Rosa, get your DH to look at mutuionline.it
We are getting a Barclays mortgage in the end, it was quite a good deal, if you like I can send you the email of the agent.

It was me with the trapped nerve in the shoulder, had it for about a month, though it-s slowly going away. Franca had torcicollo *how-s it going btw?

Rosa I feel your pain I have had really limited sucess losing weight since having DS no matter what I do, I think partly it-s because I-m still bf. It seems some people lose weight bf and others can-t shift it! I-ve restarted the exercise and diet and have lost 1kg, but have a very long way to go.

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 28/04/2009 21:23

I started shifting it after I've stopped as well.

francagoestohollywood · 28/04/2009 21:25

Sput it started to get better only 2 days ago, worst times were when lying in bed. Seeing the physio again tomorrow.

Yes, never lost an ounce while breastfeeding. Can you run? I can email you the running program i also sent to Mccloud. It is very effective apparently. A dear friend of mine started last yr and now he is doing maratone (which really infuriates his wife )

Sputnik · 28/04/2009 21:39

Jogging does not appeal to me at all really. I run up the steps in front of my house though, alternating with other stuff or I would be completely knackered.

I might change my mind on the running when I get to Rome as there-s a big park accross the road and BIL and SIL run there. It might be more fun in company.

Sputnik · 28/04/2009 21:40

I am planning to stop bf in the next few months but DS probably won-t be happy!

francagoestohollywood · 28/04/2009 22:18

No, jogging doesn't appeal to me either, and I don't think it is recommended to people who suffer from backaches, but it works!
But jogging in a nice park in Rome sounds much better than running in a small not so very nice milanese one

Camomilla · 28/04/2009 22:28

went for a bath but felt even worse, temp's gone up. then DD wouldn't bf for some reason, so now, of all nights, I'll have to express... paracetamol keeking in so better do it... just not the right time to get ill, got heaps to do round the house as we've spent all last week on the garden, and got friends coming over on sunday, then FIL the week after and the place is a mess... need storage! or a magic wand!

francagoestohollywood · 28/04/2009 22:38

oh no camo

gio71 · 29/04/2009 07:21

poor you camomilla, hope you feel a bit better this morn. Sputnik what did you do re trapped nerve in the end? Any advice? I have had it in the past in my neck but it lasted a few days and then seemed to sort itself out. This time I started with it in Feb when in Uk, it seemede to improve although not go away and now it's back with a vengeance!
DP loves Bud Spencer and Terence Hill as well!
Rosa the only reason it'll show you as not losing weight is because muscle weighs more than fat I bet!
I need to do something! I was getting into my exercise dvd but shoulder put stop to that. And with the weather feeling like winter it makes me want to eat like winter. Thank goodness the beach we go to in Santa Marinella has a variety of shapes and sizes on it, where we used to go in Ostia made me want to drown myself.

Brangelina · 29/04/2009 11:14

Oh dear Camomilla, there's never a right time to get sick, but it's always worse when you have a baby to look after. Take care of yourself, eat lots of pastina in brodo and sleep as much as you can.

I don't think there is a cure for trapped nerves - mine never seemed to disappear even with trips to osteopata. They just used to go away on their own when they got bored of making me suffer.

Lovely sunny day here at last! I was beginning to grown mushrooms from all my orifices (thank goodness I have a bidet, hey?).

Brangelina · 29/04/2009 11:15

Did you see that Emanuele Filiberto si candida for the european elections? I'm not sure if that's better or worse than Berlusconi's showgirls. Still, he was good on Ballando con le Stelle.....

Sputnik · 29/04/2009 11:42

Hope you-re feeling better today Camo.
Re trapped nerve I am ignoring it and hoping it-ll go away mostly. It-s kind of in my shoulder blade near the spine. It is better than it was, I was having to take painkillers all the time. I have actually found exercise helps, I have a DVD with aerobic type stuff, waving arms around etc, I did it a bit tentatively but the next day it actually felt better. Stretching type stuff good too.

Did you read my post about Santa Marinella? We always go there in the summer and were thinking of moving there at one time. We always go to the castle end of the beach in Santa Severa, there-s a really nice restaurant called Isola del Pescatore, if you-re feeling flush. Agree that you see all kinds there, I think I will avoid Ostia now after what you just said!

francagoestohollywood · 29/04/2009 11:58

What is exactly a trapped nerve? What's in Italian?
The sun that welcomed us this morning has gone. It's cloudy again and bloody freezing, given that's the end of April

Have another busy afternoon ahead, trying to slot in all the children's impegni. Bah!

Sputnik · 29/04/2009 12:06

Good question Franca, don-t know! Could be sciatica but I think that-s just lower back. You can tell it-s a trapped nerve because the pain raidiates to other parts of your body, ie with this shoulder it was hurting right down my arm on that side and even fingers at one point.

francagoestohollywood · 29/04/2009 12:09

Sounds nasty Sputnik. I'm convinced that massages are the best way to treat all sorts of backaches, the only problem is that they are expensive. My mother on the other hand swears on ginnastica correttiva/posturale.

Sputnik · 29/04/2009 12:15

If there was somewhere decent around here to get a massage I-d do it, I am even insured! This will be one avantage of moving to Rome.

francagoestohollywood · 29/04/2009 12:21

Oh yes. This physio I'm seeing is fantastic, but I also had great benefits from shiatsu (that was 8 yrs ago)

gio71 · 29/04/2009 12:34

may dig out the exercise dvd again then sputnik. missed that post of yours, will have to try that restaurant. Re Ostia to an extent it depends on which beach you go to, I think the Cancelli re the worst, full of long limbed, tanned 16 years olds in string bikinis whose sole purpose is to make me very upset! Some of the ones in the centre of Ostia arent so bad as are more family orientated but still too many skinny mothers for my liking!
Not sure how you say trapped nerve actually-let me know if anyone susses it out. DP translates it as "serves you right for not drying your hair as that is obviously the cause"

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 29/04/2009 12:39

gio tell dp that I've never dried my haor past age 18 and never had trapped nerve. mind you he'll prob say that the damage was done in infancy .

lovely day here actually. off to do another wash to dry out till it lasts.

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 29/04/2009 12:40

I know some people who owns houses in Ostia and I would not go anywhere near where they go for the reason you state. Or was it Fregene? boh.

McCloudismynewnameforawhile · 29/04/2009 13:37

i prefer to see beautiful young bodies tbh, girls and boys on the beach, down my way you see the most awful of bodies in the skimpiest bikinies, not a nice sight, i would not make people feel sick by looking at my cellulite bum in a g string -

Rosa · 29/04/2009 13:49

We have just had a mother and a father of a storm hail and wind and thunder even dd was' whats that noise mummy ?'
My worry is that 2 weeks on the beach in June and I can't even fit in a pair of shorts so I thought exercise bah - I am trying to be good food wise but obviously not good enough ! I am starting weaning in the next few days ( properly and no more buring the brodo like I did yesterday !!) but I hope to bf well morning / evening and merenda for a bit longer ...well until she is ready to stop.
Emanuele Filiberto for European elections ....now that could be interesting I actually quite like him but think his father is a t*at .
Camo how are you feeling?
I looked at mutui on line as well and they look better than the bank . Anyway dh is going to do the rounds of a few places in Ve and see what he comes up with - I have started a search and vediamo but thing is dh is really - ma tanto non troviamo mai - and we have been let down so many times now that I feel the same but am not saying so and am trying to be positive its hard !!

McCloudismynewnameforawhile · 29/04/2009 14:09

rosa do you think prices are coming down there?
no way i would be seen in a pair of shorts, it's wraps for me this summer, even dp is not allowed to look at my body.

Sputnik · 29/04/2009 14:11

One of the great things about always going to Ischia in september is that it's full of elderly Germans!

We looked at about 30 houses before finding anything we liked, you just have to keep at it.
