Camomilla · 29/04/2009 21:05

aaaaahhhhh, whuthering hights, I read it 4 times... did I tell you I did a tesina x maturita' comparing the 3 sisters and 3 of their book? I'm in awe of their genius really, from such young age ...

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 29/04/2009 22:08

I will go and look at them but what is worse is the fact that they are far and not local at all. Will look into it though. Have to inspect all avenues. notte.

sputnik I'm very cross with Sir Alan for not firing that t**t Ben .

McCloudismynewnameforawhile · 29/04/2009 22:10

oh camo i have lovely memories of the sisters, as you call them.....

can i ask you are we meant to be worried about this pig flu? i thought no, but just seen a bbc guy with a mask on his face interviewing somebody in mexico, i just hope the media are not going to become all american creating panick, etc.

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 30/04/2009 09:42

Have you seen on the news that the one infected with it was treated in the hospital near us?
I refuse to panic but the media do make it worse. especially when they interview those private drs that they give away tamiflu for 100quid. He said smthing like 'those that come to me will be standing when everybody around them will drop' WTF!?

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 30/04/2009 09:43

ps i've started pride and prejudice.

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 30/04/2009 09:48

dd1 and I are watching 'l'odissea' ... how cultured!

Sputnik · 30/04/2009 11:09

I think this media frenzy over swine flu is pretty OTT really. I bet that doctor is raking it in now.

Camomilla · 30/04/2009 11:19

they're just loving it, after months of credit crunch, they've got s.thing new to talk about...

francagoestohollywood · 30/04/2009 12:58

Yes, it sounds a bit OTT. I hope I'm not wrong!

I bought the new book by Rosetta Loy, an account of her childhood and youth, so fascinating!

McCloudismynewnameforawhile · 30/04/2009 13:09

where is she from? is she of pavese's generation? kind of heard of her...

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 30/04/2009 13:10

dd2 has been vomiting since she's woken up from her morning nap. bless. she's exhausted now and went back to sleep. she's so white and weak. never seen her like that since the day she was born. maybe she'll pick up when she wakes up.

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 30/04/2009 13:11

haven't heard I'm afraid...

McCloudismynewnameforawhile · 30/04/2009 13:22

poverina - at least she will not want to walk lots of fluids i guess, if i remember right they do recover quickly from these vomiting bugs..

Brangelina · 30/04/2009 14:16

Agree with Sputnik, I think the reaction over swine flu is OTT. We were all supposed to die of bird flu a couple of years ago and that never turned into the pandemic it was predicted to be. And birds fly, pigs don't (except for Scotland yard's flying squad perhaps).

Wuthering heights is brilliant, so sad. I think the only Bronte sister epic I didn't like was Jane Eyre, but probably because we had to study it at O level and we had a weirdy English teacher. Enough to put anyone off a book for life.

What does everyone think of the Casa Berlusconi saga? I'm a bit suspicious that it might be a media stunt, or else she's desperate to divorce him and wants as much money as possible (by threatening to sling as much mud as possible). She is right though, and che figura di m in Europe if the veline win. It seems that old Silvio believes he's still working in Mediaset.

Brangelina · 30/04/2009 14:17

Povera DD2 Pippi. I hope she's feeling a bit better now.

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 30/04/2009 16:40

I LOVE Jane Eyre!

Camomilla · 30/04/2009 18:46

as I said, I've got a soft spot for the Brontes...

Pippi, just remembered I had to e-mail you my address, just done it (sent it to McC too as it's a different e-mail), think I'll have to start writing myself little messages to remember things... I've always had a great memory, but with the 2nd pg my brains have really gone to mush!

Camomilla · 30/04/2009 18:47

a wuthering hights musical?!? somehow I can't really see how you could turn that into a all singing and dancing thing

Camomilla · 30/04/2009 18:54

aaaaaaahhhhhhhh, a bollywood take on whuthering heights...

Sputnik · 30/04/2009 19:09

Re Wuthering Heights to music, Kate Bush did it already!

Brange I did Jane Eyre at o'level too, I think we must have been in the same year group! Did you do Macbeth too? Anyway, 2 years of studying Jane Eyre put me off it for life really. I should read WH though, I quite like C19th literature.

Hope miniDamon is on the mend.

TheMysticMasseuse · 30/04/2009 19:44

Jane Eyre is my favourite book of all time!!! can't read more, as DH is in bed with manflu, much worse than swineflu of course, and the dds are not cooperating with bedtime....

Sputnik · 30/04/2009 20:39

Well maybe I should re read it, but at 16 I was just "well, like just fuck each other and get over it"

Camomilla · 30/04/2009 20:51

I'm , I mean I really look like this! DP was looking at cars on e-bay, then went to the bathroom while I was feeding DD and DS decided to look for Lightening McQueen toys. I told him not to touch anything as he kept on clicking on everthing, and did he listen, of course not, then I realised he'd bought a fing cot bumper I was watching as I have the same one to sell!* so been looking if I can cancel the bid etc, I am hoping the seller will be understanding... can you imagine if it'd been something more expensive!?!?! right, rant over, better put him to bed (cos obviously now all the bedtime routine is fd up!!) aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand relax.

Brangelina · 30/04/2009 21:00

Lol, DD did the same once but luckily we were outbid. It was something really crap too. There was a story in the paper once about some kid bidding and winning a car. The seller was understanding fortunately.

Sputnik - my Shakespeare was As You Like It and I even had to play Rosalind, much to my distaste at the time. Both that and Jane Eyre were lost on me at 14, plus the weirdy teacher made it really dire, so any interest I might have had was killed on the spot. I should perhaps try it again but I can't quite shrug of the dreadful memories. Maybe when I'm 64.

Sputnik · 30/04/2009 21:25

At least he didn't buy a car Camo
