B's birthday sounds great - how did the keyboard go down ? about car bump though... do send pics of birthday girl !
You could ring your doctors surgery to ask, might put your mind at rest.
Am off to tea party soon at T's junior school (to thank those who have helped out this year - I've done little except for the landscaping committee meetings and and afternoon of bird drawing with yr 6 children..then must dash to infants school to pick up S and take her to her dad. T will be late as it's his celebration of excellence this afternoon. Book group tonight (The Reader) - might volunteer to drive -it's in a village a few miles away..will see.

Hi MAS! Tea party sounds nice - you're very good to carry on helping out there B's school had a coffee morning for helpers too - it's very nice to feel appreciated! Did you enjoy 'The Reader'? I'm always on the look out for recommendations for my book groups!

The keyboard has been a huge hit B's played on it alot already, must get her a music book as she's keen to play tunes herself. At the moment though, she's really enjoying making up her own melodies - it's lovely

I've been clearing out our bedroom today. It's amazing how much stuff accumulates in there MIL is arriving on Thursday, so I need to make space in our room to store all the junk that's being stored in the spare room I really need to declutter....

hippipotamiHasLost49lbs · 20/07/2009 14:37

Hello you two!

Glad to hear party was a success - bummer about the bump though!! Keyboard sounds a great hit - brilliant

Tea party to thank the parent helpers sounds great!! At the junior school where I do Toe by Toe they give all parent helpers a potted plant. Except they forgot about me this year I saw all the other children come out with plants for their parents but O was not given one for me. Gah!

Have just had a very cathartic clear-out in my wardrobe. Anything that is even remotely too big has been thrown out and will get taken up to the charity shop this afternoon. It has left me with only 2 items to wear.... Not much in the shop now summer clothes wise but am looking forward to a shopping spree come the autumn!!

It was O's first day on the holidays today - we have taken the car in to be serviced and walked the dog. Nothing too exciting!!

MaryAnnSingleton · 20/07/2009 15:37

oh hippi how could they forget you...? was talking to deputy head and he admits it's easily done and he gets worried about it..
Tea was nice- had a scone with cream and strawberries and blueberries- talked to T's TA from last year and she was delighted to hear how he's doing and said some really nice things about him..aww..then dashed off to get S who was describing how I could have carried a scone back for her (I said I couldn't because I'd've dropped it !)
The Reader is good, hated it at the beginning (haven't seen the film) but it changed after the beginning section and I got much more into it.It will remind me of travelling in the hospital cars !

byw - a hospital car turned up for me this morning !! I told them I had finished - poor thing, hope he hadn't come far for me !

OP posts:
Hotcrossbunny · 20/07/2009 16:24

Oh Hippi, that's useless Because it's so easy to forget someone, you'd think they'd be super organised... How lovely to have a really good wardrobe clearout though I'm really useless and struggle to throw anything away, even clothes I'm not keen on...I need someone with ruthless tendencies to take me in hand, someone with good taste who can go through my things and make me see sense!

Can't believe the car turned up today MAS! Guess that's where the money in the NHS is going Will add The Reader to my pile and see if I get round to trying it...

Am eating a piece of Birthday cake - must stop!

hippipotamiHasLost49lbs · 20/07/2009 16:38

at the car - that is just plain daft!!
But had to at S's description of how to carry a scone!

The clear out was great - I am rubbish at throwing things out, even things I have not worn for years and years so this time I was ruthless (not helped by the fact it was all too big!! I threw out 3 skirts, 2 pairs of cropped trousers and one pair of jeans all too big. I also threw out 2 jumpers, purely because I have had them for 4 years each and am just sick to death of them. Felt fab! Am very very tempted to throw out my winter coat - a grey woolen one, I have had it for 10 years. I had it dry-cleaned at the end of the winter and hung it in the wardrobe for wearing next winter. Thing is, it is more than likely going to be too big, and now I have lost some weight I fancy a nice dark red or rich purple woolen wintercoat. Something with a bit of colour instead of hiding away in grey....

Have just come home from collecting the car from the garage. Another chore over and done with Stopped off at my friend K's house after school for a cuppa and a chat. Always nice

How are T and B? Are they as fed up as E to still be going to school?
Luckily we are on serious wind-down now, tomorrow is a picnic on the school field (with all family members invited so should be fun) and Weds is games day. Roll on the holidays!!!

hippipotamiHasLost49lbs · 20/07/2009 16:38

There is a rogue (not in there somewhere!! Gah!

MaryAnnSingleton · 20/07/2009 17:53

clear out sounds brilliant !! well done - I have to gear myself up to do such things but can be quite ruthless once I'm in the swing - I always feel better afterwards ! Very well done hippi, not least for being too small for your old clothes !
T came home with his certificate and fancy pen...tomorrow he says there';s a boys singing day, not sure what it is,but organised by the fab head of music who is leaving and he is very keen for boys to sing. T happy enough as school is almost over and I think it's all pretty much wound down.

OP posts:
hippipotamiHasLost49lbs · 20/07/2009 17:57

Huge CONGRATULATIONS to T for his certificate and pen! Well done

Singing tomorrow sounds great.

Music was the only subject in ds's report where he received 'excellent' in all areas. Bit of a surprise to dh and I as we are as tone deaf as a brick!

MaryAnnSingleton · 20/07/2009 18:21

and thanks !

MaryAnnSingleton · 21/07/2009 10:37

well, believe it or not, a hospital car has just called again for me (different driver) !!
Book group was very nice yesterday - good discussion and lovely time with book group ladies as always
Slept very badly though, not sure whether it's over stimulation from book group or anxiety or just feeling uncomfortable...chest is sore and twingy

OP posts:
hippipotamiHasLost49lbs · 21/07/2009 10:49

Am in about the hospital car!! Someone in the office has mucked up! What a waste of the driver's time, fuel and your time!
Glad to hear book group was fun, but about lack of sleep. What are you anxious about?

Are you two going away at all this summer? If so, what are you doing?

We are not going until the 19th of August. I am counting the days...
We are going to the Netherlands, spending 1 night in the Efteling Hotel, spending 1 day at the Efteling theme park and then driving to the north of the Netherlands (Friesland) to stay with my parents for a week. We have lots of fun activities planned in for that week, not least a 'water/wellie walk' which my dad has discovered. It is a 2 hour round trip through mud and streams and there are some rivers to cross in wooden ferries which you have to operate yourself (some sort of pully system) Sounds great!! Will also do a day trip to Amsterdam, go to the beach (weather permitting) and take dad's boat onto the lake (with Oliver in charge - bit hairy but fun!)

MaryAnnSingleton · 21/07/2009 10:54

mad isn't it..the radiotherapy secretary is very good and efficient but I think communication must be a bit wavery between them and the transport place ! this driver says it often happens. Am just anxious generally about my meeting with bc nurse on Thursday and making my decision about hormone therapy. And holidays too actually- I always get nervous before going away..we'll be in Suffolk - your Holland trip sounds fab - I loved last year's photos, it looked so great...are we still on for a morning outing on 14th Aug btw ?

OP posts:
hippipotamiHasLost49lbs · 21/07/2009 11:43

Yes, definately! Friday the 14th sounds great. Where shall we meet? I am happy to do Alice Holt again - just need to read the map better this time

Have you made a decision about the Tamoxifen? There is a lot to think about isn't there?

Must dash - picnic with friend K in the park (despite the somewhat wet weather)
Will be back later

MaryAnnSingleton · 21/07/2009 11:57

no decision made yet, but gut feeling very strongly tells me not to take it.
Am happy to meet at Alice Holt again,if that's good for everyone..unless you fancy BirdWorld (though that'd be expensive) We can walk while the kids rush about, eat cake, drink tea and coffee !!

OP posts:
Hotcrossbunny · 21/07/2009 13:18

Another car! That's mad! Sorry you didn't sleep well last night - will be good to get Thursday's appointment over with I guess. Can't help with Tamoxifen decision, but I'm a big believer in gut instinct... Hopefully the bc nurse will be helpful. Glad bookgroup was good. I love mine

Hippi, your holiday sounds fab! We're off to Derbyshire camping from 2nd August for a week. We're meeting my sister and her family, so it should be great. Am praying for decent weather We're also hoping to camp again near the end of August, but money is so tight, we may end up staying at home instead Whatever happens, it'll be nice to have a break together.

Didn't realise we'd set a date to meet... How did I miss that??? We're hoping to camp the next day, so will be in a whirlwind of packing, but the morning sounds great! Don't mind where we meet. How about Guildford? There's Stoke Park - huge paddling pool if hot, play equipment, crazy golf, tea/ice cream kiosk, loads of space to run... Do either of you know it? Or the museum if it's wet?

Have just had coffee with a Polish friend. Her daughter, J is B's best friend at school, but they're not in the same class next year J 's mum is expecting baby no 3 in August, so J has gone to Poland for the whole summer holiday to make life a bit easier for the mum. I don't know if I'd have done that, but J seems perfectly happy about it. B is very sad J wont be around to play though, especially as they only live a few minutes away. They've swapped addresses, so must make sure B does actually remember to write....

MaryAnnSingleton · 21/07/2009 13:49

I'm a stranger to Guildford -so haven't a clue where you mean Hotcross ! sounds nice though..am just fretful of getting lost

OP posts:
hippipotamiHasLost49lbs · 21/07/2009 15:54

I know Stoke Park, but not how to get there (hopeless emoticon) Having said that, I was waaaaay out of my comfort zone when we went to Alice Holt but managed to find it (eventually)
I have no idea what museum in Guildford you are talking about ()
So long as whereever we are going will appeal to the boys as well (would the paddeling pool in stoke park be a bit babyish for them?) then I am happy

Hotcrossbunny · 21/07/2009 16:13

No no, it was just a suggestion. Was trying to come up with somewhere equidistant! Alice Holt is fine - Birdworld has not great memories for me, so would prefer to avoid it...

Hippi - Guildford Museum is right behind the castle. People have been raving about it recently Might appeal to O and E over the summer? BTW, do you know if The Lightbox has any special children's activities planned over the summer? We enjoyed our afternoon there the other week, but probably will only go back so soon if there is something new for B IYKWIM?

Have found myself irresistably drawn to the Moldies thread erupting... why am I even interested?

hippipotamiHasLost49lbs · 21/07/2009 17:13

Ooo, Guilford Museum - must check that one out

Not sure about the Lightbox, am sure there is lots goign on, but have not looked. I have come to realise we don't have a lot of days left to fill this holiday...That is a good thing though I suppose

Has the mouldies thread erupted? May wander over to take a llook

MaryAnnSingleton · 22/07/2009 09:58

Not Birdworld then - it costs too much anyway - I suppose A Holt is good because it's big and outdoors, though if rainy might not be so jolly. Sorry if I sound wimpy about venturing into Surrey, I just don't know it at all !!
T back at lunchtime today, then we'll go to Sainsb. in the afternoon. My chest is totally yucky (sorry if tmi) I have a feeling it may need a dressing -vv sore and weepy (not me,skin)

OP posts:
hotcrossbunny · 22/07/2009 10:17

Oh MAS, sorry you're suffering I really hope the bc nurse can sort it out for you tomorrow. When my face was particularly bad, throbbing and weeping, I felt awful and so low... Treat yourself to something lovely, all this will pass...

Not at all wimpy about not knowing Surrey, I don't know your neck of the woods either Agree if the weather isn't great, Alice Holt isn't perfect. What would you normally do with T on a rainy day?? We'd probably go for tea and cake somewhere, armed with colouring things...

Last day today! B is off to a friend's house this afternoon, and I'll probably stay for a quick coffee, then leave the mum to it! I have a mountain of ironing and cleaning to do before MIL arrives tomorrow.

MaryAnnSingleton · 22/07/2009 10:34

thanks Hotcross ,am sure nurse will know what to do !
T loves anywhere with cake ! or any food - we could possibly go out for an early lunch at a P Express or something..we'd have to have lunch at some point..

OP posts:
hotcrossbunny · 22/07/2009 10:44

B loves pizza There's always Farnham Museum?? Never been, but a quick look online says they're doing drop in craft activities in the hols and also have age-appropriate children's discovery bags.... Might be OK if it's raining... Think you park in Waitrose car park.
