HI Alexandre,

well, the other girls already told you to have a look at the modelling thread on the other website.
There are loads of agencies you could get the children you need from.
Elisabeth Smith, childsplay and Scallywags have been around for ages but there are few more newish agencies you could contact and that have gorgeous kiddies on their books, like Junior Model Management or Cheeky Monkey Models

dtb · 30/04/2009 22:01

my daughter has joined rascals model agency...can someone please tell me how this license thing works....sorry to sound so naive but new to all of this.and what about a medical certificate

alexandre · 01/05/2009 08:32

Hi everyone

I've jumped to the other thread - thanks for the link.

See you there?

alexandre · 02/05/2009 08:55

Back again. Other thread has been reported and removed for "recruiting" which is against the rules - I didn't realise.

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who PM'd me. You all have such beautiful children.

I will be in touch soon when I have made a decision.

Many thanks.

catia212 · 02/05/2009 11:45

Hello!!
Please can you help me with my dilemma.
My daughter which is 3 months at the moment has been accepted my Elizabeth Smith Agency, and I'm just about to send all the paperwork and the fees payment, but someone told me that kids london is a better agency and that they get loads of work with loads of different companies.
Because there is so many of you with your babies/children already in the modelling world, I am sure you have met people with children within all the different agencies in the market, so my question is, have you met people within elizabeth smith or kids london? If yes, what were their comments?
Which agency (Elizabeth Smith or Kids London) do you think my daughter will have more chances of getting work having in mind that she's only 3 months?
Thanks

AbbyLubber · 02/05/2009 12:18

Where are all the people ready to spring on anybody whose children have so much as an extra maths class? Modelling sounds much more problematic to me, and defining a child by looks as worrying as defining by IQ.

HellFireandDamnation · 02/05/2009 14:08

Alexandre - why don't you just go through an agency one of the long list on netmums? They have all the measurements of the babies/children - or are you just looking to save money??!!
I'd be happy for my lo to model for yu but only through an agency.

Luce2006 · 02/05/2009 16:36

HFD: she already has a shortlist of girls from Scallywags,Elisabeth Smith and Childsplay.
Considering we are in a "credit cruch" I am not surprise small businesses look for other ways of finding models ( in this case) who are willing to help in exchange of print/clothes etc... I would do the same if it was going to save me money.
She's after girls,not boys.

Tinkerbel6 · 02/05/2009 17:25

I can understand that somethings have to be done on the cheap, but going through an agency protects a child and that is part of an agents job to check out any potential clients, anyone recruited for a job by any other means does not have that protection.

Tinkerbel6 · 02/05/2009 17:38

Catia KL have low start up fees and are a very good agency, ES is good aswell but they have a lot of babies on their books so a lot of internal competition, I think you should apply to other agencies and wait until you hear back then make your decision, good luck.

HellFireandDamnation · 02/05/2009 19:55

Tinkerbel - yes totally agree and that would be the reason that I wouldn't do anything outside of the agency.

alexandre · 03/05/2009 09:00

Hi Hellfireanddamnation and Tinkerbel6

Totally understand. From my point of view too as the kids have been tried and tested.

It was never my intention to recruit from the boards but I got kinda side tracked when it was suggested by the others on here!

It has nothing to do with money, I am just frustrated that I can't find anyone local.

Tinkerbel6 · 03/05/2009 09:50

alexandre is there any reason they need to be local ?, parents are willing to travel to get their children to jobs, expenses would need to be paid though but you would have to pay that anyway unless you found a child who was within walking distance. Bizzykidsz agency is in kent and there may well be a couple of more, maybe you can contact them.

MABS · 03/05/2009 09:50

Hi all - some advice please... I have a pretty beautiful 14v year old dd, at least that's what i'm told. Any idea's on who i should contact? we are in Sussex btw

BillyBooCrazyMoo · 03/05/2009 10:25

Alexandre - can you not run a competition in your local newspaper to find potential models ?
I'm surprised that you haven't been able to find anyone local, although don't understand the need for them to be local. I know you mention that Agencies take a long time and you'd want models at short notice but from my experience Agencies can contact a model and have them at a casting or job on the same day or next.

I know I'd be able to find probably 100 or more girls by just speaking to the parents at my children's school. Your DD is 10 isn't she - can you not go through her school and do an open casting ?

What is your business btw ? You can't blame parents being a bit wary of you on forums when you aren't being that open about what your business is etc.

BillyBooCrazyMoo · 03/05/2009 10:29

MABS

Try KL, AK, UA.
How tall is your DD ?
If she's very tall it may be a case of trying an adult agency, althoguh I'm not sure as I don't have children in that age bracket.

MABS · 03/05/2009 10:35

thanks Billyboo, she is 14, nearly 5ft 7, very slender, very dark eyes, olive skin, great cheek bones and very dark ringlet curls down past her shoulders. do you think i should do adult or child? many thanks

BillyBooCrazyMoo · 03/05/2009 10:45

MABS,

She sounds stunning. Like I said I'm not really an expert on the older ones but I'd say try Kids London as your starting point - they go up to age 21.

As for choosing adult or child, the decision may be taken out of your hands by the agency. I know of one 12/13yr old who models successfully for Models 1 albeit she doesn't look her age and has the build and height of a 20yr old.

Send a few photos to the different Agencies and ask for their advice, as soon as they see her they should know if any of their clients will be interested or whether she looks too old or too young for their client base.

Good luck and pop back on to let us know what they say.

Totallyfloaty35 · 03/05/2009 10:54

mabs, adult modelling very different to child, would start with child model agents first as less pressure on child to look a certain way.All my dds model, one of them is 14 to,try KL,BB,MOT,U/A,NC,JMM,SW, some have high charges for set up costs, some do more tv work, some more photographic

brooke77 · 03/05/2009 10:56

hi Billiyboocrazymoo.. good post, i do think alexandre has gone about it the right way though.. you cant post too many details on these boards but she has forwarded all her contact details in email, before receiving any info.

Must say though, when I read alexandre's original post asking if we felt it would be ok to approach on the street it did sound as if you were looking to find models other than through agencies..

HFD.. am i right in thinking you took part in the adrian samson shoot? if so, i believe that was not through an agency.

There are plenty of non-agency opportunities that come up on other sites such as starnow, mandy etc and you have to be incredible careful about what is genuine and what is not. I always check things out thoroughly before forwarding details and if I have any reason for doubt i dont get involved.. for example when some of us took part in the language is music video. When I first saw the details for this, it looked great, but i emailed the uni before i sent any info to the contact email, to make sure it was genuine.

First and foremost, our childrens safety must be the most important, and tinkerbel is right as you do have this guarantee with your agency.

OP posts:
BillyBooCrazyMoo · 03/05/2009 11:45

Thanks Brooke, I totally agree with what you're saying btw and a valid point about the Adrian Samson shoot.

MABS,
Totallyfloaty has made a great point about adult modelling and everything that goes with it regarding image and pressure. I must admit adult modelling is not something I've ever thought about for my children.

What are your initial thoughts because obviously you know your child best and what she will be suited to, also what's her take on it all ? I suppose it also depends on your child's level of maturity.....do you see your DD's face on a cover of the latest Bratz magazine or is she more Vogue ?

Luce2006 · 03/05/2009 11:52

You're right Brooke, the Adrian Samson shoot wasn't thorugh an agency. I was the one who found his advert on Gumtree and passed it on to the others.

It's our duty,as parents, to check adverts to find out what's genuine and what's not.And as Brooke said, if you have any reason for doubt, then stay clear adn don't get involved.

HellFireandDamnation · 03/05/2009 13:33

yep Adrian Samson was not through an agency nor was Rosie Collins but please don't think I'm being hypocritical because I'm not! I did a lot of research beforehand and that was not limited to Google! There are a number of reasons which have been expressed here and elsewhere and had Adrian and Rosie's recruitment been similar I would not have been interested.

MABS - I'd like your daughter's hair please!

Anyway - enough! Who has got what castings and jobs not heard much for a while.

Zuba · 03/05/2009 15:52

HFD- I can understand exactly what you mean, Alexandre has given no information for you to even begin to check out if its legit, Adrian and Rosie have been open and allowed anyone to search and check them out. This is not a dig at you Alexandre, you have every right to recruit how you like, it is for the responsibility of us parents to check if you are legit before sending pictures of our children to you. Not to be rude but who sends pictures of their children to complete strangers going by two things, an offer of work and a first name?????

MABS · 03/05/2009 16:56

Thanks for all your thoughts and advice, much appreciated a very helful.

My gut feeling is that i would prefer kids, BUT to the earlier question is she Bratz or Vogue? i would have to say Vogue - tho she wears v little make up and lives in Jack Wills clothes - no miniskirts for her!

I too would love her hair, mine was never like hers sadly
