I'll do that now. why don't we call the consulate and book an apt for a couple of weeks away or so. Don't think they have that many apt available tbh.

Urgh - all this talk of consulates and bureaucracy is frightening me... We haven't registered DD in Italy yet - can't remember what for... But DH said something about it months back, and we've done precisely nothing...

Penthe, I was just going to go in one morning as I did with DS, they took care of everything... then s.one told me about translation and all the hassle they were having... this was back in Nov and they needed the passport beg of Jan, so I'm hoping I'll have it sorted by the time we go (bought tickets are not "evidence" of urgency)

btw, would you need 2 apt - ie one for AIRE and one for Passport? it's all very confusing..

I really seem to remember it was pretty straightforward when we did it for dd... but it wasn't me actually going to the consulate... I have vivid memories of dh coming home as a wreck after a day there...

think you only need for passport. for aire you just queue on the stairs?? Would I need to apt because I need two passports? probably. I'm trying to book a date but I'm waiting for an email to confirm my username. when I go in I'll ask you for a suitable date. If I could drop dd2 with someone...

Yes, I will leave it to DH. Tho' the last time he went to the consulate was to protest about Berlusconi, or something... so he may have forgotten how hellish it is...

franca, it was long (had to queue for aire and passport) but at least that was it, only cost the passport money, no all this legalisation business etc....

It's crazy.

I booked for the 17th originally but then there isn't a slot for the aire. so I've changed for the 31st for both. not sure if it's too late for you sunflower.

I'll ring them tomorrow and find out. in theory to have her on my passport it'll be done there and then... I remember when I gor DS passport, we had to go through the passport bit, then they sent us upstairs to the AIRE and then we went back downstairs but didn't need to queu again....
