E primavera ...Buona Pasqua Tutti .......

Camomilla · 30/04/2009 21:57

I know, that's what scared me the most, it could have been a car DP had been looking at! I mean, I'm trying to sell everything I can as I've only got 1 month left of stat mat pay, and then 3 months of no income at all til I go back to work in Sept, and he goes and buy s.thing not only I'm trying to sell because I've never used it, but also I bought it for half if not a third of what he bought it for!

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 30/04/2009 22:19

See that was my point a while ago with Zeno... sometimes school just ruins it for you. I will not be able to read the promessi sposi without that feeling and going back in the classroom. Shame about Jane Eyre 'cause it is a fantastic book. One of my favourite too.

dd2 not 100%.

just back from gym - hurting.

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 30/04/2009 22:20

Camo LOL! sorry. Clever DS though.

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 30/04/2009 22:21

PS: First time I read it I thought you had said DP so I was ROFL at 'I've got to put him to bed'.

ciao.

Camomilla · 30/04/2009 22:51

feel like putting him to bed too sometimes

yes, same here about zeno and promessi sposi, and the sudden grey heaviness I felt every time la divina commedia was mentioned - again, all this not helped by the teacher.... I'm sure there was stuff I didn't like in English literature, but I had a fab English teacher and although strict, she put life into everything, but I had a big problem with the italian teacher so...

right, better make myself some camomilla...

buona notte

PS - hope poor DD2 is better in the morning.

Rosa · 01/05/2009 10:16

Buona festa tutti ..... The rain has gone hurrah but its busy busy here. how did you get on with e bay Camo ???
I did far from teh Madding Crowd at O level- when I actually re read the book about 10 years later I enjoyed it !! I like most of teh classics but I must be able to read them not pick up and drop down !
Dh has just called to say we have cugina a pranzo - hope she likes pasta al pommo as thats it today - dh is out to dinner so have not done anything particular !

OP posts:
francagoestohollywood · 01/05/2009 10:50

Lol at Camo's ds!
Pippi how's dd? I hope she's feeling better today.

I had a very busy day yesterday (and the sun was shining at last!) and my so called torcicollo has come back with a vingeance . I spent an awful night, waking up at silly o'clock and any position I took was just hurting. Do you think I should see my gp, ask for a referral for x rays? I don't know what to do, it's silly to be in such pain for such a long time.

I love Jane Eyre, but then I didn't have to read it for school!

Mccloud, Rosetta Loy was born around 1930 so younger than Pavese and not from the Torinese circuit. She hasn't written much, but this is the story of her childhood, you know, upper class pre war childhood, a fav topic of mine

Brange, the Berlusconi saga is and good fun. The only thing that really puzzles me is why she hasn't divorced him yet. I mean it is a bit ridicolous that she stays married to him, but apparently her children don't have any position of power in mediaset and that is the main reason. So I don't sympathise with her that much...

Camomilla · 01/05/2009 13:56

Phew, seller very understanding, their 4yo did the same once, so all sorted!

not sure what the berlusca saga is, what's going on?

oh, joy, we've got a letter they'll be moving gas pipes all down the road, moving meters outside, god knows where, and probably will have to dig the front garden which after 6 years has finally grown more grass than weeds, first time it looks like a garden... they've been digging and redigging a tiny bit of road just off ours since we've been here, so I guess it'll take more than the 36 weeks they've said!

how's minipippi2?

oh, is la festa della mamma next Sunday? I always forget

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 01/05/2009 16:04

oh yes please let me know when festa della mamma is.

minipippi's absolutely fine thanks. God knows what the matter was.

franca bugger about the tocicollo. Go and see if something can be done. I've never heard of one lasting for so long and being so painful tbh.

camo great about ebay thing.

lovely day here.

McCloudismynewnameforawhile · 01/05/2009 20:19

yes, franca go to the gp and insist for xrays. i didnt' realise you had this for a long time...

rosa, does dh invite all'improvviso his relatives for pranzo? would kill dp, i need notice..

camo: i also thought you meant dp had done ebay and you were putting him to bed. i thought" good on camo, if that's how she manages her relationship with her partner why not!"

can you tell me what the berlusca saga is please? wasnt ' b's wife having a fling with that goodlooking politician with a beard whose name escapes me?

McCloudismynewnameforawhile · 01/05/2009 20:52

for all you stepfords: can you tell me how to get some white pillowcases whiter than white..they have gone a bit grey....god my life is boring or what...

McCloudismynewnameforawhile · 01/05/2009 21:19

ok, white vinegar seems to be the answer, not sure if i am supposed to put it in with the detergent or in the machine....boh!

Camomilla · 01/05/2009 22:21

McC, I tell you, sometimes I'd like to tell him to go sit on the naughty step , but as thin as he is, I still wouldn't be able to carry him!

just add it in the conditioner drawer (you learn all sorts of things when using washable nappies - I mean DD is using them of course!), and it's also good for your washing machine. soda crystals are good too, and both very cheap! in fact I felt so stepfordy the other day, as I managed to eliminate all the limescale off the sink and draining board with soda and white vinegar paste

right, now I've bored you all and I shall retire to the sofa

buona notte e sogni d'oro

Rosa · 02/05/2009 08:39

Franca - Yes go back to the doc as this has been dragging on and see if you can get some answers and more important a cure !
Ok guys this is not a rant just a 6 weeks ago MIl tells us that today is messa x papa ( in memory of) . So we dutifully remember. This week MIl goes to store and orders a new oven / cooker - hers is old but not broken. Shop calls Thurs and says they want to deliver today if not then it will be the end of next week possibly the week after. So she is at home waiting for the cooker ...... I honestly just don't get it I mean there are so many other options have the messa sta sera , domani , lunedi , or even WAIT FOR THE COOKER !!!
Stepford wives - how to get silicone off the side of the bath as DH put it on without bleaching underneath and it is full of mould !

buongiorno everyone, i hope the londoners are enjoying the fabulous sunny day and everyone else has good weather too.

dh still laid low with the flu, although this morning he has managed to leave the bed and get dressed for the first time in 3 days. so progress.

i took the dds to the park this morning, dd2 fell face first in the sandpit just as i had applied sunscreen- poor thing she was caked in sand it went everywhere, eyes nose mouth ears... nappy... you get the picture. didn't put her off though, she loves it, was crawling in the sand and squealing in happiness for one hour. my mother would have died if she saw her!

was just wondering where you all stand on the canottiera debate... dd1 wears a thin strappy canottiera unless it's high summer, but it seems english kids are fine with only one layer even in winter, what do you all do?

currently baking a chocolate cake to exercise for dd2's birthday in 2 weeks (ereeeekkkk), but i think it's too rich, any suggestion for a more baby friendly cake?

Rosa · 02/05/2009 14:09

dd wears a thin strapped vest and she will do until it is properly hot .. Then its just a t shirt. In the Uk she will probably wear a vest most of the time. Mind you at 3 she now says when she is hot which makes life much easier !
Winter dd1 was in a long sleeved vest for outside ( plus clothes!!) but a short sleeved vest or t shirt for nursery as its boiling there and she strips off.
Re Cake - I just do a vic sponge and then add chocolate / cocoa powder for the little ones and then yes stick to the rich choc cake for the adults !!!
Minirsoa is whinging on her gym - she shuld be asleep but no she doesn't want to who said that solids make babies sleep more - or I am not giving her enough of them ?

OP posts:
Camomilla · 02/05/2009 14:27

same as Rosa, vest most of the times in UK til it's really hot (wich means that basically we've been wearing vests 2 years non-stop) but he tells me if he's hot/cold now, long sleeve (un po' felpata) under school t-shirt in winter (when I also make DS wear tights underneath his school trousers as they're so thin those teflon things, otherwise he's like mummy, it's too cold, I don't like the cold, let's go to nonna al mare - he hasn't been there in winter since he was 2 so he can't remember it gets cold there too ). btw, still wearing mine, but I'm always cold unless it's 30 degrees

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 02/05/2009 15:50

The dds only wear canottiera very rarely. usually in spring when is too hot for 'golf' but too cold with just one layer. never ever in winter or summer or days like now. But we are very british in that regard. always underdressed. not to the point of bare legs and sandals in winter though I haste to add.

yea lovely weather, miniminipippi a moany.

have got basic chock recipe cake. will email when moany goes for a nap.

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 02/05/2009 15:52

always btw my mum would die when she sees the dds with pancia scoperta. MIL dies when she sees them without hat in this weather.

Rosa · 02/05/2009 20:14

As I plonked minirosas hat on today ( she looked sooo cute it is a simple pink cotton one from Iana but she is so chubby the strings don't tie up !!!!) SIL said babies need sun to help the bones grow - Vit D is very important - I just mumbled oh yes you are so right and lets all have some skin cancer as well why not !
Mothers day I think its the 9th but will check ...( Oh another festa for dh to forget !

OP posts:
TheMysticMasseuse · 02/05/2009 20:20

dd2 categorically refuses to keep her hat on, except when she's too busy eating playing in the sand...

rosa you know my old hv told me they've seen increases in the number of cases of rickets in the uk because people take the no sun advice too literally. basically it's good to get them out when it's sunny, though of course with suntan and hat.. my family think i am nuts because i don't let the kids "get a tan"...

McCloudismynewnameforawhile · 02/05/2009 22:36

no canottiera here either merely because i am lazy and ds does not get ill. not surprised about increase in rickets, saw some babies today covered from head to toe even though it was so warm...had dd in shorts and little vest, a queen of chubbiness, but she does have a cough so maybe i need to take better care. boh!

Camomilla · 02/05/2009 22:46

lol, italians paranoid of colpi d'aria and brits scared of the sun...

dd takes her hat off as soon as I take my hand away, I try but can't keep up with her and give in... she was all chubbiness too today with my sister's old towelling dress. she's received so many pretty summery clothes, hopefully she'll start wearing them soon.

Rosa · 03/05/2009 08:13

I agree re the sun but SIl is quite happy for her children to get a bit pink or even slightly sunburnt as its ' healthy '. Minirosa is fair skinned , possible red head and very blue eyes so will be going carefully. DD1 has very delicate skin so we have increased her exposure very gradually- from a sun suit all over to a half then to a cossy or pants out of peak sun hours - with cream. She asks for her sun glasses and her hat as she can see better when digging ...her words !
I am a bit unsure on mini rosas sun wardrobe ...DD1 had lots of lovely stuff those sooo cute baby romper things - can't remember the name like all in ones with no legs and hats to match but we will see if they fit her as time goes by .
DIscovered a YUMMY jam for all those marmalade fans in Italy its Zuegg Arancia Rossa e Wild berries it is slightly amaro and yum !

and re ebay Camo! Have you had any luck backing out of transaction? If you get a git of a seller and they give you black marks then go to ebay, I did when I had horrible seller who refused to acknowledge that was having paypal issues so couldnt pay (even tho emailed him immediately to explain) and ebay removed the black mark against me.
How is dd2 Pippi? Hows the neck Franca? Def go to GP, you shouldnt have to be in that much pain for so long. My trapped nerve is slightly better but still there, will give it a week and if not may try doc.
Sputnik have you seen they have the "Vieni in Provincia" festival in Villa Borghese this weekend? We went last year and it was fab, spent a fortune on Sardinian cheeses and various crafts that are now stuck in a drawer, will no doubt do the same today!
Everytime something doesnt go his way ds shouts "bugger" . What to do?????
