How many threads is this now?

OP posts:
ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 23/04/2009 10:14

OMG I've just been reminded. I have to go to a thing tonight which revolves around being taught how to massage, using 2 Canadian rugby players as the guinea pigs for demonstration, by the head honcho of the Canadian speed skating team.

I think I must be getting old, but I have a feeling this is the tackiest thing imaginable. Maybe I'm just still feeling poorly. There is also a wine tasting, but as I'm driving, that ain't much cop either.

I'd best google these rugby players immediately. I'll report back.....

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 23/04/2009 10:22

Right. Here they are. A lock and a scrum half. The scrum half's not so bad, but then I've always gone for those rugby types... rather than the forwards.

Berrie · 23/04/2009 10:35

How do you get into these things Zeb?

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 23/04/2009 10:42

It's not what you know, it's who you know Especially in Cornwall.

Actually, it's been organised by the financial guy I'm trying to get a job with. Although on the basis of yesterday's budget, I'm not sure I want to take the risk - hence the 'safer' NHS job, even if it is only for 3 months.

Berrie · 23/04/2009 11:02

Is there a chance the NHS job might be extended?
I skipped the budjet part of the paper today.
Lordy it's 11am already...I've hardly done anything! Sorted some washing piles...bit of a clear round, read the paper, listened to Women's hour while bird watching - I saw what I identified as a middle spotted woodpecker in the garden yesterday - turns out they don't live in the uk

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 23/04/2009 11:16

The only birds I can ever recognise are blue tits, robins and all the usual game birds like partridge, pheasant, woodcock etc. I wouldn't recognise a woodpecker if it jumped on my nose and started prodding it. And just because some book tells you they don't live here doesn't mean that he didn't get lost on his way somewhere else!

And yes, the NHS job is an interim fill-in until they recruit the permanent one, as they're desperate to get the project up and running. But if I applied for it, unless I make a complete hash of things, I'd be in a reasonably strong position to get it, as it's not a normal health sector type job, but instead needs someone with business support and liaison experience. ie - moi. And my contacts list is made up of everyone they need to be working with. So there you go. As I said, it's not what you know....
Incidentally, that's the same reason the finance guy wants me - oh to feel loved. Unfortunately, my shelf life is also VERY short so I need to sort this out soon. Just like some ageing Holywood startlet!

Berrie · 23/04/2009 11:20

Are you enjoying being unemployed?

When are you planning your camping trip?

MatthewBellamysMuse · 23/04/2009 12:21

All done. It's gone to the dump. My hands are slashed to ribbons and my nails are ruined but hey ho. I'm hoping all that hard graft counts as my daily exercise quota.
Now I'm going to sit in the garden till it's time to pick up the brats boys.

Berrie · 23/04/2009 12:24

Well done!
You should set up as an odd job man. I'd hire you!

MatthewBellamysMuse · 23/04/2009 12:27

I might get our builder to teach me some new skills. Maybe he needs an apprentice. Hurrah, new career sorted!

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 23/04/2009 12:36

Well done you! I'm impressed. Maybe you should go into business with the sainted Kirsty of Kirsty'n'Phil fame, now she's doing up her Devon hovel.

Meanwhile, I'm loving the unemployed thing. Err. Apart from being broke. And ill. And with no phone line. And a temperamental mobile reception. Particularly as the sun's shining.

I'm going to have to blow out tonight though. I just went for a quick walk around the village and feel just awful again. Sorry ladies, there'll be no reporting back on oiled up rugby players after all. But I will try to make it to the match on Saturday so I can report back on Andrew Ridgely for you.

MatthewBellamysMuse · 23/04/2009 12:39

Hob-nobbing with the stars eh Zeb? Have fun!
Salad for lunch I am feeling slimmer already although it's probably all in my mind.

MatthewBellamysMuse · 23/04/2009 12:41

A little treat to brighten up my your afternoon.

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 23/04/2009 12:49

Too ill for salad. I'm having a ham & mushroom slice with a few chips to keep my strength up.
And without proper broadband I can't do the Youtube stuff properly. Oh well. One day....

MatthewBellamysMuse · 23/04/2009 12:50

I think this has been my favourite of our many threads.

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 23/04/2009 13:06

Any reason in particular?

Berrie · 23/04/2009 13:27

Chesse and tomato baguette for me and dd. Am seriously thinking about picking up Twilight and heading into garden...

What's for tea? We are having baked potato with tuna and sweetcorn and salad followed by rhubarb crumble and ice cream The rhubarb in the garden won't take many more hits like that I'm afraid!

Dd says the music is not nice

MatthewBellamysMuse · 23/04/2009 13:28

I'm not surprised it's not DD's cup of tea.
Not sure why Zeb, but its been fun.

MatthewBellamysMuse · 23/04/2009 13:35

I think it's this:
Reading the Twilight series made me happy.
Discovering and listening to Muse has made me extremely happy.
I now feel happy in general. happy happy happy
And all this in the last month or so.

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 23/04/2009 13:43

Happy happy happy. I am too actually. Well, apart from feeling ill I am. New house, new job starting on 11th May, new gym membership, a week in Dorset at the beginning of May and nice weather.

Oh, and Edward Cullen.

Group hugs

Berrie · 23/04/2009 14:24
