When you got married, what was your something BORROWED?

My sister is getting married in two weeks' time and needs something borrowed. She has got all the stuff she needs for her wedding now, has the garter which would sometimes be something borrowed. I think I had a pretty handkerchief or something which someone gave me on my wedding day. We just can't think of anything for her.

Jewellery. Traditionally a bride doesn't own anything nice enough to get married in!!

A little bracelet from my mum. I've only just realised (this was nearly 5 years ago) that it was one of the first presents I bought her on my own when I was young IYSWIM. I thought she'd brought that one because it was silver and she mainly wears gold, but there are other ones she could have chosen. Aah, that's sweet, I don't know why I never thought before [dippy emoticon]

My sister had 2 pairs of the same earrings but one set was bigger than the other. I borrowed the bigger set and she wore the smaller-looked FAB

My Grandma's engagement ring, she couldn't come to the Wedding and died a few weeks later so it was really special for me to have something of hers.

Her giant rocks put mine to shame though

Just before we went in to see the registrar for our interview, my friend discovered I hadn't bothered with the whole old new borrowed blue thing. She was horrified, so slipped a tiny blue beaded bracelet of hers on to my wrist and said it was old, borrowed & blue!

Did you know that traditionally you would borrow something from a happily married woman and her luck would rub off onto you? I borrowed a necklace from a happily married friend - she had better not get divorced!
