tiny ....I want my PC back !!!!!

Camomilla · 21/05/2009 16:49

at the speck and the heat, rather that than wearing jackets at the end of May!!! miserable! this is really ridiculous, the average for May is 20, but even if it got to that today, it's so bloody windy that even the sun is scared of coming out for more than 5 mins at the time! even the salad we planted hasn't come through, it should be 10cm high by now, but no sign of it

still, I'm wearing my orange platforms to hang the washing to soften them and cheer myself up - as I bought them last year but never worn them as, even if we'd ever got the right weather, didn't think 15cm heals were right for heavily pg woman

francagoestohollywood · 21/05/2009 19:02

It's been unseasonably hot in the last 3 days, think 29 degrees rather than boh, haven't got a clue about May average temp, maybe 22? Still, I wouldn't swap it with the Atlantic wind, which was the bane of my life when we were in good old england

No, I don't have a tan, but the dc do, for playing outside both when they are at school and at giardinetti after that. They have what is known as a muratore tan.

gio71 · 21/05/2009 19:09

dp out so pane e nutella for ds dinner tonight
and I am having a frozen findus salmon thing
and maybe pane e nutella for dolce
too hot to cook! It's so bloody humid
No tan here here particularly but am off to the beach on Sunday hurrah!

DelGirl · 21/05/2009 19:17

sorry to step in and out of this thread but was wondering if anyone knows of a villa/b&B/hotel near to Rome, north or south within maybe an hours drive????

Friends are coming over for the Barcelona match next week I think (they only just got tickets) and asked me for suggestions. I have suggested a couple but would like a few more if anyone has any recommendations.

Price wise, not ££££ but not cheap either. Thanks alot .

Sputnik - been laid up with a chest infection (poorly poorly me) but still heading over on the 3rd. Is there anywhere in the vicinity that sells cheeeeeaaaaaappppp strollers. Driving dwn from Pisa so maybe a carrefour may have one? Cheap as in cheap as i will leave it at my bro's - thanks. Will be good to see you all , hope you're ok xx

Sputnik · 21/05/2009 21:24

Hi Delgirl, sorry you-ve been ill.
Can-t really help you with the buggy, I have a stupidly expensive 3 wheeler which I bought under pregnancy delusion with DD, then a discounted McLaren from the UK. Maybe you could look on Italian ebay, no problem if you want to use my address for delivery.

francagoestohollywood · 21/05/2009 21:43

Hi delgirl, sorry you've been ill. Have no idea as to where to get a cheap buggy (a worrying sign that the children are getting too old )

Have a lovely time in Italy

ps: should I make the cakes for dd's party tomorrow or sat morning?

Sputnik · 21/05/2009 21:46

Tomorrow. How-s things?

francagoestohollywood · 21/05/2009 21:48

Non diventano dure?

Sputnik · 21/05/2009 21:54

Nah, when they-re cool put them in a well sealed box or something (says total non_expert on cakes). You really need Rosa.

francagoestohollywood · 21/05/2009 21:57

ROOOOOOOOOOOOOOSA!

I know Ill have to resort to the cameo ones

Sputnik · 21/05/2009 22:05

She-ll be asleep by now probably.
What is your DD getting for her birthday? I need ideas for mine!

Brangelina · 21/05/2009 22:05

Yes, you need a cake tin. Don't whatever you do wrap them in clingfilm. You just end up with a sweaty cake.

No idea re cheap buggies in Italy - I bought my cheapo McClaren off UK ebay. You get better bargains on there than you do on Italian ebay.

No idea re Rome accommodation either, acquaintances of mine are supposed to be coming out but can't find anywhere within a decent distance.

Lol Gio at your annual summer argument. Luckily for me mine has seen me survive with wet hair in an icy wind and no longer believes in the lethal power of "aria" in general. In fact, we've got the aircon on and he's even sitting in the downdraught!

He's watching a crappy western right now and the one-liners are sooo stupid. I really hate westerns! I've never understood how people can find them fascinating.
