what's swine flu??? [ignorant emoticon]

when do you want to meet up?

tell us the story behind the private school in Rome pls.

francagoestohollywood · 26/04/2009 21:22

I'm here, I'm here! I got distracted watching the end of Fabio fazio and then a mix of the remake of Poseidon (used to love the original one) and Report on rai3 (on the Italian health system). Needless to say that the remake was utter crap, Report filled me with anxiety, so I'll mn for a while.

Have you all gone?

What's up with bonjela? I don't think I've ever used it, as mine weren't that disrupted by teething (and ds was such an unsettled baby that teething didn't make much difference

Swine flu? I hope not!

francagoestohollywood · 26/04/2009 21:24

Yes, do tell us!

Pippi febbre suina.

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 26/04/2009 21:28

Brangelina tell us: are you really splitting up?????

TheMysticMasseuse · 26/04/2009 21:33

private schools in rome i had forgotten. basically full of thick rich kids, not saying the english schools, i went to private school for 3 years and it was awful. i think the key difference between rome and milan is the work ethic... i am sure private schools in milan are snobbish too but at least they make the kids work hard...

i need to go look for chocolate now. see you all tomorrow.

Sputnik · 26/04/2009 21:39

Yes, Rome is full of figli di papa.

francagoestohollywood · 26/04/2009 21:46

I wouldn't be so sure masseuse, the majority of private schools here in Milan - when I was growing up - were dodgy little institutes to help those who had been bocciati at state school. Some, not many, had a good name, and lots of facilities, but there were still tales of how much drug was flowing there. Specialized schools like the English school, german, swiss, french etc have always been well respected and considered very good (apart from the American school, which was considered "too easy" !

Who is splitting up, not our brangelina? Are the brangelina splitting up? With all those children?

francagoestohollywood · 26/04/2009 21:47

Figli di papa' are everywhere

Camomilla · 26/04/2009 22:26

I'm here too (sorry, it's me, just changed flower plus it's a reminder to myself to have a camomilla instead of cereals late at night or these last couple of kg won't go)

DD's really teething, though can't see anything coming out yet.... she hasn't had milk at bedtime again (and hasn't slept all afternoon!). went to boot sale this morning and picked up an ikea gulliver chair for £2 to see if it's fit underneath the table and used it tonight, DD just loved it and as I expected tried pinching DS's food off his plate! there was something so cute looking at them sat next to each other at the table, DS laughing to make DD laugh

Rosa, girello and bouncer justified!

seen the Notebook, he's very nice

francagoestohollywood · 26/04/2009 22:29

Hello! Oh it is sweet to have the whole family sitting down at the table, isn't it?

I should go to bed, I have a busy day tomorrow 'notte

Camomilla · 26/04/2009 22:44

notte franca

francagoestohollywood · 27/04/2009 08:55

Rosa : I read about Selma Hayek's wedding in Venice. Even Scammy was there. Did you see any VIP ????

Rosa · 27/04/2009 09:00

Nah they diddn't venture into real Venice...Was it big as Dh did not mention anything about a huge matrimonio as normally they get wind of it ! MR loves the keyboard of the computer so maybe thats what I need..... Crappio weather here dh took dd to asilio - mantelllina and boots and umbrella .... I was ironing at 10pm last night ( well 2 pairs of trousers and 3 polos) Vediamo if I go and get her or not ..am looking at girellos shhhhhhhhh!

Sputnik · 27/04/2009 09:14

Shame we don-t live closer Rosa as I have a girello to get rid of. I don-t think it would be worth sending really.

francagoestohollywood · 27/04/2009 09:15

Crappio weather here as well, really cold. Forecast looks really bad until thurs!

There are pics of the wedding and a cronaca on the repubblica website. Lots of celebrities, usual suspects like Bono (cannot stand him), Charlize Theron etc. They had 2 parties, one at La Fenice !

francagoestohollywood · 27/04/2009 09:16

I think I have a girello as well, hiding in the inlaws garage. We might get to your neck of the woods in mid june rosa.

McCloudismynewnameforawhile · 27/04/2009 10:18

Oh, Bono gets on my tits as well, all that fake generosity, wanting to change the world, and then takes up residence somewhere odd (Holland maybe) to pay less taxes.

Yep Scammy and dodgy tache was there with Valeria Golino.

The Notebook sounds a bit sentimental, did you like it Damon?

Crap weather here...not sure whether to concentrate on chores or have a reading pm whilst dd has her nap.

Still don't understand how is it that Leeds Castle is not in Leeds, cannot get my head round that.

francagoestohollywood · 27/04/2009 11:14

I think Bono is officially resident in Montecarlo .
Yes, Scammy looks terrible with the dodgy tache, but I think he's filming a movie about Prima Linea and that's his 1970 look.

Never been to Leeds, so no idea.

Have been very efficient and even managed the supermarket this morning.

Brangelina · 27/04/2009 12:29

Helloo! Am I splitting up? Must go read the gossipy papers, I'm so out of touch.

The Leeds castle not being in Leeds always used to annoy me too. These things are sent to confuse us.

Is my DD the only one who didn't have a girello then? I hate them, they remind me of daleks imo, or at least my work colleague's child always looked a bit like Davros in it. I think the reson for not using them is nothing to do with walking sooner of later, but the risk that they don't appoggiare bene i piedi when they do start walking, plus something to do with hips. Boh. Davros baby walked at 10mo but then they discovered she was putting her weight down wrong on her ankles so she had to wear special shoes for a couple of years. This is a child of a very boastful mum, so I must admit I did feel a bit smug at the time.

Agree with Franca that there are a lot of figli di papà in Milan too, in a couple of places I worked that were conduzione familiare the prole had been to expensive private schools and the ones who had failed the Italian system got sent to American schools, then an Amercian University in Switzerland. I had to check the tesi of one who had studied economics at this wondrous American Uni and it was like reading something written byt a 10yo. He still got a degree though.

Crap weather today, reminds me of the UK. I went out this moorning and got loads done - poste, documenti, checked the graduatoria for the centri estivi. DD's got a place in July and September (yay!) but is in lista d'attesa for August (boo hiss!). They're thinking of expanding the numbers though as apparently the whole of Monza applied.

Rosa · 27/04/2009 13:33

Oh lord it was massive ..well he must not have taken anyone important or he would have said - the main boat 213 is a colleague of his so I guess the company did get the work ..will question him later !
We have the cugino a casa x pranzo anche il pm so dd1 is mega happy - good job I cooked this morning !
Til Thurs this bad weather nahhhhhh
EEk about the storto piedi and hips Brange boh not sure what am going to do she had her 1st apple and babyrice today will her bib did I had forgotten how much mess they make!

OP posts:
francagoestohollywood · 27/04/2009 13:42

rosa, ask him, ask him, we want gossips!

With the storta ankle you never really know for sure though if it's the girello or not, do you?

It is bloody freezing here as well.

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 27/04/2009 13:43

I have heard the hips thing and the piedi storti too. My mum did not like me using it one bit. On my girello you can adjust the height so that they can put the foot doen properly. also really they shouldn't be in there for ages. DD2 walks fine, even too fine for my likings.

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 27/04/2009 13:49

franca when are you going to cambridge?

crappy weather here too.

Brangelina · 27/04/2009 13:50

No you don't, I was just being smug because the mother was being smug about her brilliant daughter walking so early because she had the foresight to buy a girello against paed advice. I think there is a study or something, which is why most pediatri discourage it. Who knows. My only issue with it is the Dalek aspect. I find it scary.

Rosa - we want gossip AND pictures.

francagoestohollywood · 27/04/2009 13:50

Pippi tell us about the brangelinas splitting up
