I feel like such an idiot - have just realised that we are using the bonjela for mouth ulcers on my teething dd, bloody dp bouthgt it but obviously didn't check the label, i cannot believe it, i am so angry with him and gave him a bollocking, and i am angry with myself for not checking either. It is apparently also for teething pain, but mainly for ulcers. Anyway she has been fine, no adverse reaction, but feel like an idiot for using the wrong product, they look so similar!
Dp thinks i am overeacting anyway, but goodness he does not even want to admit he got the wrong thing.

Otherwise we had a lovely day.

Camomilla · 03/05/2009 22:48

had a lovely day with best friend (the italian one) and her DP, who's spent basically all day on the wii, with all of us laughing at him...

Rosa, no, I mean I agree with you, no pink here! even though DS is fairly dark, he's on factor 30 (he looks like a puffo with his blue cream) and I insist on hat. DD seems lighter skin and has a tinge of ginger in her hair, so will be on 50! burn not healthy even in this household!

gio, seller was understanding as apparently their 4 yo had done s.thing similar! just thank god it didn't buy a car!

McC, the risk is thoretical, I think there wasn't an actual case recorded, it's just a preventative measure, so don't beat yourself up too much.

hope nerves and necks get better soon!

night night

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 04/05/2009 08:52

McC Dh feels sorry for your dh atm... he can imagine what b*cking he got from you !

I wouldn't worry.

sorry I have to because this is smthing I could have done!

We don't do burnt in this house either but we do a tan.

McCloudismynewnameforawhile · 04/05/2009 09:01

no, i know, there were no actual cases, but still....

i wonder what the weather will be like today....

Berlusca's wife is leaving him, about time too.

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/adult_fiction/749635-Gripping-classic-to-take-on-holiday-please-i-need-ideas#15 314815

lots of tips for books to take on holiday for everyone.

Rosa · 04/05/2009 12:48

On Canale 5 round up of the papers it gave mixed recations to Berlusca and perche ...Bet that will annoy him her is no longer mr perfetto -- He can't keep his family a posto what kind of example is that to the country ..Well we know he can't do that anyway !
Holiday reading magari .... I have 1 book that I will take to the spaggia and then vediamo piu in la then when I go to the Uk I have a library BLISS !
Now minirosa and the spiaggia. I am guessing she will eat the sand- as we have a posto spiaggia I am thinking just plonk her on a towel with a few toys - I don't know if she will be sitting up by then as she is a bit behind on all that va bene cosi or do Italian mamme do something else ?

OP posts:
DamonBradleylovesPippi · 04/05/2009 14:09

I'm not sure what italian mamme do. last year miniminipippi was just 6 months when we went and couldn't sit. she was either on the lettino (don't think she was rolling yet) or on a towel on the floor or in the pram yes.
I'm sure italian mums are more organised, less messy and more glamorous. we weren't. As long as she is happy, is not getting burnt and doesn't eat a ton of sand who cares!

TheMysticMasseuse · 04/05/2009 14:23

rosa do you have a bumbo? you could plonk her in it under the shade. remind me again how old is minirosa? last year dd2 was 3 months and i rarely took her as she hated the car and the spiaggia is a 20 minute drive, but there was a mum two ombrelloni down who took the bouncer and put the baby in it.

she will def eat the sand, but that's what it's for, eh?

Penthesileia · 04/05/2009 14:30

Hey everyone.

Sorry I've not been posting. Keep wasting my spare time on other threads...

Not very up to speed with everyone's posts, so I hope everyone is ok.

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 04/05/2009 14:31

hello. what's up? how's things with the house? dd ok?

Penthesileia · 04/05/2009 14:58

Hi Pippi.

Had a slightly scary moment last week, when DH announced that he couldn't tolerate the noise from the road, and thus couldn't see himself living long-term in the house. Errr, a bit late, I thought! Anyhow, we've established that secondary glazing will be possible, even though the house is listed, so thank goodness!!

We're now waiting to hear about a plan to finance the conversion of the barn: fingers crossed, it will be the solution to all our problems!

DD is fine. Cruising and trying to find new and dangerous ways to bump her head.

How are you and your LOs? Hope you are having a good bank holiday. Shame the sun isn't shining.

Has anyone read "The Kindly Ones" (Les bienvaillantes [sp?]) by Jonathan Littel? I bought it last week, but haven't begun it yet.

Rosa · 04/05/2009 15:52

Bumbos here are Eu 50 so we are hanging in there but I am thinking that they might be a goodinvestment as she loves being upright !
She will be 7.5 mths when we are at the beach and I will be having half the time alone with both of them so am a bit OMG at the thought - We are taking dd1 buggy as I don't fancy dragging the bee through the sand and it goes almost flat - the apartment is on the beach so am hoping to do morning beach til 11 ish back to flat for lunch / nap then back out again 4 ish .
at your dh Penthe seeing as you have just bought the place ...Nice to see you back again.

Ciao bella(s)

francagoestohollywood · 04/05/2009 16:31

Hi everybody,
we had a very busy and sunny weekend, friends came to stay with us in the countryside, shame that the bloody torcicollo made me feel miserable the whole time. But yesterday I was so fed up that I had an injection of voltaren and muscoril and now I feel more human again (still very sore, but at least I managed to get a decent night sleep).

Vests: of course we wear them until it's warm.
Sunhats: no
Suncream: yes, factor 30. The dc are quite dark.

Penthe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

francagoestohollywood · 04/05/2009 16:32

mars, have you booked the holidays?

McCloudismynewnameforawhile · 04/05/2009 20:35

Franca, wonder what your torcicollo is about! did you check on the health threads?

Les bienveillants is on my list to read, not very cheery, you seem to be reading lots Penthe, I am wading my way through some short stories by Chechov, he writes wonderfully well, but very bleak.

Penthe, tell your dh, you are moving again over your dead body!

Will have the same routine at the beach rosa, as long as the kids have a nap I will be happy.

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 04/05/2009 20:50

Rosa I have a bumbo, want me to send it to you? I really do not mind as it will be sitting in the garage for ever hopefully till the next one and I got it secong hand too. I have used it a lot with dd1 who was so good as to stay where and how she was told. I remember cooking with her sitting on the bumbo next to me on the kitchen worktop . No way I could do that with dd2. Infact I've ahrdly used it with her as she's throw herself out. So before you buy and possibly waste some money try mine. I can ask tomorrow how much it is to send. Or can give to friend in devon who can then give it to you.

penthe [shock[ at dh. having said that we felt our house was a bit noisy (previously not by any road) at first but secondary glazing helps a lot and after a while you get used to it too.

franca this torcicollo is a PITN literally!! what's the next plan of action?

McC how can you read so much? I've finished zeno but still only 10 pages of P&P. what a shame! Fingers xed for me and school saga tomorrow.

McCloudismynewnameforawhile · 04/05/2009 21:00

Only 10 pages of pp? Are you enjoying it? I am managing to read quite a bit at night ,but i think penthe is the one who read loads, it would take me a year to get through The Kindly ones. Wasn't reading before another holocaust novel?

What the hell is a bumbo? I cannot imagine your dd2 being strapped for long anywhere. Mine spent 1 hour lying on her mat downstairs whilst i was tyding up upstairs. It will be interesting to see how my dd and your dd2 develop a friendship, as they are already so different.

Let me know hwo you get on with the schools..

francagoestohollywood · 04/05/2009 21:09

A bumbo? Yes, what the hell is a bumbo? Is i that seat that looks like a potty?
The torcicollo, I think (and my physio thinks) I have at least 2 vertebre schiacciate, I think it was the fall I took from the stairs of our first house in exeter. The injection of voltaren and muscoril seems to be working, fingers crossed. But I now have a cold

OK, I want a list of Holocaust based novels, as I'm determined to read them all, have just read Aharon Appelfeld (not sure of the spelling) "paesaggio con bambina"
I'm now reading a Maigret novel, because there are times when all you need is a good maigret.

Mc cloud and pippi I got your card !

Good luck for tomorrow pippi, keep us posted.

McCloudismynewnameforawhile · 04/05/2009 21:23

oh, i have just checked, you are right franca, it's potty lookalike, very cheery looking!

would you need an op for your squashed vertebrae? i now have an image of you throwing yourself down the stairs because of the rainy and cold Devon weather.

off to bed, not sure i will read much as i am knackered even though had a 2 hour nap today whilst dd slept. heavenly.

McCloudismynewnameforawhile · 04/05/2009 21:25

www.amazon.com/Bienveillantes-French-Jonathan-Littell/dp/207078097X
Worth reading in Italian though, as I think it was originally written in French.

McCloudismynewnameforawhile · 04/05/2009 21:26

are you having another one then damon? have you decided then? still in 2 minds?

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 04/05/2009 21:35

bumbo!

McC you are welcome to it too actually. Please do help me to get rid of some things. I can always ask for them back in case... No I am not thinking of another one, quite the contrary. but I do not want to say 'never again' because sometimes things just happen by mistake...don't they? When can we meet then? How's the bonjela incident going? Is dp still alive?

oh yes all the holocaust's novels. Brave girl. Please do suggest some. Mu study is going to be done tomorrow - maybe willl read more [pippi dreams on...].
