Coronation Street - new thread

I thought as the old one was called something about Richard's latest victim, it might be time to move on to a 'new era'!

I have been wondering whether Martin and Katy get it together. They have been getting on very well and he is about the only male she has had a smile for on the Street. Also, he has had no romantic interest for ages. It might be a big 'schoolgirl and older man' shock story line. What does anyone else think?

Yes, DH said that the other night. I think she is getting a crush on him which is bound to be heightened when her father gets killed off. I think Martin will be the shoulder to cry on/father figure.

I've got to say that it has all been a bit of an anticlimax after the kidnapping episode. Even the comic relief night episode was a let down after the edge of the seat drama on the Wednesday.

Nutjob · 25/03/2003 20:10

PamT - is that what's going to happen then? Is Tommy Nelson going to get killed off? I hadn't heard that one!! And, sorry to go back to Richard Hillman again, but does anyone think it's rather strange that there has been no mention since of him being Alma's cousin (or something). I seem to remember that is how he first came into it, at Alma's funeral, and then Audrey thought he fancied her and it turned out he was interested in Gail. I always thought that it would turn out that it was just a ruse and he was no relation at all but that part of it just seemed to disappear!!

carriemac · 25/03/2003 20:44

As an aside, how does Lucy's florist stay in business? has anyone ever seen a customer in it ??

PamT · 25/03/2003 20:48

Well Nutjob, you asked so here goes. DON'T READ THIS IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW (sorry for shouting but I don't want to be accused of spoiling things).

I've just been reading corrie.net and there's lots going to happen.

Tommy is going to get shot in a gun battle with the people he is hiding from after the police lift the protection thing. There will be a cliff hanger whilst he clings to life but eventually pulls through (Martin is bound to be the nurse on duty!!!). His attackers all get put away for a very long time so they can all live happily ever after.

Todd Grimshaw is going to turn gay after he splits with Sarah Louise. Ashley may or may not find romance with his new nanny (but personally I think he is still in with a chance with Sunita). Archie is going to be phased out but not killed off, Roy Hudd has had enough and can't keep the pace so he wants a break.

Shelley isn't going to find out about Peter just yet and it looks like she might go through with her wedding in July - another bigamist then! (Didn't Emily Bishop have a close escape from someone who was already married many years ago?). Anyway we're stuck with the 'Tell Her!' storyline for quite a while yet.

Nutjob · 25/03/2003 22:07

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't think I can stand a moment more of the Peter/Shelley/Lucy storyline!!

Hilary · 25/03/2003 23:34

Me neither, all Shelley's high-voiced protestations of undying love are starting to grate so much, I'm starting to want her to find out the truth!

breeze · 26/03/2003 08:42

Do Steve and Karen split up, I hope they do not I think they are so funny.

I did hear that Lucy dumps Peter a few days after they get married because she find out about Shelley.

And that Mick beats up Les and Emma lies because she saw it all.

Hilary · 26/03/2003 12:24

I can't help wanting Peter and Lucy to have a marriage which works.

Todd becomes gay??

bundle · 26/03/2003 12:36

carriemac, Richard the serial killer kept her in business for a bit, I think

Bozza · 26/03/2003 12:46

Agree with hilary about Shelley. Every two minutes she's spouting "I need you more than I've ever needed you" etc etc. Its all a bit much. And those smiles she gives Peter...

And why do I want to hit Tracey every time she appears on the screen. I am not normally a violent person.

Scatterbrain · 26/03/2003 13:17

Peter and Shelley are BOTH customers too !! She's probably one of the Interflora mob too - so kept busy with phone and internet orders !!

bundle · 26/03/2003 13:24

Internet? in Weatherfield????

breeze · 26/03/2003 16:28

Well Lucy started seeing Peter knowing that he had another girlfriend, so she can not really moan when its goes t*ts up can she.

Bozza, Tracey, I'll hold her down and you can hit her. I know wxactly what you mean though.

Moomin · 26/03/2003 17:32

Didn't we see Ken on t'Internet for one episode, tapping away on his laptop? Trust Ken to be on the cutting edge...
Tracey barlow? Bring it on - I'm RIGHT ready for a fight today. Period is 5 days late, I'm NOT preggers and the tension is killing me!!! PMT's not PMT unless you spend the day with a toddler (Sorry - went off the point - give me some CHOCOLATE!!!!)

Hilary · 19/05/2003 10:34

Ha ha! I'm right!

I have just bought a tv guide which has 'Martin and Katy shock kiss' on the front. Not such a shock, I predicted it here on the 25th March!

OP posts:
Ghosty · 19/05/2003 10:43

Oh blimey ... Richard has only just tried to bump Audrey off in NZ ... we must be REALLY far behind!!

bayleaf · 27/05/2003 21:01

Is it me or does every one think that Curly has become an unbearable sanctimonious git? I agree with him entirely that what Emma did was bad ( tho' I can live with it as we are led to believe that Les has broken the law and got away with it on various occasions so for me that sort of takes some of the injustice out of it)but Curly is just so far up his own arse on this one that I want to slap him constantly everytime thay have the same row!

Bozza · 27/05/2003 21:18

No 'fraid I'm with Curly on this one. Couldn't stand being married to someone who said "but I'm a copper" every five minutes.

Well done Hilary BTW but still made me cringe.

bundle · 31/05/2003 08:16

I'm not so bothered about Emma being a bent copper, more appalled by her terrible acting
also - Bernard Cribbins - whose idea was that??? Tracey obviously just needs a man with a wallet and a pulse - in that order

breeze · 03/06/2003 15:16

I have just read that Asley and his nanny get engaged on fathers Day?. Surely that can't be true. Then again this is soap land.

Bozza · 03/06/2003 15:55

Well obviously something is brewing there Breeze but I guess its the fact that Father's Day is less than three weeks, its not long since Ashley was bereaved and Clare currently has a boyfriend that you can't believe. Minor concerns for a soap though

emsiewill · 07/07/2003 20:59

3 things.

a)How unbelievable was Lucy in labour?
b)Why was she bottle feeding?
c)HOW RUBBISH was she at bottle feeding? If I was that child's mother I would NOT be happy - it must have had terrible wind after her incompetant poking at its mouth with that (old fashioned looking) bottle.

Sorry, had to get that off my chest.

codswallop · 07/07/2003 21:01

sinittas nose is HUGE

emsiewill · 07/07/2003 21:02

Oh yes, and that, too.

codswallop · 07/07/2003 21:07

yes I rang a single friend to reassure her about he impausablility of labour...
