Happy Birthday Zeb!

Hope you have a great day being spoilt and pampered

Berrie · 05/03/2009 07:20

Hope the new bathroom is ok!
Our visitor didn't cause too much damage but I was worn out. Didn't expect to have to entertain him too. Ds just wanted to watch the Tv but visitor didn't
Took him home high as a kite and he got into trouble because when he was made to say thank you he added poo. hope they don't think ds is a bad influence.

Berrie · 05/03/2009 07:22

Oh Yeah Haaaaaaaapy Biiiirthday!

Hands carefully wrapped parcel containing glass to hold false teeth!

Eeeeee you old git!

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 05/03/2009 07:28

False teeth, zimmer frame, gin, everything a girl needs! Thank you!!!!!

So I'm off to Yeovil when I get dressed, so keep well away from the A303, as there'll be a mad old bint singing happy birthday to herself in a deranged manner!

Lyra, is you having a bathroom in the garden the same as me not having a floor? Are you bathing outside?

Berrie · 05/03/2009 08:14

Have a lovely time.
See you all in bed later !

LyraSilvertongue · 05/03/2009 10:43

Happy birthday Zeb.
The bathroom's in the front room, still packaged up so i can't even gaze lovingly at it. I've been gazing lovingly at my kitchen, which is virtually finished now the Venetian blinds are up.

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 05/03/2009 19:59

Phew! Just got home, had dinner, had a bath and am now out for a well earned beer!

oggsdog · 05/03/2009 20:17

Did you have a nice time? I thought you were staying overnight?
What have you been doing?

Have a nice evening

LyraSilvertongue · 05/03/2009 20:49

What about our night in the hotel? I've got my bag packed.

Berrie · 06/03/2009 07:02

Morning.
What are your plans for the day?
Me? Take dc to PS/School and then I've the morning to myself again. I could go to the local factory outlet for a new bra, and on to Asda to get stuff for lunch for friends on Sunday or I could go to the next village where they have a butcher to get some nicer meat for Sunday. I've got some lessons this afternoon I need to plan for. I ought to do the ironing, I could go and do some digging on the allotment but my back isn't good...many choices.

oggsdog · 06/03/2009 07:25

Morning

Don't know yet.
Dh will have to take the car to work (still got icy snow and his truck won't make it up the hill ) so I'm stranded here again.
Was going to go and do the weekly shop. Also need to buy dd a new body protector for riding and wellies for school.
She goes riding tomoroow for 3 hrs so that is my only chance to get to the shops. Trouble is it's about 45 mins each way from the stables so I don't get long.

I'm fed up of meal planning. We always have the same on about a fortnightly turnaround. Sometimes I just run out of inspiration.

Berrie · 06/03/2009 08:10

Oh me too, let's swap meals!
This week we've had baboti and rice and peas.
Soak a couple of pices of bread in 10 floz milk. Squeeze out the milk and mix with 500g mince. Add a handful of raisins, tspn curry powder, tblsp vinegar, salt and pepper and mosh it all up. Beat 2 eggs into the milk, pour over and bake for 45mins ish at 180.
That's the basic recipe but I add pine nuts, mango chutney, ground almonds if I've got them.
We also had Grandma's Goulash which is easy if not terribly sophisticated. Tin of stewed steak, tin of tomato soup, macaroni or twirls mixed together.
Tonight, roast veg, aubergine, courgette, red onion, pepper hot on salad leaves with feta cheese, black olives and lemon juice.

oggsdog · 06/03/2009 09:01

It's really interesting seeing how the other half live what other people eat .
Dh and dd would not eat anything with raisins in, but I like the sound of baboti.

This week we've had;
Fishfingers, chips and peas - good old favourite standby
Chicken Curry - great 'cos dd likes it hot
Spag Bol - quick and easy
Omelettes (with chopped potato and bacon 9and cheese -dd)) and baked beans - uses up eggs (dh insists on two slices of bread and jam with this. Always. Weirdo. )
Tonight will be erm... don't know yet; haven't looked in freezer.

Other good standby is Pasta bake.
Cook onions, garlic (I use this in almost everything) and mince. Add oxo cube and jar of Ragu.
Mix with cooked pasta and put in ovenproof dish.
Top with a beaten egg mixed with nat yog/double cream/créme fraiche and grated cheese.
Eat with garlic bread. Yum.

Berrie · 06/03/2009 09:18

Mmmm that sounds delicious!
Cheeky mare!Other half live indeed! Boboti is just mince, bread and eggs! Grandma's Goulash is hardly refined and I simply didn't bother telling you about the omlette sandwiches, cheese on toast or spaghetti with a tin of tomatoes and cheese! Dh and I had a naan bread for tea on Wednesday!

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 06/03/2009 10:26

I thought you were all driving down to Cornwall?

oggsdog · 06/03/2009 10:31

I got as far as Cardiff but made a detour to see DT who is filming there, and his offer of a bed for the night was far more appealing than top'n'tailing with you lot.

Sorry.

What can I say?

I'm sure you would have done him too the same

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 06/03/2009 10:56

Oggs!!!!!! Couldn't you send DT to Cornwall now you've finished with him? As my birthday present? Harrumph.

Now I'm not going to share my M&S dinner tonight with you and you can just stick to fish fingers, chips and beans!

Ha! I'm off now. Hmm, I wonder who what I can order up as room service......

Berrie · 06/03/2009 11:42

Oggs, shame on you for knowing where Dt is at the moment!

Berrie · 06/03/2009 12:05

Right have just changed into some teacher clothes. (For Zeb who wonders about these things - off goes the holey jumper and old jeans, on goes a black and whitle dress from Asda, rather too short as I failed to notice the petite label- though size 20 petite seems to be a contradiction to me - black opaques - legs very hairy at mo- a short black cardi to cover bingo wings and a pair of flat boots. I don't usually wear a dress mind you but nothing is ironed so needs must. I will probably get a few looks so I'd best keep my granny duvet coat zipped to the chin.))
Where was I? Oh yes, I've got changed and I'll have something to eat and head off for an afternoon exploring the mysteries of multiplication and division. This morning in the end i went up to the allotment and stood looking at it for a long time. I do much more of this than actually doing anything but I must make a start sometime. I chatted to another allotmenteer and have realised that I must be a terrible listener as I felt I didn't get the chance to talk as much as I wanted to. Perhaps that's what happens when two people who've been alone all morning do though, compete to do the talking. (makes mental note not to talk as much and ask more questions) Then I went to the wool shop,( do you have a local wool shop?) to buy a big needle to sew my bag together. (What is your bag like at the moment?)

oggsdog · 06/03/2009 16:09

Zeb, who said I'd finished with him???

oggsdog · 06/03/2009 21:06

Berrie, how's the bag going?

My nearest LYS is also the crappest. It's stuck in a time warp. It's like the shop in Mr Ben. You go in and a weird little shopkeeper appears and you're transported back into the 1970's .

There is a very good one just over an hour away.

Zeb, I'm confused. Are you away tonight? Where were you yesterday?

LyraSilvertongue · 06/03/2009 22:54

Well, we had a wool shop until recently. In the last six months (?) we've lost the wool shop, the sewing machine shop and the fabric shop. I guess, with Primark round the corner, people aren't making their own stuff anymore. V sad.
Today I have had friends round for coffee, helped organise a cake sale for DS2's class, for which I'm class rep, and taken DSs out for tea and to a fun games thing at our gym. DS1 told me he'd had a really wonderful day .
DP is out for the evening so I've had several large glasses of wine and finished Slumdog. I might treat myself to a ticket to see the film some time in the eek.

LyraSilvertongue · 06/03/2009 22:55

The week.

oggsdog · 07/03/2009 07:31

Was the the ine talking Lyra

Goood Morning

Didn't have a drink last night - spent all evening knitting a mini-mitten - so I feel bright-eyed and bushy tailed this morning.

Dropping dd off at the stables then going on for a speed-shop and back again to pick her up at one.
By the time we've got home, put the shopping away and had a cup of tea it will be time to start cooking tea. Sheesh. That's the day gone.

Berrie · 07/03/2009 08:34

I have started the strap. It grows a lot quicker than the body of the bag but still frustratingly slowly.
I don't think it is going to be a very glamorous bag
