Benvenuti, ciao hello

OP posts:
MarsLady · 10/12/2008 18:49

The link was all in Italian and whilst I know you all think I'm fluent I couldn't understand a word and couldn't find the "In English for Mars the daft bint" button. Looks nice though.

Brangelina · 10/12/2008 18:51

Mars, you could also try the Tuscan coast like here or here or this is not far from Punta Ala. We went there this summer, got a flat in one of the less exclusive resorts and I must say was quite impressed. You get the wide beaches of the Adriatic without the crappy sea, you're in a national park and by Italian standards it's not expensive. Plus you're only an hour or so away from places like Siena and Florence.

Brangelina · 10/12/2008 18:52

I only picked sites with an English button, so you should be OK.

Brangelina · 10/12/2008 18:52

Pippi, do you have any news? How are you today?

MarsLady · 10/12/2008 18:54

Grazie bella!

Brangelina · 10/12/2008 18:57

Here you go, here's another of the region as you can see, there is also a lovely spa (Saturnia) with free thermal pools to sit in naked at night (as DP's friend's DP did). there is also a posh paying part if you want to avoid naked hoi polloi.

Rosa · 10/12/2008 19:05

Quick hello.
Minirosa rompe palle in serata so sleeping from 1 -4 on a good night and not managing to nap in the day . Madam naps when we are out but not at home . Having siad that she has been saleep in her chair since dh got home 2 hrs ago !!!
Pippi positive vibes for your dh hope it works out well soon.
Brang LOL at your dp and the zebra crossing ( noting the seriousness of it and potential disaster )- My dh had to be restrained on a vaporetto when full and somebody was leaning on the pram and wouldn't stop. I thought he was going to punch his lights out and he is not a violent person. He is also black belt in karate but he would not have been able to do the kick !!!
Xmas shopping stopped and I still have stuff to post to UK but dd 1 has temp and so am confined to house.
I did brave the consulate in London - It was my first experience of Italain waiting , queuing, more waiting and then lots of stamping and bollate !!!
Mind you I dread to see how much it will cost to register dd2 with the Brits.
Franca hope your ds gets better soon
Oh Xmas tree I have a fake one had it for 10 yrs and it is still as good as it was . I do love the smell of a real one though !!
Gotta go boob time !

Brangelina · 10/12/2008 19:15

Lol at the no napping in the daytime, it sounds soooo familiar.... I'm glad you seem to be much chirpier and getting on OK.

I didn't know your DH was a black belt in karate, he's beginning to sound very Daniel Craig like, zipping about the canals on boats and unarmed combat. At least you don't have the zebra crossing problem in Venice. Is it hard getting the pram on and off vaporetti? Bloody nightmare on most buses and trams.

Did you get DD1 registered properly then? I'm afraid I balked at the cost and thought sod it. I must get around to getting her passport sorted, if I leave it any longer it'll get yet more expensive.

PippiCalzelunghe · 10/12/2008 19:16

rosa LOL at imagining your dh doing karate kicks on a full vaporetto !

brange explain for me the origin of the hoi polloi things. i cannot work it out myself.

got different surnames in italy and uk. the uk is mine plus dh's. I do mean to register both marriage and dd2 but all this carte e bolli scare the shit out of me.

now re the delicate matter of dh: HE IS FINE AND HE IS COMING HOME TOMORROW! !
but but but... would you be upset if your dh/dp all this time didn't tell you that doctors had found smthing during first op and were waiting for results? bless he is so relieved as he thought he had months left but I cannot share his happiness as i was never made aware that that was a possibility ifswim.
also what would you do if you think that collegue is flirting with him? (quite nive to go back to talk about more trivial things: hot shall we resurrect bannatyne !!)

hot museum of childhood, where?

PippiCalzelunghe · 10/12/2008 19:21

rosa, this is what I used to do with both my dds when babies. it felt to me that they would not want to go to sleep in their cot because it wasn't cosy enough (always surprised how quick they go to sleep in your bed even if you're not there). so, in the manner of puppies and kittens, instead of a sheet I used to put dh or mine worn (not dirty!) T-shirt, for the smell. it always worked.

Brangelina · 10/12/2008 19:23

definition of Hoi polloi

Such good news re your DH! Scary about that other thing but he probably did the right thing by not giving you something else to worry about.

PippiCalzelunghe · 10/12/2008 19:36

oh wow! I thought it could be that but for somed reasons I thought it would be too educated for where I origianny saw it written. thanks.

francagoestohollywood · 10/12/2008 20:05

Pippi great to hear dh is coming back tomorrow (and glad nothing serious was found. Very sweet of him to not tell you anything, BUT I'd be a bit cross for not having been told iyswim...)

Now, what is this flirting thing going on???

Mars sorry, I thought the website had one of those buttons to turn the italian into english. here is an english website on senigallia
Punta Ala and the area Brangelina has suggested earlier is def posher (and the sea cleaner and more beautiful). Still I enjoyed my week in le marche this summer, it was really relaxed and the food delicious.

Rosa, lol at dh doing karate on the vaporetto How do your hands feel? I hope better.
Ds is fine, just full of catarro. Today, with the arrival of 2 books on ww2, I think I have completed the shopping for the dc. Now I need to sort the rest of the family (yawn)

Yay Pippi, good news about your DH
He was probably right not to tell you, it would've done no good.

francagoestohollywood · 10/12/2008 20:08

another one on le marche

OP posts:
Brangelina · 10/12/2008 21:23

Oh yes Pippi, the flirting thing. You'll just have to go and meet him from work looking extremely lovely, make it obvious that you and DP are very much an item and smile sweetly at your rival. I'm not overly jealous but I do enjoy a bit of territory marking every now and then, it's such fun.

Le Marche is nice, and lovely for exploring, as is Abbruzzo apparently but I've nver been there myself. Then there is always Puglia, where I originally wanted to go last summer. The food is sublime in all these places of course.

Talking of Puglia, where's Bucharest gone? Is she busy entertaining Scamarcio do you think?

francagoestohollywood · 10/12/2008 21:36

Yes, I wonder where Bucharest's gone. Do you think she's been busy cooking Scamarcio a nice traditional Christmas lunch?

Yes Pippi, Brange is wise, a bit of sweet territory marking is due soon methinks.

Mars lots to choose from, is your head spinning ?? I'm thinking of making LDC for ds's christmas fete

OP posts:
PippiCalzelunghe · 10/12/2008 21:39

ah yes the flirting thing. brange, done that! that's my style too . It's nothing really now that the real dh is back from the 'dying' one. I questioned him on this girl (who's lovely btw) the other day and because his thoughts where on the 'i-m-about-to-dye' mode he hardly paid any attention and did not reply which made me very suspicious, as I did not know his state of mind. Now that the real dh has come back he has answered and acted normally. I'm not very jelous either but I sensed smthing different because he was acting different. I am not worried if she fancies him, which she might considering what/how she wrote on the card, as long as I am sure he does not.

I have been slumped on the sofa zombiefied taking in the recent info. I am all right now. although since I know dh will be back I cannot be bothered to clean or tidy up.

I'm super that my xmas tree already looks as if it's l'epifania!!! 40 quid worth??????????? going to storm into the effing homebase tomorrow!!!!!

francagoestohollywood · 10/12/2008 21:41

Abruzzo: have been only once and it brings back horrible memories of being 15, feeling fat, ugly and having to wear a corset for bloody scoliosis.
Luckily I discovered Brunella Gasperini's books then, so I spent my time indoors reading and eating semi di zucca.
Here's to the teenage years

So how did you all spend your summer when you were 15???

OP posts:
francagoestohollywood · 10/12/2008 21:43

what did she write on the card [nosy] ?

OP posts:
Brangelina · 10/12/2008 21:49

In sunny Norfolk, sunbathing (or dodging hailstones) in the back garden. I don't think we did anything that year. Maybe we went to a beach or two to experience that swept away feeling.

Pippi, it wouldn't hurt just to check it out and it would give you the excuse to buy a new super-flattering glam dress.

I do wonder whether Bucharest is in fact Valeria Golina. All this cooking and entertaining for Scammy . La golina speaks English, no? Didn't she act in the US?

PippiCalzelunghe · 10/12/2008 21:49

pretty much like you except for the corsetto. still feeling fat and ugly. reading lots of books, simone de beauvoire prob, herman hesse, goethe etc, writing in my diaries (which i still have and one day read and cringe)and god knows what else and listening to some strappalacrime music tipo rod stewart and dreaming that the fighetto di scuola would suddenly fall in love with me. ahh...

Brangelina · 10/12/2008 21:51

Oh I was feeling ugly and hairy. Hadn't quite mastered the art of effective moustache removal yet and my mum was still telling me that it would go away by itself. Read lots of books too, but can't remember what.

PippiCalzelunghe · 10/12/2008 21:52

Ah yes my mum my younger brother and I were in calabria. and alongside with rod I was listening obsessively to Vasco Rossi and writing the lyric on a quaderno...oh my I bet I still have got that too...

PippiCalzelunghe · 10/12/2008 21:54

do you think that even those 'pretty girls' that all the boys fancy at 15 do feel fat and ungly at 15?
