Oooh, I hope B has a good time!

I had to about your mother. What had Adrian Chiles done to upset her??

E is fine. Am not best pleased with little S. She borrowed E's watch for a game they were playing yesterday, she still had it on when K came to collect her, K picked her up and carried her into the house (little S likes to be treated like a baby at times and I have just found the watch on the path in the garden. We have not been out in the garden since little S was collected last night, so she must have taken the watch off whilst K was carrying her and just dropped it on the ground! Grrrr, little madam!!

Have just come back from lunchtime supervisering and it was not too bad (in fact I quite enjoyed it) I saw E briefly, playing alongside but not with others, but she was happy so that was the main thing.
First gymnastics session for her this afternoon - should be fun!

MargaretMountford · 06/05/2009 14:35

I wouldn't be pleased with little S either hippi ... she sounds a bit of a spoilt madam.
Hope B has had fun and not been worried by sharks...if it's any comfort to her the first time I went to a big fancy aquarium (I was about 22 !) I was quite nervous about being in the shark tunnel
Glad lunch time was ok too and hope E enjoys her gymnastics.
too @ Adrian Chiles and Hotcross's mum !

Hi MAS

The problem with little S is a tricky one. I have known K and little S / big S since little S was 6 months old.
And she has always been able to wind K around her little finger.
When K started childminding little S (who was I believe 2 by then) started behaving more and more like a baby - wanting a dummy, wanting to go in the buggy etc. K let her.
And even now, if little S does not want to do as she is told she reverts to this squeaky baby talk (which makes my ears hurt) and K picks her up.
On the other hand, little S can be a truly delightful, grown up, thoughful, kind, funny little girl. And E loves her. And K is a much calmer, kinder more tolerant mother than I have ever been.
But sometimes, just sometimes, I want to go grrrrrr at little S. But I can't because she is not mine But then I am sure K feels the same about E. After all, we all tolerate things in our children we do not tolerate in others. And I genuinly do care a lot for little S. But I just wish she would have handed me or E the watch, not just dropped it on the path.

Right, better go and do the school run.
I hope B had a great time with the fishes, and I will fill you in on gymnastics when I get back.

hippipotamiHasLost26Pounds · 06/05/2009 14:44

Mmm, maybe she did hand someone the watch. But why would that someone place it on the path when we were all heading for the house??

hippipotamiHasLost26Pounds · 06/05/2009 17:41

E tells me little S gave her the watch and she put it on the path by the trampoline to put her shoes on. So I may have been mentally grrrrring at little S for no reason.

Just back from gymnastics. E had a last minute wobble whilst we were waiting for her to go in. She decided she did not want to do it. Luckily another mum came up and told her that her little girl A only started two weeks ago and that now she loved it. So E went in. I could not see much, they have a sliding door they like to keep closed during most of the session but I did see her do the warm up, I saw her do a series of rolypolies, I saw her do a couple of handstands [I did not know she could do handstands emoticon] and then they disappeared onto the equipment and I lost sight of her.
But E tells me they walked along a balance beam without anyone holding on, and then they had to do a roly poly on the balance beam with someone holding them. She tells me it was all fun and she definately (her words)wants to go again.
And she is already asking for the club leotard because she wants to look the same as all the other girls. (and it is navy blue with sparkly stars on it )

Did B have a good time hotcross?

Hotcrossbunny · 06/05/2009 19:54

at the watch sleuthing Hippi! The thing is though, obviously little S might have done it in your eyes, no smoke without fire etc etc...

Glad E enjoyed the gymnastics. B would love love love to do it, but I can't figure out what to drop instead, so we'll have to try at a later date.

B had a great time at the aquarium! She came home buzzing with what she'd seen - the stingrays were a big hit - and wants us to go there all together. Am a wee bit about who she was in a group with though. She had J and C, nice boys but not particular friends, and R who she rarely mentions and is 'definitely not going to my party mummy' and then L who is generally spiteful and naughty. Apparently she made B cry 3 times today I'm probably being pfb about it, but it's got me worrying about who she'll be with next year in year 2. Surely they could have found her one friend to be in a group with? She said all her other friends were in pairs together.... is it that they don't really know B and who she's friends with?? She clearly had a good time tho, so should stop over-analysing!

She had a really fab swimming lesson tonight

Hotcrossbunny · 06/05/2009 19:59

Oh! I forgot! Very exciting nerve wracking I start tutoring a 4 year old wee boy on Saturday! GULP!

I saw an ad in the post office window and decided to be brave and ring up... Apparently the poor wee thing is at nursery at a private school and not coping with the homework I am to help him with it, and basically try to give him confidence. I completely forgot to ask what his name is and what I'll be paid, I was in such a tizz. I'm a bit about it, I don't really think it's right, but at least I'll be sympathetic and not push him horribly.

hippipotamiHasLost26Pounds · 07/05/2009 08:05

Oooh, poor wee boy needing tutoring at that age - at the parents!
But lucky little boy having you for a tutor, you will be fab!
Feel a bit about blaming little S for the watch, I think I was still reeling from the 'only boring girls wear dresses' comment. Am obviously having an overly-sensitive moment!

Glad B had a good time at the aquarium. The groups don't make sense but it does tie in with my own experience. Every single school trip to date O has not been with any of his friends. And those children who struggle with friendships, or who have one clear friend, or who are insecure, get to be with their friends. Those who are confident, or friendly with most children, just get placed in any old group whereever there is space. Luckily O is never too fussed. E has not had a school trip yet, so I don't know how teh teacher will allocate the groups - watch this space!
But I don't think the group B was placed in has any bearing on which Y2 class she will go into. Are they mixing them all up again to go into Y2 then?

MargaretMountford · 07/05/2009 09:57

am equally at poor little boy having tutoring - at nursery ?!! but you'll be great hotcross and a lovely, calm influence for him - you seem very patience and I know you are lovely,so he's a lucky boy. Don't fret, you'll be fabulous !
I'd still be miffed with little S btw

Hotcrossbunny · 07/05/2009 10:19

I'd be miffed too One of B's friends winds me up, she's such a tell tale and will be cruel and tactless til B responds, and then rush to her mother saying B is being mean Drives me mad, and her mum just doesn't see it!

I still feel very sorry for this little boy and wonder if I shouldn't do it?? But if I don't, someone else will, and we could do with the money... I'll go on Saturday and see what the situation is and decide then if I can keep it very lowkey, or if the mum is going to push push push. My dsis disapproves hugely!

What are you doing today? I'm washing cushion covers and ironing duvet covers. Joy! Am off to walk doggle first though.

MargaretMountford · 07/05/2009 10:23

they'd probably get someone else, so you should do it !!
Am doing laundry then later off to Waitrose to buy antipasti stuff for my dinner party on Saturday (4 friends coming)

hippipotamiHasLost26Pounds · 07/05/2009 10:29

I agree - better you tutor him, you are patient and kind and you will find a way of keeping it low-key and fun for the wee mite.

Have just come back from walking Dilldog, am waiting for my egg to boil so I can have part two of my breakfast, and then I need to zoom off to the petshop for dogfood and hobby craft for some ribbon. Then to the offlicense to buy some wine for a friend (she is giving me her dd's almost brandnew gymclub leotard for E, refusing to let me pay her, those things are £36 new so I will get her some nice wine instead)
And other than that it is the usual round of laundry, a bit of tidying, collecting O and E, reading and homework etc.
But we are going out for a nice meal at Blubeckers in Gomshall Mill tonight, so that will be lovely

MargaretMountford · 07/05/2009 10:57

ooh, lovely - just you and dh ?

hippipotamiHasLost26Pounds · 07/05/2009 10:59

No, all four of us

Hotcrossbunny · 07/05/2009 11:34

That sounds nice. Any particular reason, or just being civilised??

hippipotamiHasLost26Pounds · 07/05/2009 11:37

It is our 10th wedding anniversary. Our wedding was a quiet low key affair and we treat the anniversaries the same.
So just a lovely cosy family meal is perfect

MargaretMountford · 07/05/2009 12:06

aww, sounds perfect ! have a lovely one...
Have just had my appointments through and am now feeling quite scared..next Monday is the breast care nurse, then Tuesday the pre-op assessment and the following Monday 18th is the operation...it's all so close,I'd rather cast it away from my mind - of course I have been thinking about it but was thinking,oh it's a few more weeks away.

hippipotamiHasLost26Pounds · 07/05/2009 12:10

It is good to have it over and done with though! Did you get the results from teh bloods and the chest Xray? Have they said how long you will need to be in hospital after the surgery? My lumpectomy was day surgery - I had to be there for 7.30am , was operated on at around 9.00am and was released ready to go home by 1.30pm.
They gave me strong painkillers to take with me but hand on heart I did not need them - there was hardly any discomfort there at all

Don't fret about it, all will be fine, you know where we are if you need us

MargaretMountford · 07/05/2009 12:23

wise words hippi ! thanks Did you have any radiotherapy afterwards btw ? was yours benign ? sorry to pry. I think, from my reseachings, that they pin point (literally, with a wire) the area using ultrasound (I hope not mammogram again) before they operate as there's no lump as such. I will ask the breast nurse on Monday anyway. They haven't said anything about bloods or chest x ray.

Hotcrossbunny · 07/05/2009 12:47

Congratulations on your 10th wedding anniv. Hippi! Ours was last August Hard to believe it's been 10 years! Hope you have a lovely meal.

I agree with Hippi, MAS. Definitely best to get these things over and done with. IME things are rarely as bad as you imagine. It is always a bit when the dates come through though. I have no experience of anything similar, so can't help with practical things at all, but I am thinking of you, and willing it all to be easily resolvable.

MargaretMountford · 07/05/2009 12:50

yes, you are right too hotcross !
Forgot to say congratulations hippi ! It'll be our 14th in August

hippipotamiHasLost26Pounds · 07/05/2009 16:19

Oooh, they did not do the wire-ultrasound pin point high tech thing with me (sounds very high-tec!). Before the surgery (about an hour before) a lady surgeon came to visit me on the ward, felt the lump and circled it in black marker pen!
It took two weeks for the results to come back, mine was benign so no further treatment needed.

MargaretMountford · 07/05/2009 17:15

marker pen !

hippipotamiHasLost26Pounds · 07/05/2009 21:09

I know!! Marker pen! Had to laugh - the surgeon looked like a bag lady, she was carrying lots of carrier bags full of stuff (?) and paperwork / files and dressed very very scruffily. Before I knew what had happened she had whipped my hospital gown up and grappled with my breasts and drawn a circle and some arrows. Then she smiled at me (slightly spooky that) and walked off.
'Twas most bizarre

MargaretMountford · 07/05/2009 21:41

yikes !! My surgeon is rather a sober, grave man as far as I can remember- he seemed genuinely sorry to be telling me the news. I looked him up too and he's a top man which is a comfort.
Rang my MIL this afternoon to tell her - she is on water tablets at the moment and had to have a wee in the middle of our conversation so she took the phone into the loo and we continued talking while she peed - surreal and funny !
