How many threads is this now?

OP posts:
Berrie · 23/02/2009 22:11

What time of year are you going. You're a not in term time person are you not? We are looking at June or September at the mo. June feels too early. It was a bit miserable having had our holiday when everyone was off on theirs after us.

Berrie · 23/02/2009 22:12

Right...much to late to be out of bed for me...did go at 9 but got up again. I'll try again!
Night!

LinneyTuckandMingMingToo · 23/02/2009 23:00

What about this one then? Lovely terrace but 2km from the beach.

LinneyTuckandMingMingToo · 23/02/2009 23:03

Or this one. Scruffy garden but sea and mountain views. And cheap.

LinneyTuckandMingMingToo · 23/02/2009 23:09

This is nice but expensive.
I'll stop now. Must put computer away before brain stops working.

Berrie · 24/02/2009 09:20

Those last 3 look lovely. Is it just the 4 of you?

oggsdog · 24/02/2009 09:29

I like the olive tree garden one. Haven't seen all the photos though as they take so long to download.

Berrie. Yes. Knitting Forum How did you guess

LinneyTuckandMingMingToo · 24/02/2009 09:33

Yep, just the four of us. DP has now agreed to spend a bit more, after I've trawled for hours for cheap villas, so maybe we'll go for the last one.

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 24/02/2009 15:05

Can I come too?

We have a week in Dorset with my ma & pa. On Chesil Beach in early May. But I say you can't have too many hols.

LinneyTuckandMingMingToo · 24/02/2009 15:42

Of course you can, if you can fit in my hand luggage.
Isn't there a film called On Chesil Beach or similar? or a book?

Berrie · 24/02/2009 19:42

Ian McKewan

Berrie · 24/02/2009 19:43

...or however you spell it.

oggsdog · 25/02/2009 07:07

Morning all

Still haven't completely shaken off this bloody cold thingy.
I should have gone to the Dr as it's definitely an infection - very sticky yellow mucus. Sorry. tmi.

I kept waking in the night with a tight chest and cough. It's better than it was but it's over a fortnight now .

Berrie · 25/02/2009 08:11

Get Y'sen tut Dr's silly mare!

I needa discussion about my job. With this new lot of children, I am spending all Monday and Wednesday morning without DD thinking hard about my lessons, trying to understand the nature of each child's specific difficulty, researching approaches to working with them and finally planning their lessons. This is good professional development for me and hopefully more effective teaching for the children. But...I could just turn up, do some planned work around their targets which will ensure they achieve each target, go home get paid, thank you very much.
I don't want to reduce my hours, we want to save for a holiday, we need a new laptop and dh is buying Ma's old banger today. I just feel under pressure to keep on top of things at home, spend time with dd before she starts school and be good at my job...(nothing novel about that I suppose)

oggsdog · 25/02/2009 08:38

It's such a trek to the Dr's (hour and a half round trip, plus time actually spent waiting, then seeing Dr) that I can't be bothered/spare the time.

Are the children that you see referred to you for extra tuition through the system, or is it private tuition instigated by the parents?

What subjects do you do?

Dd is not missing out on your time on a Wed and Mon morning as she isn't there anyway.
Are you managing to get all your preparation done in this time or are you cutting into the time when dd is home?

If the latter, then could you compromise slightly and resolve to only spend those two mornings on preparation?

Or is the problem more that you are spending just Mon and Wed mornings in prep and this is leaving no time for keeping on top of the house?

Berrie · 25/02/2009 09:25

State funded tuition, they get 10 sessions.
I guess I want you to give me permission not to be so conscientious!!
I'm just tired and stressed and not on top of the house (never am however)

oggsdog · 25/02/2009 09:34

I give you permission to not be so conscientious

I bet you're doing a hell of a lot more preparation than most would anyway.
Look at it this way, if you were teaching more children than you are there is no way on earth you would be able to dedicate so much time to each child.
A regular teacher with a class full of pupils would no way have enough time to tailor to each child.

Be a bit easier on yourself.

Note the distinct lack of advice on keeping on top of the housework .

If you have enough time to make/keep your house like a show house then you must be seriously lacking in imagination or have some very odd priorites.

Berrie · 25/02/2009 13:02

Imagination I like it.

A newish school gate friend has a showhome house. There is no 'stuff' anywhere. I keep wondering if it's all stashed upstairs somewhere out of sight, maybe in the en-suite! Perhaps it helps to have a big house.

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 25/02/2009 14:13

Look what I've booked for my birthday next week.

Berrie · 25/02/2009 14:49

Sigh...is the second person on the 2 for 1 offer me?

Berrie · 25/02/2009 14:49

When is your B'day?

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 25/02/2009 15:28

Yep! Actually, I'm told the beds are huge, so you can all come.

It's next Thursday. And it's a Big One.

LinneyTuckandMingMingToo · 25/02/2009 17:47

That looks great Zeb. I'll definitely be there. Bagsy the left side of the bed.

oggsdog · 25/02/2009 19:24

Ooh, nice Zeb . Shall we do tops'n'tails in the bed?

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 25/02/2009 20:27

I'm in the middle though. And no kicking.
