DamonBradleylovesPippi · 03/03/2009 10:20

sunflower it's almost over. well done.

Penthesileia · 03/03/2009 10:21

Oh, Sunflower - get well soon!

Yes, that's true - DD is obviously frustrated at not being able to go where she wants (though she's trained me very well to take her instead! ), but our house - pre-move - is in such a state right now it would be positively DANGEROUS if she tried to crawl anywhere...

You are really kind to make a cake for your DD's friend!

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 03/03/2009 10:25

pippi, you are a stepford wife with all this baking
yes, once I get the passport, i'm going to get drunk!

javierbardem · 03/03/2009 11:34

Sunflower: What a saga this passport thing. Starting to apply for dd2's british passport online, is it as simple as it sounds?

Franca: will check out hte livingetc website. That's all i need another website to be obsessive about.

Penthe: i thought that once you introduce protein at 6 months then food is also important, but definetely feeding times need to be fun and relaxed.

Sputnik: agree, chuck the books.

Damon: your dd2 seems very healthy and bright. We have Watchmen too, but have not read it. Persepolis is wonderful, i wish i had read as a lttle girl. I love the artwork.

Franca: Wasnt; Bruno Giordano a footballer for Lazio in the 70s? He had a horrid fringe? Relieved he has not written a book.

Damon again: won't bother borrowing Palestine, the one you mentioned we don't have, did't know this Joe Sacco, may buy it for myself as a present.

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 03/03/2009 11:49

the problem with being a baking stepfraud is that I'm eating them all. I'll start looking like the old lady who swallowed a fly! must go and bake. see ya later.

francagoestohollywood · 03/03/2009 12:54

Ciaoa tutte.
Sunflower, glad to hear the passport saga is almost over. Pour yourself a nice G&T.

Again, I think there are huge differences in weaning. I think that here more importance is given to food rather than milk. It is probably cultural, as I have the feeling that italian children drink less milk than their northern European peers.

I love Living Etc! It is def my style, contemporary mixed with antiques and retro stuff. Obviously with a different budget ...

Brangelina · 03/03/2009 13:25

Hello!

Just popping in quickly before getting on with something I've been putting off all day...
Haven't been around much as a bit of rl got in the way (sudden unexpected visit from long-lost friend, work trip to Budapest etc.) and on the back of that, having been away for a while I thought I'd further detox as there were some days I was doing nothing but mning. I mean, I've even managed to burn pasta because I've not been able to tear myself away from here.
Also, I don't know if this happens to any of you, but from the many threads with high levels of neuroses (and a fair amount of blinkered narrow-mindedness) I've found my view of UK people unfavourably coloured by what I read on here. I've become a bit of a judgey pants, but the other way around iyswim. Maybe it's just old age and me becoming a grumble pants in general.

Anyway, I'll catch up with the 1000s of posts later on when I get a mo. Got to finish now so I can catch an early train.

Ciao!

francagoestohollywood · 03/03/2009 13:30

Brangelina!!!! I missed you. By the way, yes, I totally see what you mean, it used to happen to me too. Nowadays I'm busier being judgey pants of a good % of Italians, though .
I think we suffer of the same old age syndrome

Btw, have you seen Scamy with moustache?

Penthesileia · 03/03/2009 13:35

Hey Brange! We've all been wondering where you are!

Work trip to Budapest! Sounds very glamorous!

See you later, I hope.

franca, you are such a Scamy obsessive!

francagoestohollywood · 03/03/2009 13:36

I'm actually getting over him. The moustache were a step too far

Penthesileia · 03/03/2009 13:38
Grin
Brangelina · 03/03/2009 13:41

F*ck! I was supposed to get the early train. See, I get sucked in here and can't tear myself away.

No, haven't seen Scamy with moustache, it's not a hairy caterpillar style is it? I hope not, he will def go down in my estimation. I had some juicy gossip about him, but can't remember it now. Sorry!

Budapest was not glam alas, just saw the airport, my hotel, a restaurant near my hotel and a nice conditerei selling huge slabs of Viennese style cakes. Oh, and my client's offices of course.

Reading back through this thread it looks like there have been a few contentious threads. What was the nursery thread? Was it really vile?

Brangelina · 03/03/2009 13:43

Actually, while I've sucked myself back in, does anyone ahve any idea of what to do with farina di ceci apart from the dreadful farinata di ceci? Alternatively, does anyone have a recipe for a farinata that actually tastes nice? I bought the stuff as I thought it would be the same as gram flour to make dosas but apparently not.

francagoestohollywood · 03/03/2009 13:46

You can't resist us Brange...

I'm so happy I missed the nursery thread, as similar threads managed to piss me off big time in the past.

How could you forget the juicy gossips? Lets say that moustaches don't do much for him, but I guess he is growing them as he is filming yet another movie set in the 70s.

francagoestohollywood · 03/03/2009 13:47

sorry no idea of what to do with the farina di ceci. Not keen on farinata too.

javierbardem · 03/03/2009 13:47

Ciao Brange, welcome back, well done for staying away! I missed you.

Can we have a picture of Scamy with moustache please ...

Damon: i have been thinking of reading anita brookner too, but wonder if she is going to be wet and dull (she looks wet and dull). I will let you know later which book i wanted to read of hers.

I am so excited about the fiona millar thready, how sad is that?

francagoestohollywood · 03/03/2009 13:49

Naughty Javier

Who's fiona miller?

Brangelina · 03/03/2009 13:50

Anita Brookner is dull. A friend lent me one of her books - I think it was the one that won the prize - and I gave it back unfinished. I just couldn't get into it. However, she's not as dull as Susanna Tamaro (can you tell I really don't like her books?)

I missed y'all too. I think we need to organise a meet up.

Brangelina · 03/03/2009 13:53

My cleaning lady has come back, yay! She hasn't been yet, but I already feel order is restored in my life.

javierbardem · 03/03/2009 13:54

she is married to alistair campbell and she is a campaigner for state schools! she is doing a live web chat today.

where's the picture then?

Brangelina · 03/03/2009 13:55

Did you see that Becks was thinking of buying a pad near George? I might have to apply for that interpreter/assistant job after all.....

Brangelina · 03/03/2009 13:59

Hmmm, I googled Scamarcio con baffi but nothing came up, except for Brad Pitt con baffi. Maybe it was in a magazine that's not online. Either that or Franca saw him in the flesh [shcok].

francagoestohollywood · 03/03/2009 14:00

Shall we apply together??? (mind you, you know what is the general consensus on george, don't you?)

francagoestohollywood · 03/03/2009 14:01

lol at googling scamarcio coi baffi

No he is here

but quickkkkkk rifatti gli occhi here

Brangelina · 03/03/2009 14:02

What is it? Other than he dates "civilians" and not just starlets. Do apply, we can jobshare/share the childcare!
