How many threads is this now?

OP posts:
Berrie · 10/03/2009 16:32

Oh highbrow schmibrow. It's your fault I've got a Middlemarch sitting on my shelf begging to be read.

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 10/03/2009 17:08

If you read Middlemarch, you'll then put off reading the next 2 twilight books a while longer.

Berrie · 10/03/2009 19:35

I've had them ages...Actually I think part of it is that I know that if I start one, I won't be able to do anything else and I will shout at the kids for disturbing me. Also I'm thinking I might read the first 2 again first!
Midlemarch just does not have the same pull.

oggsdog · 10/03/2009 22:25

I've still not read the final Harry Potter for the same reason Berrie .
I wanted to go back and read them all in order right through but I think I'm going to start with The Order of the Phoenix instead.
The later ones are much better - the earlier ones, especially the first two seem very childish now.

Berrie · 11/03/2009 08:01

Really?
I didn't get beyond the first two.
Morning to self this morning

LyraSilvertongue · 11/03/2009 08:24

Blimey O'Riley, that was one good book. I read it in two days (I never read books in two days, I'm a very slow reader) and finished it at 2.30am . If it hadn't been so late I would have gone back to the beginning and started it again.
I'm a little tired this morning (surprise surprise) but I can't go back to bed because I've got to go into town and buy the other three books.
Berrie, I'm wondering if/when he's going to change Bella. It's got to happen eventually. Can you imagine her being old and wizened at 90 years old and he's still a physically perfect 17-year-old?
Oggs, I can't read the first two or three HP books now. Way too childish after the later ones.

oggsdog · 11/03/2009 08:57

Hmmmmm. Maybe I should have a look at this Twilight book.
Is it soppy romancey at all? I can't be doing with that.

Morning

LyraSilvertongue · 11/03/2009 09:11

It's an incredibly intense love story but you will fall in love with the main character. He might even cure you of your DT addiction. I wouldn't say it's soppy.

LyraSilvertongue · 11/03/2009 09:22

Btw, that boy in the film is nowhere near good looking enough to be Edward Cullen. Not even close.

Berrie · 11/03/2009 09:44

He has his moments it helps that one is already in love with the character. Dare I start the book...? No dd will be back by lunchtime and I won't want anything to do with her!

Berrie · 11/03/2009 09:46

Humph...so you believe Lyra that it's a good book then...my recommendation was not good enough?

Berrie · 11/03/2009 10:01

We are thinking of booking this last 2 weeks of June
My dad has a car/van at Carcassone airport and he has managed to get flights from the airport on our doorstep for 1p all in. We just need to decide whether to wait it out for the cheap flights and risk it or book now. He can also take food and other supplies out for us in the van ready for us since shopping there is incredibly expensive at the moment.
< Berrie kids herself that they will be happy to eat pasta from home rather than piles of baguette, cheese and the rest every day>

Berrie · 11/03/2009 19:03

Where have you all gone?

LyraSilvertongue · 11/03/2009 20:59

Reading, of course, although I did make it to the supermarket so my family will no longer have to survive on stale bread and water.
I'm a quarter of the way through the second book - poor Bella (sob).

Berrie · 12/03/2009 07:10

Oh I know...

oggsdog · 12/03/2009 08:39

Oy! Stop with the plot spoilers. Tsk.

I've been knitting, or thinking/reading /asking questions chatting about knitting.

Guess Who arrived in the post yesterday?

LyraSilvertongue · 12/03/2009 09:39

Mini DT!
I dreamt that i met him last night and he was a miserable git.
Berrie, please tell me Edward isn't absent from the whole of the rest of the second book. He's the main reason for reading it.
Sorry about the spoilers Oggs but you'll forget them by the time you read the books.

EdwardCullensWife · 12/03/2009 09:41

But Jacob's a lovely boy.
Sorry, couldn't resist one more little name change

Berrie · 12/03/2009 10:40

He'll be back soon fret not.

Berrie · 12/03/2009 10:41

I dreamed I had a baby...I want a baby! I'll settle for Edwards baby!

Berrie · 12/03/2009 10:53

Oggs, Lyra can't stop with the spoilers, she's in love, irrational, she needs to talk about him.

oggsdog · 12/03/2009 10:54

If you find any babies chuck one my way please.

oggsdog · 12/03/2009 10:55

I've just bought a diary on ebay

EdwardCullensWife · 12/03/2009 11:01

Less of this talk of having Edward's babies, Berrie
Oggs, what kind of diary? Why are you whispering?

oggsdog · 12/03/2009 11:05

It's a Doctor Who slimline diary
