E primavera ...Buona Pasqua Tutti .......

On the exciting side though, she may have walked her first few steps. I can't decide...

Every now and again, she hoists herself to standing without using anything to pull herself up or support herself (scene: hands on floor before her, bum in air, almighty ummmph from the waist - you get the picture). So, she did this, then staggered towards me a couple of paces. So, perhaps walking, perhaps falling over slowly??

francagoestohollywood · 05/05/2009 14:52

lemon and honey yes, will do that. (no way I'll do the garlic clove, my grandma used to do it for blood pressure and it stank)

francagoestohollywood · 05/05/2009 14:53

oh well done little penthe How sweet!

Penthesileia · 05/05/2009 14:53

Ponce.

Penthesileia · 05/05/2009 14:55

It was quite sweet. Of course, I've been trying to get her to replicate it, but she's more interested in:

a) my shoes
b) paper and fluff on the floor
c) pulling CDs from the shelves.

No, not really - I can surf, of course, but then I end up reading threads and am unable to respond!

Penthesileia · 05/05/2009 14:56

Am typing now as she climbs and crawls all over me, and keeps pulling my specs off my face! I am trying to distract her with the thrilling contents of my spongebag.

francagoestohollywood · 05/05/2009 15:00

Oh bless! That's cute. Though I still remember having to put the cd back on the shelves at least 10 times a day .

Yes I saw the latin thread. I think we had to learn that Catullus poem you mention by heart at school. Oh I loved catullus!

Penthesileia · 05/05/2009 15:01

Did you learn the rude Catullus poems?

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 05/05/2009 15:07

Penthe how can I get my dds to be as cultured/intelligent/literate/knowledged as you?

francagoestohollywood · 05/05/2009 15:09

Yes, I remember some naughty ones. But we studied Catullus in the 4th year, it was in the curricula, I think.

Have to dash now, damn!!! "later

francagoestohollywood · 05/05/2009 15:09

send her to liceo classico

Penthesileia · 05/05/2009 15:10

Awww . Tis all an act. I am a ruffian, really. Truly rubbish, I promise.

You sound like an awesome mum - you don't need to do anything differently, I should think! Besides, they'll be the recipients of two cultures, British and Italian, which'll give them a head start in this respect.

Penthesileia · 05/05/2009 15:12

Ciao ciao! (have you tried Frizz Ease by John Frieda - curlylocks swear by it, apparently?).

Pippi - seriously though - I sense you are being down on yourself. You come across as really cultured, intelligent and literate on this and other threads. Just by being you your DDs will see a great role model and be lovely.

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 05/05/2009 15:33

Penthe I should have put a there. I'm not worried really. Liceo classico not the answer as that's where I've gone and although had 9 and 91//2 in latin and greek the first few years it all went pear shaped when I discovered guns 'n roses and boys ! I can certainly quote the liric to those song to this day not a poem from Catullo!!
Seriously I think the best piece of advice I can give myself is for me and dh not to divorce - that did it for me and my brilliant academic career, I think.

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 05/05/2009 15:36

Looks like I'm going to have a me-day on sat!

francagoestohollywood · 05/05/2009 16:06

Pippi at your me time in Marylebone

As penthe said I wouldn't really worry for your dds, you are a great mum, and you are offering them all the love and experiences they need to grow into lovely children and adults.
And as for liceo classico... I had a fantastic time there, and met lots of people who shared the same interests as me. So, I'm biased

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 05/05/2009 16:53

Oh I'm surely biased too re liceo classico. I'd love them to go there - if they are so inclined. But not such thing here, no? And my point was that that alone does not make you into a penthe .

Just joking I'm happy for them to be whatever they want. I'm just [shocked] at one's level of knowledge about things studies such a long time ago...

francagoestohollywood · 05/05/2009 19:12

I agree.

Mind you, don't you remember the weirdest things from school? I still remember "sao che chelle terre per chelli fini che chi contene trent'anni li possette parte sancti benedicti" or something similar. . I also remember the all the lyrics of careless whispers.

Btw, have you heard from the schools?

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 05/05/2009 19:35

no nothing from the school. next week apparently. tomorrow I'm going to see second private prep. boh.

I've got temp and feel absolutely crap. felt tired all day but now ill. Have I got the swine flu ?

francagoestohollywood · 05/05/2009 19:41

Oh poor pippi. Make yourself a cup of tea and swallow a contac, it works brilliantly (if you also have a stuffed nose). Have to go and drag ds to bed. Dd is at my parents, si e' autoinvitata. I miss her

Rosa · 05/05/2009 20:28

Pippi just remember to add in lots of ££££ for teh uniform - I was a private school girl with uniform and I can still remember my mum going nuts when I ripped my coat as it was so stupidly expensive !
I am in a complete panic about schooling here as it is so different to what I was used to or my friends who went to the comprehensive . The schools look so bare , the classrooms ancient - plus the homework I did mine alone and asked for a small bit of help - but you could go to the teachers and ask for help if you were in difficulty and did not understand something - I recall my pausa pranzo con the maths teacher !
I know I will learn more with dds as they grow up..written Italian for one but I am so hoping that the dds will not suffer having an English mum who understands diddly squat about the Italian system and the way of teaching !..Obviously the physics homework will be on the days that Dh will be working !

OP posts:
francagoestohollywood · 05/05/2009 20:43

Rosa, we'll help you navigate the system. I know how overwhelming it can be, not only is your PFB at school, but in such a different system!

Rosa · 05/05/2009 20:46

Thx ..Did you go to the doc with your shoulder ??

OP posts:
francagoestohollywood · 05/05/2009 20:51

No, I took the advise of both my brother and a friend of mine and took drugs . Today I had a third injection of Muscoril (which relaxes the muscles) and I'm feeling way better. If I manage a decent night sleep tonight, I'll considered myself cured. I'm having a massage on friday.
Our house is invaded by ants, we even found them in the dishwasher. And we live on the 3rd floor

Rosa · 05/05/2009 20:55

Warm weather they come up the walls - sort of in the walls- get those raid trap things - honestly they work really well. I had the raid foam that you spray on the floor but it is really toxic so we used the trap thing under cupboards and behind the loo where dd couldn't find them. I am on the second floor BTW!
If your shoulder gets worse again go and see a doc and get it sorted as it keeps coming back no ?
