Hello ladies

Just a quick message to say I had a fab time this morning, thank you very much

I love the Packhouse and keep walking around the house plotting places to put all the lovely bits and pieces.
The bird is hanging off some branches of twisty hazelnut tree which are in a jug in the bathroom. He looks very happy there
Have identified 3 possible locations for your lovely hearts MAS, but not settled on a definate home for them yet. They need to be somewhere prominent, because they are so cute!

Thanks for a lovely day

Hotcrossbunny · 28/04/2009 18:54

Me too. It was lovely Must do it more often!

My hearts look great in the dining room - perfect colours.

Hope it all went OK this afternoon MAS. Was thinking of you. xxx

MargaretMountford · 28/04/2009 19:41

I had a lovely morning too..it's fab there -and mum and dad were delighted by the loo roll holder ! wish I'd bought a wee bird too, but I love the little pot and useful raffia..must go back for hooks too. Told T about the sweet horse. Have e mailed you both about my results - not brilliant but we'll get through it ! thanks for being so kind both of you xxx

MargaretMountford · 28/04/2009 19:42

oh and thanks too for buying the hearts - I felt so awkward taking money

hippipotamiHasLost20Pounds · 28/04/2009 20:17

Glad your parents like the loo roll holder - must admit I quite liked the look of it myself!
Have received your email and replied. Hope you are okay - you are right, you will get through it

The urchins are in bed, my pasta is cooking (with the new MN method of turning the heat off) and then I will snuggle up on the sofa. Have some sewing to do (remembers magnetic pincushion at the packhouse).

Back later

Btw, I completely forgot to tell O and E about the cute little horse. Must do so tomorrow.

Hotcrossbunny · 28/04/2009 21:10

Have replied to your email MAS. We are always here... Am I allowed to send a virtual hug? Very unMN!

I forgot to tell B about the horse too...And he was so cute!

How did the pasta go? I turned the heat off my rice after 5 mins and it was fine

Am off to watch All the small things. back later x

MargaretMountford · 28/04/2009 21:27

will do the pasta thing next time !
thanks for kind e mail replies...
T has drawn a very sweet whippet for his art homework - reminded me of that one in the Pack House..

hippipotamiHasLost20Pounds · 28/04/2009 22:03

Pasta went really really well! Am pleased - I will be able to spend the money saved on the gas bill in the Packhouse

Hotcrossbunny · 29/04/2009 19:47

Ooh, must try pasta thing

Hope you've both had OK days, and that you're not too stressed MAS...

I've had a lovely, really busy day. I went out for coffee with my best mum friend from school this morning. It was great, we had loads to talk about and catch up on. Then I had my hair cut, which I'm a little about, but it may grow on me

B had her swimming lesson this afternoon and was very proud to be able to do handstands in the water! I guess it's another target thing they need to be able to do? She also managed a short length on her front, which is a first

Then B's very first baby friend and her little sister came for tea. Incredibly, almost all of the tea was eaten - fish fingers, mash, carrots and broccoli - with little fuss. Only anguish because I'd cut the carrots into fingers, not cubes

Dh is now reading B's bedtime story while I collapse on here for a mo before making our tea!

hippipotamiHasLost20Pounds · 29/04/2009 20:05

Oh, busy day
I spent the morning doing chores, and then O had his friend L here for tea, and E had her friend J here. It was lovely. I let them play in the park after school for an hour, then once we got home they just went off and played. I prepared a large pan of spaghetti bolognaise with garlic bread and cucumber / carrot batons. Choc mousse for afters. It went well.
Doing it again tomorrow with two other friends. Then next week I have little S and big S for tea one day, E's little friend P another day, and then I am done with teas for a while because invigilating kicks in

Right, O needs to go to bed, E should already be there but is faffing about, so need to go and restore order.
And then I am treating myself to some left-over spag bol and a glass of wine

hippipotamiHasLost20Pounds · 29/04/2009 20:06

Why the about the haircut - is it too short or just the style you don't like? Try to describe it, am trying to picture you with different hair...
(loving the 'grow on me' gag, very good! )

Hotcrossbunny · 30/04/2009 13:06

Yum! Your guests obviously eat well at the Hippi house. I have E coming for tea tomorrow - first visit, so will be on best behaviour. Think girls will make their own pizzas, and then choc mousse for pud too Must check with E's mum that she hasn't any food foibles.

I've been weeding our parking place at the bottom of the garden today. It was mortifyingly overgrown Now I've a bundle of phonecalls to make.

Hope you're both OK.

Hotcrossbunny · 30/04/2009 13:08

Hair! Forgot hair! It's much the same as before, but a little bit shorter and thinner on top to create a bit more curl. It's not too bad today, but a bit sticky-outy at the sides... Love the length and would like to go a bit longer so I can put it up easily.

hippipotamiHasLost20Pounds · 30/04/2009 13:12

Hair sounds nice

Am very very of the fact you have a parking space at the bottom of the garden! I have just had to squeeeeeeeze my car into the tiny space left for me by the neighbours. I did try to abandon it a bit further up the road but that is supposedly a private road and I had some residents hound me away The look of disapproval on their faces was actually quite hilarious and I would be laughing if I was not so cross about their pettiness!
As much as I love my house, the parking issue drives me crazy!

Right, am going to have some lunch and calm down.

Hotcrossbunny · 30/04/2009 13:26

We are really really lucky with parking. Most houses in our road have big drives, so there isn't really a parking problem, unless it's Easter and lots of visitors. Infact we only use our parking space if we have visitors. The kerb isn't lowered, and dh has the heebie-geebies if I bump up over it too often We were talking about getting a quote to have it lowered, but it was over £2000 for a friend, so we decided we had other priorities. Will keep waiting for the lottery win!

I can't bear nosey, miserable neighbours. I really do believe that you don't own the right to the spaces infront of your house, it's very much first come, first served. Our neighbours opposite come out in their slippers to move their car, even only one space closer Madness!

hippipotamiHasLost20Pounds · 30/04/2009 13:34

Oooh, my neighbours are not that mad, and we do have a dropped kerb but the car is too big for the space available (we dropped the kerb when I had a ford fiesta) The private road thing is stupid - it is a cul-de-sac of 1960's terraced properties (only 3 houses) For some reason it is marked as a private road. Those properties are virtually all inhabited by old people and they defend it vigorously against alien invaders! Infuriating, especially seeing as all the houses also have private driveways so there are 4 spaces spare all day every day which no-one is allowed to park in.

Hotcrossbunny · 30/04/2009 13:54

Oh how annoying. That would definitely drive me mad!

hippipotamiHasLost20Pounds · 30/04/2009 14:30

Thanks for not telling me I was being unreasonable about my parking frustration. I do tend to let it get to me way too much. So much so that the other day, when my neighbour was forced halfway across my driveway due to someone parking half over his, I wanted to put the house on the market
I think if I could get rid of the car I'd be much happier

I hope MAS is okay.

MargaretMountford · 30/04/2009 16:27

Hi ! I'm ok, just been busy... @ the chocolate mousse !- that's what we had for pudding yesterday !!
Parking is not good here - long narrow road which people park in willy nilly when going to the doctor's surgery or to the chiropractor and dentist which are just on the main road at the end of ours -grrrr..sometimes I have to park up at the other end, which is infuriating- we are guilty of having 2 cars so I shouldn't really grumble..but...
Bet your hair looks lovely hotcross, it's so pretty and wavy.
Blood test and chest x ray yesterday which were all ok and then went to Farnham to look for moulds for my kulfi (rosewater & pistachio) which I'm making as one of my puddings next weekend for my guests (my first dinner party here I'm ashamed to say) - found some which are tiny individual pudding moulds which I hope will do. Bought and indulgence for myself - some Dior Sweet Sun which is an alcohol free scent (in the manner of Eau Dynamisante ) and therapeutic body spray - I had some last year and it's deliciously summery, like the scent of beaches-sun tan lotion-y-it's lovely ! I can then spray it on to feel fresh in hospital, not that I'll be there very long I hope. I confess to wanting some more anyway, and this is a great excuse !!
Today my friend Sally came to coffee bringing muffins and then I did Sainsbury's and my friend Sarah came by with a beautiful bird filled with lavender which she'd made for me...you'd love it ! Am just eating lunch as I'd forgotten about it !!

hippipotamiHasLost20Pounds · 30/04/2009 17:05

Oooh MAS, a coffee and nuffin filled day
The bird sounds fab!
Glad to hear bloods and xrays are fine. Have been thinking of you.

We have the same problem as you regarding parking. Our street ends in the high street, and even though the village carpark exits into our street (entry from the high street) people still prefer to park in the street because it shaves 30 seconds off their walk to the shops. This has led to most people (including us) dropping their kerb but now the street looks a bit ugly as it is missing a lot of the greenery you would find in front gardens. Most people do try with hanging baskets and potted plants, but it is not the same.

E has her friend L to play. They have been upstairs ever since we arrived home from school, bar a brief visit down here for juice and biscuits, and they seem to be having a great time. L is lovely, sadly not in E's class but in one of the other Y1 classes.
O's friend H is here. H is the lovely boy, I may have told you about him, who was good friends with O in nursery, but they have been in separate classes ever since nursery. They don't even see each other during maths or literacy as H is in top set for both. He is lovely though, youngest of 3, has 2 elder sisters, the oldest one of whom is at uni and the younger one is doing her GCSE's this year at the school where I invigilate.
So far it has been a lovely quiet afternoon

I too am sure your hair will look lovely hotcross - we'll all have to meet up soon so we can admire it

Right, tea is in teh oven but needs turning. Am doing sausages, potato waffles, pease and sweetcorn today. With a little bit of chocolate and vanilla toffee icecream in a cone for pudding
No idea what I am going to have for dinner - forgot to cater for myself. Have rifled through the cupboards and freezer - my options are a fishfinger sandwich, a cheese toastie (too fattening really) or a bowl of porridge! Sob!

hippipotamiHasLost20Pounds · 30/04/2009 17:06

nuffin?? muffin!

hippipotamiHasLost20Pounds · 30/04/2009 17:07

just found lots more spelling mistakes - pease?? just ignore them
