Wow sputnik! I nwas also always fascinate by 'apicoltori'!
been for a drink and just got home so excuse any mishaps .

Very interested re masseuse's theory re posh schools in rome. Please elaborate asap.

notte.

McCloudismynewnameforawhile · 25/04/2009 09:35

that has reminded me of a wonderful movie The beekeeper

francagoestohollywood · 25/04/2009 11:16

Sputnik . How many english schools are there in rome?

Oh bees are lovely creatures, aren't they?

I'm being assediata by the whole family, the children are fair enough, but why dh is so hopeless? I aksed him to go to the shop to fetch a few things. Shop is closed as it's 25 aprile (but the majority of shop is open, given that I've just come back from bookshop round the corner), of course he comes back shocked by the experience, why the hell didn't he just go to corso san gottardo where everything is likely to be open?
Sorry for rant, it's just a small thing really, I shouldn't be bothered by this, but he seems to be living in a world of his own, and has no idea of what goes on aro9und him [grunf]

francagoestohollywood · 25/04/2009 11:17

It'd be obvious to anyone that most shops would be open as there is the salone del mobile and half europe is here.

gsdhkjgfsjgrs;kkkkkkkkkk

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 25/04/2009 11:47

if any consolation I sent my dh to buy 4 things... I bet you he'll come back with a trolley full.

francagoestohollywood · 25/04/2009 12:23

But see Pippi, I'd be happy if he did that. It'd show that he had some interest towards, you know, stuff... normal day to day things.

Rosa · 25/04/2009 12:57

DH is good about things on a list at a push but often he ' forgets' the most important things and then says non ce per cena - No as you diddn't buy it !
We have the other half of Europe here Franca its manic - I got milk and bread and then did a runner ..well as fast as you can run with dd1 on the buggy board ! MInirosa is a being a nightmare and doing my head in all she does is cry and want to be in braccio. We thought she could be hungry as she is 6 months in 10 days so we have been topping her up with bibberon but she drinks like 30ml and then basta. At night she would drink up to 150ml mixed bm and formula now half if lucky. SHe still has tongue reflux big time as we have tried some frutta BOh going to the consultorio on Wed and see what they say .
Bees - I love really fresh honey !

Rosa, do you think it's busier? Is dh working more?

Oh poor minirosa, and poor you! Do you think she's coming down with something? Is she teething?
I seem to remember that they can be quite restless at that age, a mix of teething, desire to explore more and not being able to do so, a bit of clinginess, etc etc. Does she like going for walks in the buggy?
Also she could be a snacker. Dd at that age wanted to eat (drink milk) often, but very little, and even when she started to eat pappe she'd eat only little quantities (while ds would eat a huge bowl of pappa from day 1)

francagoestohollywood · 25/04/2009 13:08

Maybe she's got a sore throat? boh!!!!!!!!!!!

Rosa · 25/04/2009 13:29

DH is out more but he goes out before his official shift starts and normally gets a run before his colleagues ! We won't know for another couple of months or so if we are ahead of the game or under - hence the holidays we have agreed a budget and sticking to it - hence only 2 weeks al mare not 3 so we can enjoy as normal and not think oh non possiamo etc etc !!
MR - is a rompe - she has been like this now for 3 weeks I think she is frustrated as she likes being vertical / entertained. However in a high chair in the kitchen she creates - She of course stops when in my arms .Today I gave her bm and frutta at 10.30 then we got back at 12.15 she screamed until I had dd lunch ready by 12.35 she then bm well on and off ( I was looking after dd as well who decided to eat lots ..more than I had put out who am I to say no ?) Gave her some formula she drank 30 ml !
I was looking at this as she loves bouncing and my door bouncer will not fit in my doors !!
this looks nice but pricey

No sign of teeth yet - All I know is that at times I feel like crying as It drains me and of course dd1 senses it and plays me up !

francagoestohollywood · 25/04/2009 13:35

Oh bless you Rosa, it is hard, isn't it? That bouncy thing looks like good fun, but at the price.
I know I shouldn't say this, but when ds was around 10 months (maybe 9) we got him a girello (something tells me that girelli are frowned upon on mn ) and he loved it! ANd it gave me half an hour of freedom, allowing me to cook or doing the laundry etc

Rosa · 25/04/2009 13:51

The girello is a no go in consultorio as well something about them walking later --SIL has an old one but the toys on it a a bit knackered - She needs things that move and that she can bash - She has 2 toys that she loves that she shakes and shakes but of course when she drops them she looses sight of them and she cries- I have tried proping her up by her gym but she slips down - Not buying a bumbo either they are Eu50 !! Right they are both asleep now my cue to go and do something !

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 25/04/2009 14:21

Rosa, DD's been in her girello for a while now, she loves it (best £1.60 we spent for DS!), she was so happy when mum fixed my sister's old one when we were in italy as she was "independent" again after the first couple of days of just being in my arms, the pain... (like miniR, she'd be always in my arms otherwise). DS was in it from about 5months and walked at 10, btw.Bumbo is great, but they just don't last enough, so get a 2nd hand if you want one

Sputnik · 25/04/2009 15:59

I think the girello and walking later thing is a myth personally, you do have to be careful about them pulling stuff off shelves though. Definitely find something she can be vertical in, the sooner you do the more you-ll get your money-s worth!
Argh, the punctuation is all funny on this computer, apologies but I can-t find the apostrophe.

And there are quite a few english schools in Rome I think, maybe about 15.

gio71 · 25/04/2009 18:42

ds was in his girello for months and loved it - so did I! Never had any walking issues.
Been to sea today, have a bright red nose and forehead-very British

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 25/04/2009 19:49

dd2 was in girello as well. the best money ever spent once again. as you know she walked very early.

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 25/04/2009 19:50

btw we ahd a great day with the McC's family. My dds were so happy and exhausted - already asleep. (dh still awake )

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 25/04/2009 21:14

gio, I still have a patchy forhead since burning it last april in the park, I blame it on the pg hormones.... all I did was watching DP and DS playing football and wasn't even facing the sun..

all snotty in the sunflower household, between cold and hayfever (didn't sleep much last night between blowing my nose and DD waking up) poor DD, still can't breathe, she's had a rotten evening, hasn't even bf, so now I'll have to express... btw, when did you cut daytime milk feeds? I can't remember what I did with DS , only 4 years ago!

need to arrange another london meeting, now that DP's a SAHD I'm trying to take advantage and go round more while I'm still on mat leave and DD's still so "portable".

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 25/04/2009 21:22

sunflower anytime really. this time we should bring the 'babies' (mind you mine is nearly a toddler now) as well.

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 25/04/2009 21:23

I'm always 'very british' like that unfortunately. while dh and the dds look down on me very 'mediterraneanly'

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 25/04/2009 21:30

DS's already so dark... guess that's his father's southern genes, though I used to be darker too (can't really stand the sun as I used to, maybe I'm being "british-ised" too), and my sis is veeeeeeeeery dark, people think she's noth-african or brazilian (she's obviously inherited the greatgran's genes montenegrini)

Sputnik · 25/04/2009 21:42

I'm probably looking pink too, we were out in the garden all morning. Luckily for them DCs have inherited their DH's skin, although DS was looking a bit pink too.

Were you in Ostia Gio? We were there yesterday eating pizza on the beach before looking at the school. It's practically in Ostia in fact.

BTW neither of us realised it was a holiday today, until DH went out to try and get his hair cut. This one always catches me out.

Sputnik · 25/04/2009 21:43

My DH's skin that should be.

francagoestohollywood · 25/04/2009 21:46

Oh, glad to see I'm not the only girello fan on MN

Had a lovely afternoon taking ds to a party in a field only a few tram stops away from here, and chatting with other mums. Then we went to pizzeria with other friends with children. I'm now distrutta!
I'm a bit gutted that the weather is going to get very bad tomorrow, I was getting used to the spring.

Sunflower, I can't remember much about day feeds, I think with ds I used to breastfeed him early in the morning and in the afternoon per merenda (and maybe before bedtime?) when he was around 7 months? Boh, I stopped pf when he was around 10 months, if I remember well. Dd I stopped breastfeeding her all together when she was 7 as I had to take medication and was too much in pain to really research whether i could still feed her.
